Thanks for joining Kim and me for the weekly run down today. As we were headed to Dallas midweek, I could not resist the Deborah (Debbie) Does Dallas reference. Don’t worry, I don’t have any plans to venture into the X-Rated movie realm. Ha ha but I did have some fun in Dallas. Here is a peek into my week of fitness and fun.
Deborah Does Dallas
Monday- core + barre + stretch + 2 mile walk
I woke up with some pretty sore legs and hips from yesterday’s 10-mile run around the Capitol. If you missed my recap of the Washington DC Monument fun you can find it here. Running on concrete (sidewalks) was way less forgiving than running on my usual asphalt trail and I was feeling it.
Tuesday- 4 ish mile run + core + barre + stretch
We woke up to torrential rain this morning. We pushed our group run back 30 minutes and ran in some lighter rain. I have to say, I would much rather run in the rain than in the heat. You never know what race day will bring.
Wednesday Peloton core + barre + upper body + stretch + cycle
A little bit of everything today. I skipped the lower body strength as I am still feeling a little beaten up and I planned a longer run Thursday.
Thursday 8 mile run + stretch + fly to Dallas
Kudo to my run squad for literally running the extra mile with me today. I wanted to get in a longer run before heading to the airport to fly to Dallas for a 50th birthday party weekend. They are the best!
Friday- Hotel gym Peloton workout
Short workout today with core + barre + upper body strength. We went to a fun party at the Dallas Cowboys stadium so of course, I had to dress the part.
Saturday- mini ninja warrior competition
Who is this you ask? I kind of got roped into this as part of the birthday weekend celebrations. While I am not ready to give up my running shoes for obstacle course racing, I have a newfound respect for those who do. My main goal was not to get hurt so check √ and our team won first place.
Saturday night it was full on 80’s concert mode!
Sunday- fly home
It was another jam packed weekend over here! Day off from workouts.

Deborah Brooks says
I’m def lacking in the long run area this cycle
Kimberly Hatting says
I had to laugh at the Deborah Does Dallas title! Sounds like a fun little getaway & I hope you share more on the obstacle race…another fitness thing I’d like to try someday ( I actually did a run with some obstacles, at a military base, but it was more running-based).
Deborah Brooks says
This was a very mini obstacle course but way out of my comfort zone for sure. We will need a phone catch up soon
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
It sounds like you had a great time while in Dallas and congrats on your team winning the obstacle course racing event!

Your travel is beginning to make ME tired, LOL! Sounds like fun. Of course you didn’t mention the heat of Dallas and I know it is HOT there!
Good for you for trying something new — sounds like you had fun.
Deborah Brooks says
yes, we have been getting around lately! It is always fun to try something new
Jenny says
Well, you really know how to have fun! I love the outfit. That obstacle course race looks great! You had a nice variety of activities while you were there. Whose birthday was it?
Down here, we welcome rainy runs! It’s way better than the sweltering heat this time of year.
Deborah Brooks says
I also welcome rainy runs in the summertime. It is always fun to do new things but I am a creature of habit so will be happy to get back to it this week
Michelle says
Sounds like a fun weekend! Love the dress and boots combo. And, good on you for being game for the obstacle course.
Deborah Brooks says
It was fun to try but I will be sticking to running and Peloton! 🙂

Cari says
So many Dallas pop culture ties, so little time.
Those boots are fun. Love the look. As such an Eagles fan, what did your husband think of the location ? I actually love traveling to stadiums but haven’t been to theirs yet.
Rain runs forever, and running squads are the absolute best.
Deborah Brooks says
Oh my husband was not happy about it at all! He would not even walk onto the field
Liz Dexter says
My goodness, those boots are amazing! What a good weekend!
Deborah Brooks says
I thought they were so much fun! Not sure when I will wear them again 🙂
Michele Heller says
How fun. I love going to Dallas. Those boots are amazing. I have always wanted to try a Ninja Warrior course. I have played around with jumping from bar to bar when I take kiddo to the playground and it’s tough. Sounds like a great week.
Deborah Brooks says
It was fun to try something new but I think I will stick to running 🙂 and Peloton
Jenn says
This is certainly the year of travel for you! I am living so vicariously!
