Easing into August Weekly Run Down

Thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run down. I’m easing into August and sweating my way through the week. Here is a peek into my week of fitness.

Easing into august Weekly Run Down

Sunday- 3 mile power walk + stretch

I woke up with a cranky lower back for some reason and started off with a few stretch classes. Those seemed to do the trick and I headed out for a 3 mile power walk. It was off to a farewell brunch with my daughter and her boyfriend before they headed back to Chicago. It’s always so hard to say goodbye after they visit.

Monday- Peloton hike + 45 min lower body and core +afternoon walk

I’m always super motivated on a Monday  morning! Today was day 2 of Rebecca’s new 3 day split. Legs and core were a great challenge. I’m definitely going to feel those tomorrow. Later, I popped out for a walk while chattting on the phone to my mom.(with my new weighted vest on)

Tuesday-3.75 run/walk + core +stretch

I definitely woke up feeling yesterday’s leg workout! A quick warm up and short walk pre run helped. It was another tough going humid filled run with lots of walk breaks. Gotta just keep moving forward!

Weekly run down

Wednesday- Peloton hike + 45 min upper body pull + Pilates core + 2 mile walk

It was an active and sweaty one over here. I started off with my Peloton walk and then banged out day 3 of Rebecca’s new program. Today was upper body pull and I loved it. bonus-I know my legs will be working tomorrow am. Later, I headed out for a 2 mile walk with a friend. I am testing out a weighted vest for my walks. Only a crazy person would test out a weighted vest when it’s 97 degrees. I am that crazy person.

Thursday 3+ miles run walk + core + stretch

Another super hot morning over here. It was 88 when we finished running at 9:15 ugh. I’m trying to focus on the fact that I am grateful to be out there even if it sucks.

Weekly run down

Friday- 45 min hiking bootcamp + core + barre

After a late night out with my husband at a work dinner, I slept in a bit. I opted for a bootcamp today so I can start week 2 of Rebecca’s program back on MWF schedule. Somehow, I’ve found myself in 3 Peloton programs for August. Today, a new 4 week barre program dropped with classes 3x a week so those are easy to fit into my workouts. I am also doing Marty’s core challenge which is 6 core classes a week. I may need to get tips from San to manage them all!

So much for easing into August! But, I’m ready to put in the work the next 4 weeks and I am actually at home for 4 weeks. Let’s do it!

Saturday- neighborhood walk + core

Saturdays are my rest days usually. I did take advantage of a slightly cooler morning to get in a walk and test out my new weighted vest. More on this soon!

You are always so active. It’s so hard to run in this heat. I love the way you mix things up.

thanks I have learned that summer running is just not enjoyable and life is too short to do exercise that I don’t enjoy

Your workouts in the heat are impressive! I’m struggling with motivation–but this always seems to happen this time of year. Interested to learn more about your weighted vest!

Happens to me every summer and I have learned how to mix it up. I think it’s good for our bodies to cycle as well. I am loving the vest so far. Full review to come soon

That weighted vest has me intrigued! I need to check-out the Barre program & Rebecca’s Split (after my shoulder stabilizes, that is).

yes, I am keeping myself busy with all the challenges! I am loving the vest so far

Three programs is a lot to keep up with, but I think you’ve picked three that complement each other well.

A weighted vest does sound hot — I dont’ even want to run with a hydration vest in this weather!

      08/04/2024 at 9:29 am

yes I think they compliment each other well. So far so good. I am enjoying the extra challenge of the vest so far

That’s more like a hyper active week than an easing into something! Ambitious to go out with the weighted vest in the hot weather but of course you want to test it! 6 core classes a week sounds intense, but it seems like you’re already doing a lot of core strength so it should be a piece of cake?

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/04/2024 at 9:30 am

I am already doing lots of core yes so that’s the easiest one to manage! I like the challenge of the weighted vest-I could see you dong that!

My husband gave me a weighted vest for Christmas! I haven’t really used it yet but will start using it when I go for shorter walks during the autumn.

oh my, a weighted vest in the heat? yes you are crazy and also amazing and inspiring! I love the variety of your workouts.

Yes, you’re going to need help San’s help managing all your programs! It sounds fun though.

I personally would not run with it as running is hard enough for me. Lol I am enjoying my walks with it

A vest for rucking? We have a group around here that I often see rucking. I think I will take cycling over a weighted vest in this heat 😉 Yes, always good to be thankful on your ability to get out and run!

It is a hot time of the year to start with the vest but I like it so far

  9. San says

Way to get out there, despite the heat/humidity! That’s impressive. The heat always gets to me so easily and it was quite warm here again even in the mornings… the humidity on top of that must be so hard.
I love that you’re doing three (!) programs… I am intrigued by all the new ones that dropped lately. I am telling you, it’s like playing Tetris to fit it all (I actually have a spreadsheet where I plan things out – here’s my tip for you! ;)).

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/05/2024 at 7:35 am

The humidity is killer for me! So many new programs to try. I will never get bored. I’m not in your league yet but I am going to do all 3!
