Getting Ready For Summer Adventures Weekly Run Down

Thanks for joining Kim and me for the weekly run down today. We are just a day away from our next summer adventure and I could not be more ready. I am really hoping these next few weeks will take my mind off of things. Here’s a peek into my week of fitness.

weekly run down

Getting ready for summer adventure

Sunday- 3.5 mile power walk + core

I slept in a bit and got out much later than I had planned for my walk. It was so hot and humid but it always feels good to get some outside time. Next, I got some gardening done. I am so not a green thumb but I try!

Power walk

Monday- Peloton walk + lower body & upper body strength + barre

I am in week 3 of the pump it up vol 1 series and liking the structure. Today’s lower body with Adrian was tough in a good way.

We met with another Cardiologist who went over my test results and presented a much more positive explanation. I am confident that my new medication will address my problem and I will be feeling back to normal very soon.

Tuesday- 4th of July run into DC + stretch class

One of my favorite annual MRTT traditions! It was great to be back out with my squad for our run into DC. I did the shorter route and I was happy as could be. It’s quite warm and humid in DC but this girl didn’t care one bit.

Weekly run down

We had a really low key 4th of July. The hubs made us a fantastic pizza (Margarita with pesto) in the Ooni oven. He’s become quite the pizza maker! I never say no to pizza.

Weekly run down

Wednesday-tread walk + upper body strength + core + 30 m Peloton cycle

I had a “virtual book club” chat w Cari while I was walking on the tread. We both read “5 star weekend” by Elin Hildebrand (who we both love). Next, I continued with my pump up the volume program followed by Peloton cycle.

It was my dad’s birthday and we had a nice dinner out with my parents. Happy 85th to my dad.

Thursday-4.5 mile run/walk + stretch + core

Humidity was at a ridiculous level and it was already into the mid 80’s at 8 am. However, now that I am easing back into running, I was itching to get out. There was a lot of walking involved but I ran today and I’m happy.

Weekly rundown

Friday- tread walk + lower/upper body strength + core + cycle

A great all around workout mix today. Feeling accomplished.

Weekly run down

Saturday- Rest day

Rest day for me however I will do a stretch class to keep up  my streak.

I had a much better week this week all around and I am really looking forward to our upcoming trip! Will catch you next week from Italy! Ciao!

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

There’s nothing like a run to turn things around and I am so glad you got the clearance to go! Now you can relax and enjoy your trip.

We make pizza pretty often. The hubs is really good at rolling the dough out thin. Last week we made a pesto pizza with the basil from our garden–something the rabbits did not eat, lol. It was so good!

I’m very glad to hear things are going so well! One good thing about being forced to take a break from running- when you go back to it, the heat and humidity (or whatever would normally bother you) don’t seem that bad- you’re just so happy to be out there.
So you have a pizza oven! That’s one of my dreams- pizza in the regular oven just can’t compare.
Have a great trip- I can’t wait to hear all about it!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/09/2023 at 4:06 pm

Yes we have an Ooni and we love it! I am not so sure on that heat and humidity but I am much happier now

So glad to know you have the path to answers and are able to get out there
