Thanks for popping in with Coco and me for the December 2022 Ultimate Coffee Date. Grab your favorite mug and let’s chat and catch up. If we were having coffee, I would have so much to chit chat about.
December 2022 Ultimate Coffee Date
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
When I was in Las Vegas a few weeks ago, I was up earlier than usual due to the time change. Of course, I was looking for coffee asap. There was a Starbucks in the lobby of my hotel which I visited every morning because I thought it was faster than room service. When I tell you the line was insane at 7:30 in the morning and I waited up to 30 minutes each day. I would also share that, unlike my co-host Coco, I really don’t like Starbucks coffee. And, I would also add that this particular Starbucks was reportedly one of the most expensive in the country. I was not happy on many levels. Brightside, I got through all of my emails and caught up on IG and FB while in line. In addition, I should say that I was in my pajamas every morning. Yup, seriously.

This one might be more of a confession or runfession. A few days before the aforementioned Las Vegas trip, I got eyelash extensions. Yes, I realize this sounds very diva-like. They are kind of trendy right now and I figured why not try them for a week in Vegas? They have really grown on me-pun intended. Typically, extensions last about 3-4 weeks before needing to be touched up. I figured I might as well get my money’s worth and keep them through the holidays. No mascara needed!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
I watched the Lindsay Lohan “Falling for Christmas” movie on Netflix. It is cheesy and cute and predictable but hey, couldn’t resist. I will probably watch “Love Actually” this week too. How about you any Christmas movies?
That’s about all I’ve got today. If we were having coffee, what would you tell me?
Kimberly Hatting says
I haven’t even thought of Christmas movies yet… we almost always watch Elf, though, when everyone is home. I can’t stand Will Ferrel, but I think he does a great job in THAT movie. My eye lashes are pathetic! I seldom bother with mascara these days for fear I’ll lose even more lashes when I wash the product off. That said, eye liner is my clutch makeup item, LOL. I never leave the house without it.
Deborah Brooks says
I am a sucker for the holiday movies even though we don’t even celebrate Christmas! I never thought I needed extensions until I saw them. They are fun but lots of upkeep needed. Not sure I will keep it up
Wendy says
There’s a Starbucks on my way to work and it causes major traffic issues with people trying to pull in to get in the drive-thru and then trying to pull back out. It’s pretty ridiculous and I keep thinking, with all the time they spend sitting in line, wouldn’t it just be easier to brew a cup at home? But hey, that’s just me…
I bet your eyelashes look great! Your eyelash story reminded me of the ridiculous extensions I’m seeing on the teens, lol! One of my patients had so many extensions that when she left the office, there were eyelashes all over the floor. It looked like centipedes had invaded.
Deborah Brooks says
I don’t even like Starbucks! The only reason I waited was bc I was in a hotel. LOL on the lashes. These definitely stay on for 3-4 weeks 🙂 Still, not sure if I will keep them up they require lots of work
Marcia Kadens says
I too am noticing people with eyelash extensions and I work with several people who go to get theirs done. Hey if you love them, go with it! Starbucks is always so busy at airports I rarely bother to wait in line. Ugh!
Deborah Brooks says
I never would have waited in the line but I was in a hotel with no other options at that hour. The lashes are fun for now!
Chocolaterunsjudy says
No Christmas movies yet, but Love Actually is always on the list.
I used to walk long distances between hotels to get breakfast goodies (obviously I don’t need coffee). A girl’s got to have her priorities!
Deborah Brooks says
Definitely agree!
Michelle says
30 mins. is an insane wait for coffee – there’s a Starbucks next to the lobby of my office building and the only way I’ll go there is if I pre-order on the app.
I just saw a promo the other day for Love Actually – it’s the 20th anniversary of the film. I’m not big on holiday movies, but that one is one of my favorites so I’m sure I’ll be watching it soon.
Deborah Brooks says
We don’t even celebrate Christmas, but I am a sucker for the movies sometimes. I don’t even like the taste of Starbucks so it was even more annoying!
Jenny says
Wow- you waited in line for 30 minutes for an expensive cup of coffee you don’t even like that much! Well… what are you going to do. At least they had festive cups!
So when you go in for a massage you’ll need something (like a rolled-up towel) to elevate your forehead when you’re face down so you don’t smoosh your eyelashes! That’s the solution we’ve come up with- I have several clients with eyelash extensions.
I’ve never seen Love Actually! But I want to, and I’m glad you reminded me.
Deborah Brooks says
OH! Good tip on the lashes I do have a massage today and I am sure my guy has no idea about lashes
Debbie says
That’s very cool about your eyelash extensions. I hadn’t even noticed in your pictures so they must look very natural. I have to get my eyelashes dyed every couple of months (eyebrows every 5 weeks) or they get so blond you can’t see them. Ugh, the things we have to do!
I watched one Hallmark Christmas movie while decorating our tree, but that’s it so far. I’ve not seen Falling for Christmas or Love Actually.
Have a great weekend!
Deborah Brooks says
the things we do indeed! The lashes are hard to see in the photos but very noticeable in person. I am thinking of the eyebrow tinting as well. Lots of upkeep needed as we age
Suzanne says
Hi! I am here from Jenny’s blog. The eyelash extensions sound kind of fun — not needing mascara sounds very appealing. And now I need to go see if I can find that Lindsay Lohan movie. It looks very cute.
Deborah Brooks says
welcome to our linkup! The eyelashes are so fun. They do require upkeep. the movie was cute but cheesy
Farrah says
I haven’t seen any Christmas movies yet but one of my favorite things to do around the holidays back in medical school was to watch Hallmark channel/Lifetime with my friend while surrounded by all her pets!
I’ve never tried eyelash extensions but was curious about an eyelash perm at one point — may try it one day (good to hear that you’ve had a good experience with the former! :).
Deborah Brooks says
I do tend to watch at least one of the cheesy holiday movies each year!
Coco says
LOL, you’ve got to have the Starbucks app and order ahead for situations like that. You can order head for some airport Starbucks too. At DCA I order when I arrive, and by the time I get through TSA and to the gate area, my coffee is ready. 😉
I barely remember to swipe on mascara, but I am sure your lashes look lovely.
Deborah Brooks says
this particular store did not have order ahead available bc they are too busy! Double annoying bc it wasn’t even good but I did get an impossible breakfast sandwich so that was good
Jenn says
How fun! I tried false eyelashes on my own for the first time, and that was fun. I’m also getting my brows shaped and tinted. Splurges can be so great.
Deborah Brooks says
They can be great but lots to keep up with!
Zenaida Arroyo says
OMG, I will also be annoyed waiting that long for coffee. That is a long time! I do like Starbucks coffee. 😀 I rarely watch Christmas movies because they are cheesy and I end up rolling my eyes, but Love Actually is a really good one.
Deborah Brooks says
They are cheesy for sure!
