Deload and Destress kind of weekly run down

Thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run. This week I’m at Canyon Ranch in the Berkshires with my mom and sister. I’m using this week as a proper deload from my current strength training block and a destress of sorts. I plan to do a lot of yoga and stretching classes along with a little pampering.

Sunday-travel to Canyon Ranch + core class

Today I headed out with my mom and sister for a few days at Canyon Ranch for some rest, destress and deload. It’s an easy flight to Hartford, CT and then about an hour drive to Lenox, Massachusetts.

I found fall! It’s just gorgeous here.

all

Monday-yoga + boot camp + BOGA fit map + Pilates + stretch

I started off my stay here with a very ambitious schedule! yes, I did say I was doing a deload week and I will be refraining from heavy lifting. All the classes here are designed so that you can take a number of them daily. It’s been a while since I was in a real yoga class and that was nice. I had fun at the outdoor bootcamp and even flipped a tire or 2.

Tire flip

Later, my sister and I took a BOGA fit mat class. Think of an unstable raft that you do crazy moves on. We had a blast!

deload and destress

We finished off the afternoon with a Pilates reformer class and a stretch class with our mom. Whew! Relaxing is hard work.

Tuesday- yoga + Berkshire Beat + afternoon hike

I have been liking starting the day with yoga. Afterwards, my mom and sister and I took my mom’s favorite class. This class is all about drumming on a physioball while doing squats and grapevines etc. It is super corny but fun!

That afternoon, I went on a gorgeous 2 hour hike in The Berkshires. It was a gorgeous day and the views were fab.

Wednesday-yoga + stretch class + Kayaking

It was an easy morning at the ranch doing a few classes with my mom and sister. After lunch, my sister and I went on a kayaking adventure. It was so peaceful as we were the only ones out on the water to take in the beautiful views.

I ended my day with a nice deep tissue massage before dinner. Aah!

Thursday-yoga + TRX core

Our last morning at Canyon Ranch had me in an athletic yoga class followed by a TRX core class. I ended my stay with a relaxing body scrub. It’s so fabulous to be treated to a few days here by my mom and so hard to leave!

destress

Friday-power walk

Back home and back to errands and laundry.

Saturday-Peloton cycle and tread walk

I kept up my deload and destress week by taking a low impact cycle and tread class. Later, I got my covid vax and hoping for no side effects.

I had a pretty fantastic week all around and I’m feeling very refreshed. I’ve also learned that my body really appreciates doing more stretching and yoga and I hope that I can continue to add that into my life more intentionally.

Such beautiful colours! It certainly looks like a good week for you, the Boga fit mat and drumming thing while doing moves looks like so much fun! Although being someone who’s not a good swimmer and hates having the head under water, the fit mat activity probably wouldn’t be for me!

yes you really do not have to be a swimmer per say and the water is pretty shallow-win all around

Your time at Canyon Ranch with your mom and sister sounds wonderful, and the leaves are already so beautiful up there in the Berkshires! Our fall trip is going to be to the Great Smokey Mountains this year so we’re doing it a little later to catch the fall foliage which will be a later farther south.
