February Ulitmate Coffee Date

Thanks for joining me and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee Date today. I love these posts and they are such a fun way to catch up on everything. Brr it’s cold outside this weekend so grab your blankets and your mugs and let’s chit chat!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…Is it just me or does January kind of feel like a Monday every single day? The first few weeks were trying to sugar detox from the holidays and get back to my regular eating plan. Most of the days were gray and cold and well, I am glad to see January go.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…today I am running my first race of 2107. As you are reading this I am doing the For The Love of it 10K . It’s a hilly course but lots of fun and Valentine’s Day themed. There is always a huge MRTT contingent from all over the area which leads me to the next thing I am going to tell you.

Last year’s pre race photo

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…I am finally going to meet up with Deb from Deb Runs today at the 1oK. We have been following each others’ blogs for years and we have never met in person. We only live about 45 minutes away from each other. We are meeting up for coffee after the race with a bunch of other MRTT members from her chapter. I am so excited it’s like a real in person live Ultimate Coffee Date!!

Icy trails meant a treadmill run followed by a swim this morning. Easing right back into the first week of tri training. How are you getting your sweat on today? #justkeepswimming #swimbikerun #motherrunner #fitlife #fitgoals #tritraining #sportandhealth #igothis #treadmillrunning #mrtt #fitfluential #sweatpink

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…After taking off of swimming and biking in December, I have now started my base building phase for my spring tri races. I started back swimming twice a week and biking indoors twice a week in January. It just kind of hit me today that I am wiped out. I know I will get used to the schedule again but wow I am tired.

So if we were having coffee today, what would you tell me?

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

So awesome you get to have an actual RL coffee date! I wish more of our regular bloggers lived within driving distance of me. Or came to visit. But I wouldn’t want to visit here, either. Have fun! Don’t forget the photos!

I think February is always the worst month. Spring is coming . . . except it’s really not.

It occurred to me that I didn’t know what MRTT was- even though you blog about it, I seem to have forgotten this morning (not enough coffee) so I googled and there is a chapter near me! So excited to maybe get with a group- I think it would be wonderful for those longer runs especially! Love your pool pic! When you said you are tired, my red flags always go to adrenals- I got low one year and it takes so long to come back from that fatigue- got to nip it in the bud and rest and repair!! AKA: sleep more! Thanks for the great link up, I always love this~ have a great afternoon!

Good luck today at the race! How fun it is you will get to meet Deb too. I hope to do a few sprint triathlons this summer and am back on my bike. But, the swimming part is so awkward for me. You look right at home in the pool! Thanks for coffee, Deborah!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/04/2017 at 12:49 pm

Ha I don’t know about that! I am much more comfortable in a pool than in open water for sure.

Well I’d say it’s about time you and Deb meet up then! Can’t wait to see pictures 🙂

I’ve already signed up for two 10k’s next month …one super hilly and one flat. I think I like this distance, enough of a challenge but over fairly quickly. Good luck with yours!

Swimming …..ugh, it wipes me out completely which is why I haven’t done it in years….which is why it wipes me out. Vicious cycle!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/04/2017 at 12:56 pm

10K’s are probably my favorite distance. Easy to train for and does not wipe you out for the whole day

How did your 10K go? My first race of the season isn’t till next month. A swim sounds like a perfect thing to do after a cold run, or any run for that matter. After my last half marathon I couldn’t wait to get into the hotel pool. It felt so good after running 13.1 miles!
How fun to get to meet other bloggers that you follow!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/06/2017 at 12:57 pm

The run was not so good my foot was bothering me but it was great to meet up with Deb and others and hang out.Yes I do love the swims right now
