I pretty much spent the last 3 or 4 days feeling sorry for myself and repeating how this just wasn’t fair as I had been working so hard all winter. I then started to put it all in perspective and realized that in the big picture this really wasn’t so bad. It was only temporary. All runners get injuries and I will bounce back.
I then began to freak about how I would maintain my fitness if I couldn’t run for 4-6 weeks. So the first week I jumped right back into spinning classes. I obsessively searched the area for times and dates that would work for me. I did 5 classes this week and a funny thing happened-I remembered that I like cycling. Don’t get me wrong, it is not the same as running and I don’t seem to get that runner’s high but it’s fun.
I am also missing the social aspect of running. I lead the Moms Run This Town Chapter in McLean and my running friends have become my real friends. They are the greatest group of women and continuously amaze me with their inspiration, strength and support for each other. I typically run with them 3x/week and I was really missing this time with them as much as I was missing running.
What types of cross training do you do?
Do you get the same kind of “high” that you get from running?

I’m sorry about your injury! Are you all healed now? I clicked on this post because you look great in your #sweatpink tank!! 🙂

Yes I am thanks that was back in February. It took a long time to heal though. I will never ignore pains again and listen to my body when something hurts.
