End of the Year Runfessions and Confessions

It’s the end of the month and the end of the year already!? The perfect time to share some runfessions and confessions. Thanks to Marcia for hosting. Let’s jump right in.

Runfessions

I Runfess and Confess…

We binge-watched the entire new season of Jack Ryan (amazon prime)  and Emily in Paris (Netflix) while on the plane and the last few days. Okay, Emily is just the best and most fun dressed person ever! I do love a feel good show. Now, I have to wait forever for the next season. I also Runfess and Confess that I have a whole new travel bucket list as well. I’ve never been to Prague and always wanted to visit there. I will also confess that I was never one of those people who loved Paris. Maybe my kids were too young when we were there. It’s now back on my list again!

I Runfess and confess…

I have been working my butt off to hit that 15K milestone on Peloton before the end of the year i.e. tomorrow. When I realized a few weeks ago that I was about 1500 minutes away, I made it my December goal to make it happen. I have been doing a ridiculous number of stretch and strength classes daily. While in Aruba, I also did some guided runs and walks which I never do. I am just about there! One day to go. I do find it fun to set mini-goals like this every once in a while.

Dashing into December

I Runfess and confess…

Coming home from vacation to find our bedroom ceiling leaking was not the vibe I was hoping to hold onto. It’s been a little bit of a mess this week getting a technician over here first to diagnose and then to fix it. We have a giant hole in our ceiling which will need to be drywalled. On the upside, we have been wanting to change our paint color in there!

That’s all I’ve got to Runfess and Confess today! Happy New Year everyone. See you Sunday for the Weekly Run Down and next Friday for the first Coffee Date of 2023.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

Good luck with that Peleton goal.

I binged Emily in Paris. Just love Paris the food and her clothes.

It is such a fun and silly show 🙂

Ugh on the ceiling leak! I’m glad you are able to see a bright side.

I am sure you will reach that Peloton goal — and all that extra stretching is so good for you! I will be a few hundred short of 25K minutes, with all my walking classes. Did you enjoy the running classes in Aruba?

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/30/2022 at 8:38 am

I think if I was actually doing the run class on a Peloton tread, I would enjoy it. Just listening to it while running outside did nothing for me. I can see why other people enjoy them though

I started watching Emily in Paris but it was so long ago that I would need to start over. I keep forgetting about that show!
Painting is such a pain, but can be so satisfying when you get your room all done and put back together. please show us what paint color you choose!

I just saw that Emily dropped this week…I love that show! I agree, it’s a fun, light-hearted feel-good show with cute fashion 🙂 I hope your new year is fabulous <3

I definitely encourage you to give Paris another try – truly one of my favorite cities!

Sorry about the leaky ceiling – at least you’ll get to do a little re-decorating 🙂

Good luck wrapping up those final Peloton minutes!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/30/2022 at 2:18 pm

Yes, I do think we have to give Paris another try! The leak is fixed and now to get the hole patched up-it’s always something

Yes, mini-goals like that are fun! It gives you a fun project to work on.
Well, you’ll get your wish of a new paint color in the bedroom! Not a great way to come home from vacation though. I hope it’s resolved soon.
    Happy New Year!

you know how it is there is always something to fix or maintain in the house!

We have one more episode of Emily left. Ok, it’s really a stupid show but I LOVE it. Sometimes we all need to escape and as you said, it’s such a feel-good show. She’s just so happy! I want what she’s smoking, lol

Bummer on the ceiling leak. I swear, it’s always something!!! What color will you pick?

      12/31/2022 at 9:52 am

It is a fun show and my daughter and I love to chat about it. Her clothes are just the best! Yes, super annoying on the leak. The hubs wants to do a dark grey so we shall see

  8. Jenn says

    12/30/2022 at 9:18 pm

Not a leaking ceiling! Yuck! I’m so sorry!
    Prague sounds amazing!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/31/2022 at 9:52 am

Yes, it’s always something in the house!

  9. Catrina says

Now I’ll have to look out for Jack Ryan, it sounds pretty good.
For the first Jason Bourne film (“Bourne Identity”), they wanted to film the bank scenes in Zurich. However, they didn’t get a permit so they filmed it in Prague instead. It’s quite funny because the cars have fake Swiss number plates and the trams are made up to look like the Zurich ones.

      12/31/2022 at 9:53 am

Oh ha that is so interesting! Seems like a lot of shows are filmed in Prague. There were a few episodes that were supposed to be in Moscow and I can’t imagine they actually were filmed there unless it was a while back

Oh no on the bedroom ceiling! That is not fun. I’m so sorry. We have ongoing plumbing problems in this house, and it chose this week to rear its ugly head — all fixed til the next time.

I did some binge watching this week too. It’s pretty rare for me but I needed something to entertain me this week. I got hooked on Firefly Lane (Netflix).

I’ve been to Prague & highly recommend it although it was SO cold — in October! I also really enjoyed my trip to Paris.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      12/31/2022 at 2:41 pm

I also watched Firefly lane I have one episode to go! We have never had a leak before and it’s not fun at all!

Oh no! I’m sorry you came home to a leak! The morning we were to leave for Dubai our basement flooded and we left with some sort of cleanup team drying the whole thing out and gutting it. Ugh!
I know you pushed hard for that 25k. Way to make it happen!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/01/2023 at 5:56 pm

it’s never a good time for a leak!

  12. Renée says

Happy New Year Deborah! we have been binge watching Netflix too but other shows. I tried to start Emily season 3 but at that moment wasn’t in the mood (I watched 1 and 2 pretty much exclusively on the treadmill!). And hey if you make it to Paris again let me know! I’m 5.5 hours away (in the scope of the European continent, that’s pretty close). I didn’t like Paris at all the first few times I went, but I have a new appreciation for it now. Maybe something to do with my first marathon? :). Prague is fabulous as well. I am sure you would love it.

Knowing you I’m certain you reached your peloton goal ! And what a great milestone!

What a bummer about the leak in the ceiling but good that you can see the silver linings!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/02/2023 at 8:40 am

Yes, I will let you know net time I am in your neck of the woods!

  13. Shathiso says

I haven’t watched Emily in Paris – I should start! I’ve been looking for a light, feel-good show! Sometimes my choices are on the darker side! Sorry about the leak – yes, not the way to end a great holiday!

It is a fun show to watch!
