Thanks for joining Coco and me for the February Ultimate Coffee Date Linkup. Everybody loves a coffee date with friends right? These monthly linkups are just like one huge Coffee Date with all your fit friends. So let’s get right to it shall we.
If we were having coffee, I would ask you…
Do you have any big plans for the Super bowl? My husband is from Philly and I’ve never seen him so excited! He and my son are heading to Minnesota today for their first Super Bowl together. It is kind of cute how excited they are. My husband even dyed his hair green! He looks sort of like the grinch or something here LOL.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
Training for the Cherry Blossom Ten Miler officially starts this weekend. I am actually going to follow the official plan and train along with over 30 other moms in my MRTT group. I will also be sharing a weekly linkup each Sunday. If you are training for it as well feel free to link up tomorrow.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
This week’s Cherry Blossom plan calls for a run of 4-7 miles so I roped a few friends into do a local 10K this morning. I’ve done this For The Love 10K Valentine’s Day themed race the last few years and it’s always freezing. True to form, our temps dipped back down yesterday and it’s a balmy 18 degrees this morning. Brrr! I will be looking for our hot coffee when I get back!
Last year’s race when I got to meet Deb Runs in person.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
I did a lot of work on my nutrition in January. I participated in Laura’s 4 week Fit and Fueled Runner’s Nutrition course. I learned a lot about timing of nutrients and how to manage sugar in my diet. If you are looking for a little tune up her next course starts soon.
I also have been Amanda’s Tress’ Faster Way To Weight Loss 6 week program. I will be doing an in depth review in a few weeks. This program is centered around intermittent fasting and carb cycling. I have really become keenly aware of how carbs effect my body. Increasing my protein is still a challenge as a vegetarian but it’s a work in progress. I have 2 more weeks to go and I am curious to see my end results.
Ok I have been rambling on and on! It’s your turn-If we were having coffee today, what would you tell me?
Farrah says
hehehe, Eagles fans are intense! I’ve been on hospital service lately so my healthy eating has unfortunately gone out the window (so ironic ._.)–hoping to get back into the swing of things shortly though! Hope you’re staying warm!
Deborah Brooks says
Eagles fans are intense! It is funny that it is hard to find healthy food in a hospital!
Wendy says
That’s so awesome about your hubs and son going to the SB! I love that he dyed his hair green. Altho I am not a big fan of either team, for sure I’m rooting for the Eagles because who doesn’t like the underdog?
Thanks for hosting and have a great weekend!
Deborah Brooks says
I agree! I am sure they will have a blast either way. thanks for joining for coffee today
Marcia says
Oh goodness! Your “boys” will have so much fun! All the best with Cherry Blossom training and that freezing 10k!
Deborah Brooks says
It was pretty chilly out there today but you know we don’t let a little weather stop us!
Kimberly Hatting says
I hope your race goes well! Our temps dipped down the past couple days as well, and I’m headed out soon for a chilly run with my friend. Brrrr….I’ll be slamming some hot chai as soon as I kick off the shoes when I return home. Ha! Your husband’s hair! 😉
Deborah Brooks says
I know those crazy Philly fans! Stay warm today it’s chilly out there. Thanks for joining us for coffee
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Too funny that your husband dyed his hair green! I hope they enjoy the game, but you know I’ll be rooting for the Pats!
Hope your 10K wasn’t too cold! Thanks for the link-up.
Deborah Brooks says
I know they are crazy fans! It was cold but fun this morning
The Accidental Marathoner says
What fun for your husband and son to be going to the Super Bowl! And your husband’s hair is a riot. Sadly, my husband has so little you wouldn’t even notice if he dyed it LOL. Have fun at your race!
Deborah Brooks says
Ha ha on the hair! It was fun this morning but a little cold. Warming up w my coffee now
HoHo Runs says
Your husband is a true fan! Good luck today at the frigid 10k. I’m sure it’ll be fun regardless since you are running with friends. My friend and client Karen (Fit in France) uses FWTFL and she loves it. It has also worked well with her training. Thanks for the coffee!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes Karen told me how much it helped her and I impressed that she can stick to it while running so much. I am still figuring a few things out.
[email protected] says
Enjoy the game Deborah!
Deborah Brooks says
I am not going with them but I will be watching from home (it’s a lot cheaper lol)
vicki says
I’ll be rooting for the Eagles tomorrow… how fun for your husband and son to go to the game! Hope you are thawing out from the 10k this morning.
Chelsea says
Ha! I love your husbands hair!! How fun!! I bet they’ll have a blast!!
Great job focusing on your nutrition lately!! That’s always the best feeling ever when you really feel like you’re on top of your game nutrition wise! It really does seem to make a difference in everything else! 🙂
I hope you have a fabulous weekend Deborah!!
Deborah Brooks says
I hope so! Thanks
Teresa says
I love the pic of your son and hubby!! They are going to have a blast for sure! I’m not a fan of either team, so I’ll just be watching for the commercials. Lol
I’ve always wanted to run the Cherry Blossom …maybe one of the years I’ll get lucky!
Hope you survived the frigid temps this morning and have already warmed up with your favorite coffee …and maybe another cute cookie??
Deborah Brooks says
yes I did survive this morning! Need more cookies for sure
Kim W says
Your nutrition courses sound interesting. I would like to cut back on sugar and processed carbs, but I haven’t felt motivated enough to commit to really trying and focusing on it. What was your motivation secret?
Deborah Brooks says
the sugar is still a struggle for sure but I am getting used to after a few weeks. My motivation is to stay young as long as possible
Kim W says
That’s good motivation!
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Wow! I’m impressed that they’ll actually be there. I bet they have a fab time (other than the cold!). My husband isn’t a rabid fan so I doubt he would ever shell out the $$ for it — and his team (Vikings, oddly enough) didn’t make the cut, so that’s about it for him.
I really enjoyed Laura’s course & have been recommending it to everyone.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes they are having a great time already despite the crazy cold! Glad you enjoyed Laura’s course so much it gave me a lot to think about for sure
Maureen @ Maureen Gets Real says
I love that you used a local race to get your long run in! Great idea.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I’m over strong winds during runs. It happened both last night and this morning and it is tough going against the wind.
Deborah Brooks says
We had some crazy winds this week too-makes us tough runners!
Jennifer @ Fit Nana says
It’s going to be so fun to run the Cherry Blossom this year!! Hopefully we can meet up!
And, if we were having coffee, I’d tell you that I’d like both teams to lose this year. haha. I have a very very VERY strong dislike for the Patriots and, well, I’m a Redskins fan so…… not dyeing my hair green any time soon. LOL But, I will say that it’s very cool that your husband and son are going to the game!
Deborah Brooks says
I would love to meet up!
Clarinda says
I would tell you about my road trip to Minnesota! Hope it’s warm(ish) this weekend for the Superbowl!
Deborah Brooks says
Safe travels to you have a fantastic time!
Shannon @GirlsGotSole says
Ha, so funny that your husband dyed his hair for the Super Bowl! Guess he is excited. LOL!
So cool that you are doing the Cherry Blossom with a bunch of MRTT friends! That race is on my bucket list to do one day.
Have a great rest of the weekend! 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
It is definitely an iconic DC race hope you have the chance to run one one year
Erica @ Erica Finds says
Wow! Green hair – that’s commitment. Enjoy the game and I hope the Eagles win, too!
Have fun with your training group. I need some more structure in my training and eating for that matter. Interested to hear your results on that front, too!
Deborah Brooks says
They are very committed!
Kim G says
I am hoping that I can take that Fit and Fueled course once it’s offered again. I’ve heard some great things about it.
How exciting that your husband and son are going to Minnesota for the Super Bowl! I am sure that they will have a great time!
Deborah Brooks says
They are having the best time!
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
I really need to work on my nutrition! January was a hectic month but I’m hoping to slow down and really take the time to get back to cooking healthy meals. Laura’s great, I bet her course is awesome!
And congrats on that chilly race! February is such a tough time of the year to race!
Deborah Brooks says
Her course was great check it out!
Missy - Getting Fit to Find Myself says
I hope your husband and son enjoy the Super Bowl in the frozen tundra of Minnesota! We got 3-4 inches of snow yesterday and today the high was 5.
I read about Amanda Tress’ program a while ago and thought there was no way that I could do it. However, I am been following low carb for a month now and I think I would love her program. I may have to look into it!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes my husband is having a great time so far! I don’t know if I could live somewhere that was so cold! I am enjoying Amanda’s program and it’s not as hard as I thought it would be.
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
Awww, that was such a fun morning last year when we got to meet and have a real live coffee date after our 10K. I hope you didn’t freeze this year – it was a cold one! Thank goodness for being able to stay in the high school until the race is ready to start, right?
Deborah Brooks says
It was pretty darn cold yes! I do like the real bathrooms and warm school for waiting in
