Thanks for joining me and Coco for the February 2025 Ultimate Coffee Date catch up today. There’s nothing better than catching up with a warm mug of coffee on a chilly day with friends. Let’s jump right in.
February 2025 Ultimate Coffee Date
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
I had an interesting chat with my Gyn at my yearly check up. While she was happy that menopause is now a topic that people can feel more freely discussing and sharing about, She was dismayed about the false information out there especially on IG and TikTok.
She is concerned about “women’s wellness” companies that are prescribing hormones and other medications to women who may not need them.(yet) Menopause seems like the buzzword to make money much like the old diet culture. Just a gentle reminder to be smart about who you take medical advice from and who “menopause experts really are.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
I’ve used chat GPT a few times to get some inspiration for IG photos, notes I was sending to people and even recipe ideas. You can upload a photo and ask it to caption it and then tweak it to fit your style. I’ve also gotten some great recipe inspiration. A few weeks ago, I asked Chat GPT which peloton program was best to meet my goals. Spot on advice!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
I’ve been testing out a Stelo CGM (continuous glucose monitor) for the past few weeks. It is a non prescription option for those who do not have diabetes but want to gain a better understanding of their own metabolic health. As someone who is “pre-diabetic” this is very important to me. I have learned a lot about how the foods I eat, when I eat them and how my exercise all impact my glucose. Every body is different so it is helpful to know how yours reacts.
That’s about all I’ve got to share for this February 2025 coffee date today! If we were having coffee, what would you tell me?
It’s great that we have access to so much information these days…but scary as well. It’s really tough to discern what is valid and what is not, and (most importantly) what is best for each of us individually. Yikes!
yes exactly this!
Thanks for your PSA. It’s a daily battle against misinformation + so many of these companies try to pit their customers against their physicians (if I hear one more of those, “watch this to see what YOUR doctor isn’t telling you!!!” videos… ._.). They are so predatory.
I’ve been telling more of my patients without diabetes about the non-rx CGMs! I’m glad they came out with those as an option + I’m glad it’s been helpful for you!
Yes it is amazing how much info is out there good and misleading. I am sure you hear this daily. Similar to the diet industry. Yes, the CGMs can give you lots of actionable info
I think your Gyn is absolutely right—there’s so much marketing noise around menopause, and some of the training advice aimed at menopausal women is especially questionable (often coming from suspiciously young, enthusiastic men…🤔).
Stelo CGM sounds like a really interesting tool! I’m off to Google it now—thanks for the tip!
It is scary how much info is out there that is incorrect-kind if like the diet industry. I learned a lot with the CGM-I will probably do a whole post on it
I have a glucose monitor sitting here waiting for me to use. After my hubby’s heart issues, he started using one and got one for me as well. I so hear you on the controversial menopause advice!
I got some really great actionable info from using the CGM. Every body is so different and it’s kind of eye oening
After seeing the “Athlete Intelligence” recap of my workouts on Strava, I was inspired to start using AI as well. I just used Gemini to guide me with the description of the rock formations in Badlands NP for an upcoming recap and after reading your post, downloaded ChatGPT.
Ha ok looking forward to reading it!
I’m glad I’m way past menopause… I even started running after.
That monitor sounds very useful.
I haven’t had time to play much with Chat GPT. I plan to… but so little time.
So far the perimenopause is not that bad for me just more annoying hope it stays that way
I would agree with your GYN. Sadly, I think we’re in a time where there’s misinformation on a lot of fronts.
I’ve played around with ChatGPT – it can be very helpful!
yes, there is so much medical info out there now on Menopause that is just not right
Yeah, there’s a lot of bad medical advice about everything on the internet, but “menopause” hits a demographic desperate for relief.
It will be interesting to see what you learn from the CGM.
agreed it seems to be the buzzword to sell us everything
That glucose app is incredible — it’s amazing what you can do now.
Now that I just turned 40, I’m getting targeted with Instagram, TIkTok, etc. content re: menopause, perimenopause, etc. I don’t know what to believe!
I haven’t used ChatGPT enough – I know it can do so much, including help meal plan, plan recipes, etc. I need to take the time to get better at using it!
it is pretty amazing all the ads for menopause related stuff!
I need to get that gadget for me. Diabetes runs in my family, and I’ve been pre-diabetic a few times. I hope you write a post about it.
Now is the time to address it for sure! I do plan to write more about it
I try to avoid ChatGPT and other AI. I’ve seen Terminator. And I, Robot. I know how this ends.
ha ha yes that!
