I used to be the girl who stayed in her comfort zone. Reliable? Always. Predictable and boring? Hmm, Perhaps. However, the last few years, I have become much more comfortable and confident with my athletic abilities and ready to be a little more bold and daring.
When I first heard of overnight relay races, I thought, “Who does that?” “No way would I ever be running in the middle of night in the middle of nowhere”. Fast forward a few years and I’ve now done 3 of them! Oh yeah, I found myself running at 3 am in the middle of nowhere with a crazy team outfit on. Best time ever! Can’t wait to do that again.
Just recently, I had the opportunity to try Aerial Yoga. I hate heights and I was terrified I was going to fall right on my head. You know what, I didn’t fall. As soon as I stopped worrying about all that I couldn’t do, I was surprised but what I could do.
Aging is inevitable and I know that one day I may not be able to do all of things I can do now. Today is not that day and I plan to keep trying new things and go bold or go home. I might not be ready to jump out of airplanes quite yet but I did get a sense of what it might feel like recently and I loved it.
I am so not a morning person. I treasure my morning coffee(s) time and use those moments to set a plan for the day. My husband knows not to even talk to me until I’ve had my first mug. I admit I love the little boost I get from my Dunkin’ Dark roast. I enjoy the rich, smooth flavor I find in Dunkin’ Dark and appreciate that is contains 30% Rainforest alliance certified coffee. The Rainforest alliance works with farmers & manufacturers to protect the natural resources and wild life around the world.
My favorite Dunkin’ Dark roast now comes in K cups that I find right at my grocer (or on line) which makes my morning routine “run” even better.
Dunkin’ Dark #Brewedforthebold is partnering with coffee lovers who aren’t afraid to push the envelope like Becky Hammon, the first female assistant coach in men’s professional basketball. Now that’s bold! Read her story here.
I am not sure yet what my next bold adventure will be. I’ve got a lot of items on my bucket list.
Tell me-What’s your next bold adventure?

I love to read about all your great adventures! Airel yoga is on my list. I am just waiting for a studio or gym near me to offer it.
My latest adventure was hiking up a waterfall which was so much fun! I would said turned away and said no way if you asked me in my 20’s to do that. Too dangerous – Ha!

I loved this post! One of the biggest changes I have noticed since moving to Vancouver – being surrounded by mountains and trails – and starting running is how much less afraid I have become of trying new things. I used to be terrified of heights! They still make me a little scared but never would I have imagined literally climbing a mountain, or running a marathon Thanks for sharing this!
Deborah Brooks says
I know how great is it when you realize that you are capable of so much more than you thought?! Good for you!
Farrah says
I’ve never tried aerial yoga, but it reminds me of aerial silks, which I love and miss dearly! I used to like staying in my comfort zone too but I’ve been trying to kick myself out of it more and more in the past several years!

Deborah Brooks says
Now that is great idea!!

Way to go for getting out of your comfort zone and trying aerial yoga! I did the same with zumba recently (for someone with a shoulder disability who has never done a group exercise class I was terrified of looking like a fool) and I LOVED it – so now I’ve got to think up my next bold move 😉
Deborah Brooks says
I know sometimes it surprises me that I truly do enjoy some of these new things.

My bold adventure started as an exciting trip, which quickly took a sharp turn. As super storm sandy slammed down on the east coast, it took a piece of my heart along with it. For me, I went to New York to run, along a with so many others, to show the American people that we are a courageous people. 🙂
Thanks you for sharing with us !!!

Wow, your article is really cool. Running in the midnight, for me, is such a crazy thing, but worthy to try. Aerial Yoga is challenging, but you look so free when doing that.
