When I realized that today was the February Runfessions day, I did not think that I had anything to Runfess. But then all kinds of ideas started running through  my mind. We mother runners always have something to Runfess.

February Runfessions

I Runfess…I have been struggling with my runs this month. I am not sure if it’s the weather, something physical or something in my mind. Perhaps a combination of the three. Anyway, it seems to be getting slightly better and maybe I am seeing some improvement. Yesterday’s run was a lot better.

February Runfessions

I Runfess…Although I am feeling slightly behind in my Cherry Blossom training this year, seeing the medal reveal this week gave me a mental boost. It is going to be a fun weekend of miles and smiles with friends. I will be hosting Kim (Running on the Fly) and Linda (the accidental marathoner) this year and I am counting the days. Anyone else going to be in town?

February Runfessions

I Runfess…I am now finishing up my second RunBet challenge and still loving it. On these winter weeks where I could find every excuse not to go outside for a walk or run, knowing that I am “in the game” gives me that extra push. I am enjoying it so much that I have set up my own game starting March 4th.

It’s very doable and the rules are super simple. Run/walk 4x week for at least 30 minutes maintaining an 18mm or less. Perfect for runners and walkers. You basically “bet” against yourself to finish the challenge. If you do, you get your money back. (There is a $40 buy in bet). It would be fun for some of you to join me. Let’s support each other and get this done. Join my game here and then download the app.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

February is just a tough month. It’s short but long since it’s still winter and not much to look forward to weatherwise. I struggled on runs too so I get it.

The Cherry Blossom medal looks awesome. Definitely need to add that race to my list.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/22/2019 at 8:38 am

Yes definitely one to add to your list for next year

I wish I could join all of you doing the Cherry Blossom race this year 🙁 Unfortunately the Hot Chocolate 15K in Philly is the day before so I couldn’t do both, but there’s always next year!

    • Deborah Brooks says

    FOMO on Cherry Blossom.

I so want to get in one year. Maybe next year!! I want to race in DC but it is quite expensive to stay and get there.

Can you manually add you miles to RunBet. I don’t sync.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/22/2019 at 10:30 am

Yea come do CB next year! You do have to sync from something for RunBet. You can use Strava or run keeper if you run w your phone it will add it.

  6. Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says

    02/22/2019 at 10:00 am

It’s much easier for me to be motivated when I have a race on the calendar and now I don’t. 🙁

Some months I don’t think I have anything to runfess — until I sit down to write!

I really wish I could be there for Cherry Blossom! I’m sure you gals are going to have a blast. Enjoy!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/22/2019 at 10:31 am

I think that every month about the Runfessions! Maybe next year for CB!

  7. Julie @ Running in a Skirt says

    02/22/2019 at 10:14 am

I’d love to do the Cherry Blossom 10 miler someday! It sounds like a great race!
My friend is moving back to DC this summer so hopefully while she’s there I can visit and we can meet!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/22/2019 at 10:32 am

That would be great! Let me know when you come to town

  8. Michelle @ Running with Attitude says

    02/22/2019 at 11:06 am

I’m bummed I couldn’t make Cherry Blossom work this year! You all will have such fun…and that medal!

From what I’m hearing February has been a bit of a struggle for a number of us – hopefully, your last run is a sign of good things to come!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/22/2019 at 7:02 pm

It has been quite a struggle I am hoping things are starting to turn around

  9. [email protected] says

    02/22/2019 at 11:34 am

It can’t be easy to run outside in the winter, I think that would hinder anyones motivation. That Cherry Blossom race always looks so pretty.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/22/2019 at 7:03 pm

It has been especially tough going this past month but I will keep pushing through

  10. Allie says

    02/22/2019 at 12:24 pm

Running the Cherry Blossom 10 miler has been on my list forever…and I have a pretty short list! I always forget about it and it’s right around the time of my kids’ birthdays but one of these years I vow to do it!!! For now, I will live vicariously though your blog posts and instagram 🙂

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/22/2019 at 7:06 pm

It is a fantastic race hope you get to come run it sometime. The weather is usually great in April

  11. Erica @ Erica Finds says

    02/22/2019 at 12:40 pm

I need a diet bet more than a run bet these days 😉 I’ve been averaging 40 miles a week. I’m the weird one that likes winter running and treadmill – LOL.

I want to do Cherry Blossom. When is the sign up/lottery? Maybe I’ll come next year!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/22/2019 at 7:07 pm

I usually prefer winter running and I still do. My body just is not cooperating as much as it usually does this time of the year. The lottery is in December for the April race. Will try to remind you next year

  12. Kimberly Hatting says

    02/22/2019 at 2:23 pm

I am SOOOO excited for Cherry Blossom!!! Every time I see that pic of you with the five fingers and thumbs-up, I think you’re clapping LOL As I said in one of my comments (on Insta or FB), I’d be clapping, too, for an outdoor run. The cabin fever is not fun….

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/22/2019 at 7:08 pm

I bet the cabin fever is getting old! I have still been able to get out for my runs so at least there’s that!

  13. Marcia says

    02/22/2019 at 4:25 pm

Hopefully your mojo will return with spring. This winter was a toughie for sure. I’m still bummed I can’t make the Cherry Blossom festivities. That’s a pretty medal!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/23/2019 at 8:50 am

I know we will miss you! Have to plan something else for fall maybe

    • Deborah Brooks says

      we definitely will!

  15. Laurie says

    02/22/2019 at 5:01 pm

Good runfessions! I would love to join in the game, but I never run with technology. I am decidedly old school in that area. Now I have FOMO reading about all you runners running the Cherry Blossom. I love that race! Such a pretty time to be in DC. A group of us used to treat ourselves to brunch at the Kennedy Center after the Cherry Blossom. What a splurge!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/23/2019 at 5:09 pm

I used to go to the Kennedy center for brunch with my grandma years ago. I have to see what they still have going on

  16. Becca | Rabbit Food Runner says

    02/22/2019 at 6:00 pm

I also runfess that I’ve been struggling. I’m glad I’m not the only one but geez I wish it would stop. The weather is a factor – I’m not getting outside as much to run, which negatively impacts my mood and then just makes everything a bit more blah.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/23/2019 at 5:10 pm

I really have no excuse really. Just need to get it done!

  17. Zenaida Arroyo says

    02/23/2019 at 10:31 am

I am jealous (but happy) of Cherry Blossom and wished I were going too. I totally forgot to enter the lottery last year. Hopefully I’ll remember this year as I would love to run it.

I’ve been meaning to sign up for a RunBet (I also want to do set one up for us bloggers) so will look into the one you have created.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/23/2019 at 5:18 pm

I really hope you will join the Run bet it’s lots of fun
