Fall & Winter Race Plans

Veteran’s Day 10K- November 10th

There is something that just takes my breath away about running the Veteran’s Day 10K in DC. Walking to the start line, passing by the Veteran’s memorial at dawn and seeing so many Veteran’s already there paying tribute to their friends and family is quite emotional. Makes me literally stop and think about thankful I am. This course is flat and fast route through Hains Point in DC and a fun way to kick off fall racing.

Bethesda Turkey Chase 10K-November 28th

I do love a good sweat right on Thanksgiving morning. This is my favorite way to start celebrating the holiday season.

Jingle All The Way 15K- December 8th

A super fun way to get into the holiday spirit. Hope to have a good running base built up so it does not feel too hard to run almost 10 miles. This is a very similar course to the Cherry Blossom 10 miler in April. Always a super fun medal too!

Jingling all the way

Rock n Roll New Orleans Half marathon- February 9th

I’ve never been to New Orleans so naturally I conned a few of the girls to come along for a fun weekend. I hear the race is a blast! I am so excited about this one. Anyone else want to join us?!

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

In 2 weeks I have the Marine Corps 10k and the doctor said after that I need to allow more time for my foot to heal but the turkey chase or the turkey trot look like so much fun. 🙂

You know I’m not doing much planning ahead right now! I do have the Hot Chocolate in November –I have yet to sign up–and I’ll do a Turkey Trot as well. Taking it as it comes.

You are gonna LOVE NOLA! It’s foodie heaven. Feb should be a decent month, too. Mine was end of March and it was hotter than Hades. Seriously, even my FL & MS friends were wilting.

All the local ones sound like a lot of fun, too!

Yes I am really excited about NOLA and hoping it’s not hot!

I have NYC next mth. I like to do a longer race on Thanksgiving rather than a turkey Trot since I feel like I eat so much on that day. But last year it was freezing where I live, so not sure if I wi run at all.

I like the 10K on Thanksgiving for a nice calorie burn off too. Good luck in NYC

A half marathon in New Orleans sounds so fun! This is the second time you’ve mentioned a Thanksgiving Day race and it keeps reminding me to sign up for one.

I’ve wanted to do RnR NOLA forever!!!! I’ve been to Mardi Gras in Mobile, but never to NOLA (where I’m sure it’s much bigger). Glad you got your mojo back and lots of fun stuff in the works 🙂

    That Jingle medal is awesome.
After the marathon I only have the Ted Corbitt 15K on the calendar for 2019. Depending on when I go to Florida I may do a Delray Jingle Bell Jog.
2020 is Fort Lauderdale (January) and Bermuda (February). I just got a whim of doing 12 Halfs during the year so need to get on finding ten more if I’m going to consider this. I’m sad that I don’t think I can make Cherry Blossom work schedule wise next year as I really wanted to do it again and meet some of you

wow 12 half races in 2020 would probably kill me! 🙂

It would kill my budget for sure. I don’t think we have any here between May and September
