Thanks for joining Kim and me for the Weekly Run Down. Happy Mother’s Day to all you amazing mother runners out there who continue to inspire me every day. I cannot believe I am back in Bloomington, Indiana this weekend for my son’s college graduation. How did the time fly by so fast? I mean, he was just in Kindergarten yesterday or so it seems. Anyway, I did manage to keep busy and stay on my schedule for the most part. Here is a peek into my week of fitness.
Graduation Weekly Run Down
Monday- upper & lower body strength + core + Peloton cycle + stretch
I do love the start of a new month and a new week. My goal this month is to give myself some grace. We have a ton of travel the next month and it will be very challenging to keep up with my current workout schedule. I am going to work on living in the moment and not worry so much about the rest.
Confession: that is not easy for me! So someone please remind me that I said that in a few weeks!
Tuesday- 5.5 mile Tempo run + 1 mile walk + stretch
Checking out some new tempo paces today and feeling pretty good. 1 mile post run walk and Peloton stretch.
Wednesday- upper + lower body strength + core + stretch
A shorter workout for me than normal as I am running around trying to get things done before we head out to Indiana tomorrow for graduation.
Check out this easy tweak to get more from your quad stretch

Thursday- 5.5 mile run + stretch + travel day
I got my butt up and out early today so I could get my run in before heading to the airport. It is an easy 1.25 hour flight to Indianapolis where we are headed for graduation weekend.
Friday- full body workout + core + stretch
I only had time for about 45 minutes of a hotel workout today and always appreciate that I can log into my Peloton app anywhere, We had the Business School ceremony today and then lots of running around all over, It finally stopped raining here in Indiana but it is still rather chilly. I was glad I had my jacket!
Saturday- Rest day + Graduation festivities
It stayed dry for our outdoor graduation today but it was chilly! Not the cute sundress I had planned but oh well. With such a large graduating class, the ceremony is held in the outdoor football stadium. It was really nice and I cried a few times. Boy does life just fly by! So proud of my guy.
Sunday- on the plan 6-8 mile run
I love to run through the IU Bloomington campus every time we visit. I have had numerous runs here over the past 7 years while visiting both of my kids. It is kind of bittersweet to think it might be my last one. Ah, the memories! Why do the kids have to grow up so fast?!
We are having an early brunch together and then flying home.
Happy happy mother’s day to all of you. I hope you are all having a fantastic day today!

Congrats again to Max and his support team! I get a little teary eyed for all of the graduates and I suspect I’ll be a mess when Maddie graduates next year. Looks like a wonderful weekend. I’m sure you will miss that campus!

It’s an emotional roller coaster for sure!

Congrats to Max! You are right, it is so bittersweet to see them grown up. I’ve struggled with it a little bit but I always remind myself that this is how it is supposed to happen–it means we did our job! Enjoy your run this morning. I’m so glad that the sun came out for you.
Deborah Brooks says
It is supposed to happen this way but it’s still hard! Yes the sun finally came out

Congratulations to your son! My son’s college graduation was a cold, wet day. I’m pretty sure he packed up and moved out the same day — it was a long one.
Isn’t it funny how places we run take hold of a special place in our hearts? Maybe you’ll have grandchildren go there. 😉
Deborah Brooks says
Ha yes and maybe!!
Jenny says
Deborah, I really feel for you! It seems like so much of motherhood is regretting the passage of time. It will be especially hard for you to say goodbye to IU after both your kids went there! i hope you enjoyed your run around campus today, and have a great Mother’s Day!
