The ever popular Friday Five from the DC Trifecta Cynthia, Mar & Courtney is going patriotic today!
1. It’s a great reason to pull out all of your patriotic gear-when else do you wear this stuff?
Here is my race day outfit from this morning.
2. Holiday races tend to bring out families-runners young and old, fast and slow. I convinced my son to run with me today and he hates running. Pretty much anyone can do them. There tends to be a much more relaxed, less competitive feel which is a nice change to larger, longer distance runs.
3. 4th of July reminds us that we do live in the best country ever. It’s important to remind our children and ourselves that men and women fight for our freedoms everyday.
4. Meeting up with members from other MRTT chapters for big group pics before races is so much fun! We missed the group pic today but did get one with a friend
5. Your workout is done by 8:30 am and you are free to lounge at the pool and hang with your family!
Hope you all enjoy your 4th of July today! Anyone else racing? How do you show off your patriotic side today?
We are off to a baseball game this year but I hope to do. 4th of July race next year! Love your race outfit!
thanks! Have a fun day with your family!
Fun – I love holiday races! Nice to see pics from this morning on your blog – looks like you had a good time 🙂 Have a great weekend!
We did thanks! Have a great day too!
Great reasons! I skipped mine today because I am planning on a long run tomorrow instead. I was worried about the rain, but it seemed to have just blown over!
It was a gorgeous day!
So bummed we didn’t get to chat! We spent the 4th of July at the White House!!! Talk about Patriotic!
Cute outfit and I love it when I can talk my son into going on a run with me! No holiday runs here- just logging in a few miles with my daughter who is working the Couch to 5K program!
Great reasons. Patriotic off its are fun to break out. Was a beautiful day for a race. Next time hopefully we’ll know we’re in the same place and meet up.
Yes that would be nice!
Yep! I did one! i am right there with you, it was a ton of fun, and I won a GIANT apple pie, probably the best pie I have ever had, so that alone is worthwhile right? 🙂 You forgot another one….you get 2 breakfasts this way 😛
Ha well I did not win a pie but that’s always a nice bonus anytime! We did go out for omelets afterwards though
I hope you had fun at your race! I didn’t run in a race, but I did make sure to wear my red, white, and blue on my run yesterday 🙂
That counts too! Have a great rest of your weekend!
A bit late–but I love your outfit!
Aw thanks-I love to have an occasion to pull out the patriotic gear
I’ll definitely have to try to run a 5K on the Fourth next year!
It’s fun hope you get to!
Love your race day outfit and the fact that you have a July 4th race tradition! Hope you had a great 4th!
I love finding a reason to pull out the patriotic gear! Hope you had a nice 4th too
Love #3! I also love your shirt that you wore in yesterday’s race. Very cute!
I love the shirt too! I get so excited when I get to pull it out 🙂
You are right we do live in the BEST country ever. I went to the gym instead of a race and she made sure we got our workout in before indulging. I tried to party like a rock star – clearly I am no rock star. I was ready for bed by 9 pm. LOL
That sounds like me-most nights I am in bed before my teens. Ah getting old!!
i did not run a race this weekend, but did run 9 fun miles through downtown dc and through the closed off streets — it was awesome! 🙂 you looked adorable!
oh thanks! I love an excuse to pull out the patriotic gear. 🙂
