Wow did this month fly by! It’s time for a few Fast February Runfessions. Thanks to Marcia for hosting. Let’s jump right in here.
Fast February Runfessions
I Runfess…
I can’t believe my Asheville half is only 3 weeks away! Seems like forever ago that I signed up and started training. As I have mentioned, I’ve been participating in an 8-week training program through Team Wilpers (a Peloton spin-off). I have never trained with super-specific workouts like this before and I am really enjoying them. I am excited to see how this training will affect my race.
I Runfess…
As much as I have enjoyed the training, I am feeling ready for tapering. When I start running over 10 miles on a regular basis, I definitely feel it. I’ve got one more long run this weekend and then will start backing off. It’s been a while since I did a true taper and I wonder if I will get that antsy feeling again?
I Runfess…
On a lighter note, I have started watching a few different TV shows from the really great to the absurd. I am loving Gilded Age on Netflix with Christine Baransky and Cynthia Nixon. The costumes are amazing and the dialogue is fantastic. A must watch in my book. I was super excited for the return of “Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” but sadly, I am not really liking the new season.
My daughter got me into watching “Love is blind” also Netflix which is really just an absurd premise. Couples “date” without seeing each other through walls in pods. They are self matched and then engaged before they meet in person. This season takes place in Chicago so my daughter was excited about it. It is not as horrible as the bachelor but kind of ridiculous. It would make a good treadmill show.
That is about all I have today! Any good shows for me?
Hope to see you next week at the Ultimate Coffee Date right here with me and Coco.
I’m so glad you are enjoying the training program — and glad you reached out to get a slot! I can’t wait to hear about teh pay off.
We have been saving Mrs. Maisel for this weekend. 😉 We finally watch Mare of Easton. A true drama, but really good.
^Mare of Easttown^
I am excited to see how it plays out on race day too. Mare was also really good!
I’m also looking forward to hearing all about your race! I’m glad you enjoyed the training program. I was thinking about you today because I was listening to a podcast about tempo runs. Anyway I hope you enjoy your long run and upcoming taper- you’ll have more time to binge watch absurd TV shows!
ha yes there is a silver lining ha
Alas, nothing on the show front, but thanks for the recommendations!
I’m excited to see how your training pays off too, Deborah. And to hear about the half. I’ve always wanted to go to Asheville!
I have long had Asheville on my bucket list too so it will be fun to spend a few days there
We watched the first season of Love is Blind…kind of a “you can’t look away” type of show. I was really surprised they did a second season because, like you, I thought it was a major eye roll. I need to check out Gilded Age…both those gals are incredible:-)
I never watched the first season of love is blind but far into the second. Can you imagine if one of your kids did it??? Ha. Gilded Age is really great
I LOVE the Guilded Age!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was filmed in Troy, NY (outside Albany.)
Very excited to hear how your race goes. I’ve never really trained for a race… probably should at some point..
Enjoy the taper.
Gilded Age is so good! The costumes are amazing. I have never trained like this before either and I am excited to see how it pays off
Excited to hear how your race goes! I love Asheville – but it’s very hilly!
I’ve never watched Love is Blind. Bummed to hear you’re not enjoying Ms. Maisel. I didn’t love the end of last season but had high hopes. We still have to watch the new season of Ozark. We’re watching Atypical and that satire with Kristen Bell on the thrillers – Girl in the Window something something
oh yes, we watched the Kristin Bell show it was really good too. We are also watching Ozarks. There was like nothing to watch for a while and now so much!
I think your training will most definitely pay off! So exciting! We’ve only watched one episode of the new season of Mrs. Maisel but I agree it left much to be desired. We also just finished the new episodes of Ozark. Kind of glad we got through them #notmyfave.
I think you would like Gilded Age too
Great to hear how much you’ve enjoyed Matt’s training program. Can’t wait to hear how your race goes!
I haven’t done much streaming lately – I still need to get back to the second season of the Morning Show.
OH yes that was good too!
I always like having a training plan–it’s fun to check off the workouts! I’m glad it’s been a good plan for you. You are going to crush your half!
I agree with you about Mrs Maisel–I have no desire to watch more episodes. I keep thinking, this is the 1950s and she’s throwing the f-word around like people do now? I hope the show finds its way. the Gilded age is on my list. We just finished season 3 of Yellowstone–LOVE this show so far. Now we are watching 1883, which is the prequel to Yellowstone. We don’t have cable so I have to keep subscribing to the different streaming services, it’s so ridiculous
I have not had a specific training plan like this that I actually stuck to in a long time. It was just what I needed right now. Mrs. M is just kind of depressing this season and not as funny. Gilded age is so good you will love it. Yellowstone was fantastic. Was not sure about 1883
Excited about your upcoming race! Sounds like you are ready for it. I’ve been watching a Spanish show with my mom on Netflix on the weekends. During the week I watch “Chicago Med” but am trying not to watch too much of it but rather spend my extra time reading a book.
Whatever helps you relax!
