Thanks for joining Kim and me for the weekly run down. Being it is Thanksgiving week, I thought it an apropos time to reflect on all that I am grateful and thankful for. Thank you all for being here week after week. Your friendships and support are much appreciated.
Grateful and Thankful weekly run down
Monday- 30 min Peloton cycle + upper body and core strength
It was a tough wake up today and jet lag was in full force. I couldn’t fall asleep last night and then, could not get up this morning. Always feels good to get my sweat on. It had been a while since I jumped on my bike. Then, I headed to the grocery store to start prepping for Thanksgiving. T minus 3 days!
Tuesday- 5 mile tempo run + stretch
A new session of the Team Wilpers run challenge started this week. It might have been a little optimistic to think I could just pop back in and hit my previous paces. I was still quite tired this morning but I got the distance test done. I am grateful and thankful to my body for cooperating.
I spent the afternoon setting up tables and straightening up the house. T minus 2 days.
Wednesday- mobility and core Peloton classes
I was happy to find that Peloton released a whole slew of new classes under “mobility” and that was just what my body needed today. I have been feeling super tight. It was a condensed workout today. Lots of prep and table setting.
Thursday Thanksgiving Day-6 mile run + stretch
It was a beautiful 40 degree morning and a perfect start to Thanksgiving. We had our own MRTT low key run.I practiced some threshold intervals and then sprinted home for a day of prepping and cooking.
We had a full house of friends and family-just the way I like it. So very thankful and grateful for all of them. We had way too much food but it was so delicious. I was pretty wiped when I finally hit my bed around midnight.
Friday-slept in + stretching and clean up
It was nice to sleep in today! I was still pretty tired from dinner and opted to just do a stretching/mobility class. I still had much cleaning and putting things away. My body was grateful for the extra rest. I never got out of my pj’s all day!
Saturday-upper body strength + core + mobility/barre
I was ready for a shorter workout today. It felt good to get back to some weights and core.
Sunday- On the plan 6 mile run + stretching
The weather looks awful with cold rain but I plan to get out there if possible.
Whew! This was a long, busy week. I am so thankful and grateful to have had such a nice time with my family and friends. Hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving.

Like you, I had a full, busy, wonderful week! I’m pretty tired this morning but as we are up at the lake, I’m going to get a little bit of running done. Thankful for your friendship and for this space every week where we all can connect!

It sounds like you had a fabulous Thanksgiving day from your run to your dinner party! Ours was wonderful, too, only on a much smaller scale.
Deborah Brooks says
It was fabulous and exhausting!
Marcia says
What a wonderful group you had for Thanksgiving! Like you, I was too wiped out to finish all the cleanup on Thursday night. It’s a lot but so worth it! The cold rain is in progress here so I’m glad it’s a strength day. So grateful for our group and this linkup!
Deborah Brooks says
I am so grateful for all of you as well!
Coco says
You had an amazing houseful for Thanksgiving! Love your little MRTT Thanksgiving run.
I just managed to sneak in a short run before the run. Hope you get out there.
Deborah Brooks says
It was a full week for sure! Yes, I did get out and it was raining but grateful to have it done

I’m impressed you got the table out 2 days before! I always wanted to, but our house is small so it didn’t really work. Although it’s somewhat stressful going to my mom (and Bandit having an accident didn’t help things), it was also nice to be served — and have a choice of something other than turkey!
Great job on getting it all done, Deborah!
Deborah Brooks says
The table setting always takes me a long time and I had to figure out how to fit 18 of us! A good problem to have. Hope you had a fantastic time with your family

You’ve had a crazy two weeks, but I’m sure all the fatigue was well worth it. It’s icky, damp & cold here as well. My streak run will a quick “one and done,” (in terms of mileage & time spent outside). Grateful for your friendship <3

I’m impressed- you had 18 people over for Thanksgiving??? No wonder you’re tired! Sounds like it was a great week of workouts and celebrating. I’m glad you had such a relaxing day on Friday- you definitely deserved it.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, 18! It was hectic but full of friends and family definitely worth it. I need to get back on track this week

Looks and sounds like you had a busy but great holiday week! Getting together with friends and family is so awesome. 🙂
That collage Cari made of all of us doing our Turkey Trots, whether official or just our own runs on Thanksgiving, is so cool! It’s becoming one of my favorite traditions to run on Thanksgiving Day.
Happy Thanksgiving! Grateful for connecting and friendship.
Deborah Brooks says
happy thanksgiving to you hope you had a great one!
Cari says
18 people. WOW.
We used to do that for Christmas and it was fun, but tiring. The number shifted a lot even before COVID due to weddings, holidays with in laws, etc. but always fun to see where we shook out. I think we’ll be 14 this year. Maybe. Definitely cook ’til you drop. You earned that PJs day after
Love the matching within your in person run group
Deborah Brooks says
I love having everyone for dinner but yes, it’s a lot of work! I think I am finally recovered today
