Thanks for joining Kim and me for the weekly run down today. It has been a busy but good week around here. I am feeling merry and bright. Here is a peek into my week of fitness.

weekly run down

Feeling Merry & Bright

Sunday- 8 mile Chutzpah Chanukkah race

As you know, I was super excited to run my first ever Hanukkah race! It was a super low key race without any timing chips. We had a fun group and we all stayed together for our run on the C & O Canal Path outside of Georgetown in DC. I am not the biggest fan of running on a rocky trail but we had lots of fun and it was a gorgeous day. Feeling merry and bright all day!

Monday- core + upper body + glutes/legs + low impact Peloton ride + stretch

A little bit of everything today! Giving my legs a little bit of recovery with a lower impact ride. I took advantage of the new Peloton “stacking stuffer” 15 min classes. I hit my 800th strength class!

Tuesday- 6 mile run + stretch

Wow! It was so cold this morning and the wind was howling. Dug out some warmer gear and got out there. The sun was shining by the end and all was merry and bright.

Wednesday- Peloton boxing + core + glutes and legs + stretch

Woo hoo! I have been waiting for Peloton to drop boxing classes! I have missed doing boxing workouts and used to do them weekly with my trainer pre-covid. My workout life is now complete ha!

Thursday- 6 mile run and stretch

It was a chilly morning here! The cool temps invigorated me and I was happy to have gotten out. Trying to keep up with my flying ponytail. I was definitely feeling the effects of my boxing class in a good way.

weekly run down merry and bright

Friday- core + Peloton strength + boxing

I am trying to work my way through the 2 week boxing program so I can give you all a full review next week. So far, loving it! I wanted to squeeze in a good strength class today as well before heading off to vacation Saturday.

Saturday- Travel To Aruba

Headed back to our happy island! Stay tuned for lots of beach photos next week.

Sunday-TBD Beach run?

Hope your week was merry and bright too! Thanks for joining us today.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

Have so much fun on vacation! Did you go a little earlier than usual this year?

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/12/2021 at 8:24 am

Well, last year we escaped for the entire month of December. We are staying 2 weeks this time for the kids’ schedules

I might check out the Peloton boxing. I don’t have the equipment, but I’m wondering if I could still simulate the moves? Back in my P90X days, they had a kenpo (?) class that was a lot of fun, which incorporated a lot of boxing moves with cardio. Have a great time in Aruba!!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/12/2021 at 8:24 am

You don’t need any equipment at all! I just put on the gloves for fun. I will doing them here in Aruba since I don’t have my bike 🙂

I’m pretty jealous of your beach vacation! Enjoy your time there. What will you do to take the place of Peloton?

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/12/2021 at 8:25 am

Well, since you asked lol. I will do the core and strength classes daily. I am going to run a few times per week and do the boxing classes. I think I will be ok! 🙂

    Aruba. Big FOMO. But enjoy.

As usual you are active and so varied.

Wish we had a Hanukkah race around here.

We had a going away party for a running friend. She’s moving to silver springs. Near you?

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/12/2021 at 8:46 am

Silver Springs is about 40 min away so if you ever go visit her…I do like to mix up my workouts

I hope you have a wonderful time in Aruba – can’t wait to see all of the fun pictures you share! Are the kids able to join you?

Peloton boxing classes came up in conversation with someone at one of the Christmas parties we went to last night. The guy I was talking to was super pumped, too, that they’re now part of the workouts!

Thanks for the linkup and have a great week!

Will the boxing classes work if you don’t have a bag? I used to love kickboxing, but I don’t have a bag. Always wanted one but nowhere to put it!

Love that cherry blossom race shirt (at least I assume it’s a race shirt). 🙂

    Safe travels!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/13/2021 at 7:45 am

You don’t need any equipment at all for the boxing classes! I just put on my gloves for fun. The cherry blossom shirt is an inkburn shirt from a few years back it is nice and fleecy inside

Boxing classes are a great addition to the Peloton lineup! I’ve never tried boxing classes, but right now I’m battling tennis elbow so it would not be working for me. Sad! I’ll be stalking you on IG to see the sunny pics! Have fun!
