How much fun is this!?
How much fun is this!?

I love the idea of a “Friday Five Link Up”!

Today’s theme “Follow Friday” was chosen by the amazing Link Up hosts http://eatprayrundc.com/  http://www.yousignedupforwhat.com/ and http://www.marontherun.com/

Ok “Follow Friday”- I’m assuming you all already follow our beautiful, witty hosts, as I do, so I am going to mention a few other blogs that I enjoy reading as well. So hard to pick just 5!

1. The Lyon’s Share http://www.thelyonsshare.org/

I discovered Megan’s blog last month and have been participating in her Spring Reset challenge for almost 2 weeks now. Megan is a health and running coach with a direct and compassionate approach. I know if I lived near her we’d be besties! I’ve always been focused on my nutrition and feel that I have a pretty good overall diet however, Megan has encouraged me to tweak some of my habits. I’m really happy with some of the changes I’ve made but that a whole other blog post. Check out her page for great nutrition tips and recipes as well as running advice.

2. This Mama Runs For Cupcakes   http://www.thismamarunsforcupcakes.blogspot.com/

I met Sue through the amazing Moms Run This Town (MRTT) group. We are both chapter leaders in Northern Virginia and often have the occasion to do events and runs together. When I say run together, I mean we are both at the same race because I could never keep up with this speedy mama. After reading Sue’s blog for the past year, I was inspired to try to give it a whirl myself. Her sassy style and great sense of humor have kept me interested, inspired and motivated. So thanks Sue for encouraging me to start my own blog. If you haven’t already seen her blog-check it out you won’t be sorry!

3. Kim Runs  http://kimruns.blogspot.com/

I recently discovered Kim’s blog and love it! She writes in a “I don’t take myself too seriously” way and shares her adventures on her way to her first half (Nike this weekend!). She is super detailed and to the point which I like. Kim is easy to relate to for me and I really enjoy her honesty. I also discovered that she lives not too far away from me in NoVa and she is in MRTT too! Need I say more? We are also going to be at some of the same races this summer so look forward to meeting her in person. Come to think of it-she lives close enough to be a bestie so I may have to track her down too.

4. Divas Run For Bling  http://divasrunforbling.com/

I love the name for starters!! So cute! Heather has a great variety of material from training, to recipes to gear. She writes for the everyday runner and is honest and humble in her achievements. She always has the best smile in her pics and seems like she would be loads of fun to hang out with. She’s got great advice on a wide variety of subjects. I think we’d be friends too if she lived near by.

5. Fitnessmomwinecountry-   http://fitnessmomwinecountry.com/

I’ve been following this super chic “California cool” blog from Lynda for just a few weeks and already love it. She brings her relaxed California style into posts about fashion, beauty, fitness and health. I love the freshness and variety of her posts. I can picture her chilling out with a glass of wine, sitting on a beautiful terrace overlooking a vineyard while writing her posts. My husband has a dream of retiring in Napa one day and having a winery. Who knows we might become BFF’s too one day.

Ok so I see a theme here. (Hopefully not that I am a crazy stalker-LOL!) These 5 women speak to me with their writing and I can relate to them on a personal and emotional level. I look forward to reading their posts each week, listening to their advice and trying their recommendations for products the same way that I would from a great friend. I appreciate their humbleness and sense of humor as well as their willingness to put it all out there. They are all inspiring in different ways. So who knows, maybe we will be friends one day. Until then I’ll just keep reading them!

What are your favorite blogs and why?

Do you ever feel like you could be friends with the writers?

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

Deborah, I am so super jazzed to be a part of your list {holly beezeegous} what a nice Friday surprise! I am laughing though reading about myself. Yes every so often we are sipping wine at a winery on a terrace overlooking the vineyards, but most days I am a hot mess mom, wearing workout clothes all day, washing my hair every other day, blogging, taking care of kids, house and whatever else is on my to do list. Fashion sense I don’ t have for sure LOL…You are welcome to my home anytime you want to visit the Napa/Sonoma Valley…We do love our good food, amazing wine and chocolate and cheese 🙂 I am so happy you found me 🙂

Thank you so much for your kind words about my blog and writing style! I am truly touched and really, really appreciate the shout-out. I am going to yell like a crazy person on Sunday when I get to the MRTT water stop. I would high-five, but I have visions of knocking the water cups out of all of the volunteers’ hands and creating a water stop slip and slide. So instead I will just yell. “Deborah! Where is my future bestie Deborah!”

Deborah, I definitely know what you mean. I feel like in some ways fellow bloggers know more about me than people I see all the time. Usually my friends and I are talking about our kids, or chasing our kids and are too busy to really talk about what’s on our minds. I nominated you for a Liebster award, stop by my blog when you get the chance and see 🙂 so glad to have “met” you!

    • Deborah Brooks says
