I can’t believe I’ve never joined the Weekly Wrap before! I’ve loved reading them for years so here I am let’s do this!
Last Sunday
Road Runner Sports hosted a group run and private yoga class for our MRTT group. We had a fabulous turnout and it’s always lots of fun to chit chat and hang around after the run. Running and yoga are the best combo aren’t they? I also bought my first pair of Saucony shoes in the hopes that they will offer a little more cushioning for my sore feet.
Monday
I am back on my tri training and currently in the build phase. I did one hour on the spin bike followed by 1 of weights with my trainer. Tough combo!
Tuesday
4 mile very chilly run with the group followed by a 30 minute swim. I am back to swimming twice a week and enjoying it. Days that I swim, I am absolutely starving though.
Wednesday
1.5 hours of elliptical, kickboxing and strength training. My Wednesday workouts are my favorite as my trainer really pushes me in ways that I do not push myself. Left a sweaty mess for sure.
Thursday
4 mile recovery run with a huge group today. I was starting to feel very tired by Thursday and knew that I had a race coming up on Saturday.
Friday
Usually I do a spin class followed by my master swim class. I woke up still feeling tired so decided to skip the spin class. Kind of glad that I did because our coach decided to jump in and swim with us this week. Consequently, our workout was a lot tougher. We got in about 1950 meters high volume for me at this point.
Saturday
Highlight of my weekend! I planned to meet up with Deb from Deb Runs at a local 10K. Since it was the first Saturday of the month, we planned an in real life Ultimate Coffee Date afterwards. I just loved her! We chatted just like long lost friends. The power of MRTT, runners and the blogging world. I can’t say enough! Love!
After such a mild January, today was the coldest day we have in a long while with the temps at 18 degrees for start time. I bundled up and sucked it up. It was hilly and chilly but so glad that I went. After my “10K November” where I did a race every weekend, I scaled back over the holidays. This was my first race of 2017 and the longest I had run in a while.
Cookies at the finish line! Win!
So glad I decided to join the weekly wrap this week! Thanks so much Tricia and Hoho
How was your week?
Jennifer Lefforge says
I need to start swimming again! But I’m with you – always makes me SO hungry! Wow, you had a very full week. I didn’t cross train at all this week but DID get all my training runs in so we’re calling it good. Great post!
Deborah Brooks says
Definitely good! Hope you have a great rest of your weekend and week
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
So fun to have you joining Weekly Wrap! I think I jumped in when they were about three months into and have enjoyed the linkup ever since.
I just can’t say enough about how much fun I had meeting you yesterday! We WILL find more opportunities to meet for coffee and I love the birthday blog idea! ๐
Deborah Brooks says
Yes to all of the above! We have lots of time to plan it
dynise says
Fun to peek in on your training. I’m in awe os anyone who does tris. I will just stick to running and use my bike as transportation and swimming as relaxation, haha.
Keep it up!
Deborah Brooks says
Well that’s what they all say until you “tri” it LOL
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
I love that you got to meet Debbie! I’m hoping she comes to Chicago to run the 10 miler Kim and I are running in March. No guarantees on the weather tho–it is Chicago!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes she was talking about running that race. Hope you all get to meet up she is a sweetie
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
Sounds like a great week! I am not a swimmer… at all. I tried for a few weeks last year when I was injured, and now I dont have access to a pool. Great job finishing that race in the cold! Cookies at the finish sound like the perfect treat!
Deborah Brooks says
It was not my finest moment at the race but it was lots of fun and yes cookies are always appreciated!
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
It IS hard to believe you haven’t joined a WW til now!
Good for you for listening to your body. Sounds like you were plenty busy! Swimming is so time consuming — no idea how you squeeze in 2 swims a week!
Deborah Brooks says
Well I am exhausted this weekend but got it done. I don’t usually post Sundays bc I have my Meatless Mondays which I am still writing! Have a great week
Sarah @ BucketListTummy says
Such a great variety of workouts – such a fun way to incorporate fitness into your daily life!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks! I have to mix it up or I get bored.
Teresa says
Who doesn’t love a race that has cookies at the finish line? Win! Glad you finally joined us here on the Weekly Wrap…you had a full week of workouts!
Yay for finally meeting up with Deb! Glad you ladies had fun running and sipping coffee together ….in real life! ๐
Deborah Brooks says
Real life meet ups are the best!
Meranda@fairytalesandfitness says
Glad you are joining the weekly wrap. Your week was fun to read. So cool that you met up with Deb! And I agree January was quite mild and February is not starting out that way!
Deborah Brooks says
I know! February is way colder usually I just wasn’t ready! It was so cool to meet up with Deb IRL
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
I am so impressed with all of your swims. I doubt I could make it one length!
Cookies should be at the end of every race. Or how about the end of every workout? I’d love that. ๐
Deborah Brooks says
Well now you are talking! Will run for cookies for sure
HoHo Runs says
Welcome, Deborah! How fun to meet the other Deb and have a real coffee date. It’s my experience when meeting other bloggers that it feels like I already know them and we just haven’t been able to get together for a while. It’s wonderful you are swimming twice a week! I’ve looked for a local swim coach and come up short. I desperately need help if I wanted to improve in the triathlon. I love the tights you wore in the 10k. And, that cute Valentine cookie would be a big selling point for me. LOL Thanks for linking. Hope to see you again next week!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks it was fun! I don’t usually have time to get 2 posts out on the weekend but I will try when I can thanks
Kimberly Hatting says
Wow! You certainly stay busy! I love all of your group pics with your “sisters.” ๐
Deborah Brooks says
They are my favorite ones!
Kathryn @ Dancing to Running says
I was so cold on Saturday, so kudos to you for getting out there and running the race. I debated signing up for this race, kept putting it off, and then when I saw how cold the forecast was I chickened out. Though I still ran a 10k on Saturday, I waited til late in the morning to head out and for it to warm up a bit.
Deborah Brooks says
It was ridiculously cold for us here! I had a terrible run but so glad I got to met up with deb
Coco says
So cool that you got to meet Deb! I love all your group activities. Glad we added one more workout to your week yesterday. ๐
Deborah Brooks says
Yes me too great to see you!
Montana @ Pretty Lil Mudder says
Welcome to the Weekly Wrap! I started linking up to keep myself accountable for Gasparilla training and I feel like it’s worked well so far!
I have been slacking on the swimming training- I have my first tri in April, and I’m worried I won’t be able to get enough swimming in before then. This is twofold- first off my pool has crappy hours during the winter and I’m working during the hours its open so I can’t go there. Second of all, I’ve been more focused on running because of all my races (especially Gasparilla) coming up. We will see how this progresses once Gasparilla is done!
I love meeting up with internet friends/blogger friends! It’s awesome especially because when you interact with someone for a while online you start to feel like you know them!
Deborah Brooks says
You know the swimming is the shortest part we will both make it through!
Darlene says
Isn’t it fun meeting another blogger in the flesh.
Congrats on a great week.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes always!!
Tricia@MissSippipiddlin says
Deborah, I am so very happy you joined us this week for the Weekly Wrap! You come back anytime you like you hear! ๐
I’ve always thought you have such a wonderful MRTT group, yall are always getting together and supporting each other and I agree getting together with running friends is awesome!
I wear Saucony’s a lot too. Which style did you get? Mine are the Guides.
I so get the time with the trainer and pushing beyond. I would never get those last reps without her! OH wow!!! How neat you got to meet up with Deb and yall had a real Coffee Date!
Congratulations to getting back in the swing of races Deborah. Hope you have a wonderful week!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes they are the Saucony Guide 10 and so far I like the cushioning on them. The weekly wrap was fun but not sure I get myself to do 2 weekend posts bc I am always scrambling for meatless Monday but will try!
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
Nice to see you doing the weekly wrap! It is fun reading everyone’s posts each week. It looks like you had fun at your 10K! Love your tights!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks it is fun to join in but hard to do on Sundays for me
Lesley says
I don’t really swim, but we had to in middle school as part of gym class. I do remember being famished until lunch. I hated it.
Deborah Brooks says
LOL it does make you really hungry!
Sharon says
Sounds like a great week! Wow! Private yoga class for your MRTT, nice!! I miss my MRTT group in NJ! Great job on your 10K. Cookies at the finish are the best! ๐
Deborah Brooks says
Is there an MRTT out by you now? You might have to start your own chapter like I did ๐
Amy @ Running on Faith and Coffee says
Sounds like a great week of fitness! Good luck in Tri training! Doing a Tri is on my bucket list for sure. I love doing all three things so a Tri just make sense!
Hopefully someday I can meet some of the bloggers I know in person, that would be pretty awesome.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes you should certainly tri one! you can do one ๐
