You all know how much I love taking run tours when I travel. I’ve previously written about my running adventures in Tel Aviv, San Francisco, Chicago, Vancouver, and New York. Last week, I was lucky enough to run with Simon from Go Running tours in Downtown Las Vegas.
Downtown Las Vegas Run Tour
I have traveled to Las Vegas many times and have run on the “strip” on my own and in the Rock n Roll half. This time, I wanted to venture into a “new to me” area. I found Go Running Tours and signed up to do a run in the old part of the city “downtown”.Here is a peek at our route and what we saw along the way.
The Sights
I met my guide, Simon at Fremont Street by the Container Park. The container park is an open area now filled with boutique shops and restaurants. It is more of an afternoon and evening space so nothing was open there at the time. We saw some fun sculptures and street art.
We headed back to Fremont Street and saw the world’s largest LED screen and a bunch of the old casinos from back in the day. The Golden Nugget and Binions were quite popular. There is a zip line that runs overhead in the evenings. (Note to self to come back and do that). What a difference in look from today’s casinos on the strip.
We headed back to Main Street to see some more street art and quirky shops and bars. In the morning, when we ran, the streets are pretty empty.
Next, we hit Las Vegas Boulevard and the infamous showgirls statue. This is the start of the “Las Vegas Strip”
We then ran past the Stratosphere hotel and towards the newer part of the strip. Simon ran me right back to the Venetian/Palazzo Resort.
Our total mileage was about 5 miles with lots of photo stops. A huge thanks to my guide, Simon. He provided some great insight into the history and lore of old Las Vegas. Of course, he was also a fabulous photographer and fun running partner. If you find yourself, in Las Vegas, give Simon at Go Running Tours a try. It’s a fun way to see the city!
Thanks for helping to make the Runners’ Roundup a huge success by visiting all of the hosts: Me, Debbie, Jen, Lisa

I was hoping for a post like this! What a fabulous running tour with absolutely stunning photos!
Your favourite photo is my favourite, too. It would certainly be my profile pic on my phone for a while.
Did you get to do the zip line tour in the evening?
Deborah Brooks says
I had events every evening for my husband’s work, so no time to go back and do the zip line. Next time for sure

I have you to do an official run tour, and that needs to change. That said, I don’t do much traveling to places where these tours probably exist, LOL. Vegas is such a unique place, and it’s crazy how different it looks in the daytime compared to evening.

You know I am ready to be your DC tour guide anytime! Yes, it does look quite different in the day time

I think your run tours always sound so interesting and fun. I’ve run in Vegas a few times (once with a bunch of bloggers in town for the IDEA Convention). I’d love to see the city from a local’s point of few (and get off the strip!)

It is always fun to explore new parts away from the hubub
