Thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run down. I am just cruising through the last week of January. Here is a peek into my week of fitness and running. 🏃‍♀️

Weekly Run Down Cruising through January

Monday-core + barre + upper body strength + stretch

I have really been enjoying the Peloton split strength programs. After doing JJ’s for 3 weeks, I moved on to Robin’s 3-day program this week. Today was upper body push exercises focusing on the chest and triceps. Lots of pushups!

Weekly run down

Tuesday-5.5 mile run + stretch/mobility

Today’s run workout was warm up + 25 min easy pace + 10 minutes of striders. My legs felt tired for the first half but I was happy to see I hit my paces.

Weekly run down

Wednesday- core + mobility + upper body strength + stretch

Today was biceps and back strength day. I am continuing Robin’s advanced split strength program this week. It was another rainy and cold day here so it was nice to have a gym day today.

Cruising through January

Thursday-4.5 mile run +stretching/mobility

Today’s workout was a progression run that had us running 15 min at a marathon pace followed by 10 min a half marathon pace then a cool down. It was super windy out as you can see by my ponytail blowing backward but it stopped raining.

Cruising through January

Friday- core + barre + lower body strength + Peloton cycle

A full gym sesh today with some serious lower-body strength. I finished Robin’s advanced split strength program this week and enjoyed the challenge. I am continuing to use my Peloton cycle classes as recovery and low-level cardio. What does that mean? Since I am focusing on strength and running gains right now, I am going easy on the bike and using it as recovery.

I was super excited to be a guest on the “Clip Out” podcast today that focuses on all things Peloton. It will air sometime next week and I will share the link if you are interested. I had lots of fun doing it!

Saturday- Rest day

I had an infrared sauna session which was very relaxing and did my Peloton stretches.

Cruising through January

Sunday- On the plan 9 mile run + stretching

Starting to up that weekend mileage! Cruising through January!

Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. You had a solid week! As you know, I’m enjoying the Peloton split classes with JJ…sounds like Robin’s have a similar focus (chest/tri’s and back/biceps, etc.). I hope your long run goes well!

Yes I am really enjoying the split training and thinking of going back to JJ next week

I am jealous of all your sunshine! And your clear running paths. How fun to be interviewed for a podcast and I’m anxious to hear more about your infrared sauna experience. Have a great run today!

We have had zero snow this season but lots of rain. Can’t complain though bc it is super mild and yes, paths are clear.

Congrats on the podcast! And the infrared sauna sounds divine.

    I wouldn’t say you’re cruising — you crushed January!

the podcast sounds like fun!! and infrared sauna? I’m intrigued, I’ve never heard of that!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/29/2023 at 1:32 pm

The infrared sauna was really nice. It is not steamy and the heat is less hot if that makes sense

The podcast and sauna sounds very cool.

I’d say you are cruising into your next half.

Looks like a great week of activity! You know I am a huge infra-red sauna fan. That and our home gym are among the best investments we’ve ever made in this house!

      01/29/2023 at 1:33 pm

how often do you use yours?

  7. Coco says

I liked Robin’s split program, but I do wish they would keep in mind the repeating pattern when recording and keep the chit-chat minimal and motivational. Hearing the same stories every week grates on me. 😉

Good luck with your long run!

I can’t wait to hear you on the Clipout!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/29/2023 at 1:33 pm

That is a good point on the chit chat. I think maybe JJ had less of that

You’ve got a nice morning for your long run – have fun! I heard the Peloton split strength workouts were intense. Nice job!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/29/2023 at 1:34 pm

Yes, it was pretty mild and literally started pouring the second I finished. Good timing

What a lovely fit week! I’ve had a good week of running tho a weird one, as I did 7 miles with Claire on Thursday morning, helping her train for her half, then went and supported our 5k and beyonders class in the evening. I wasn’t as fatigued as last time I did this, I think because we ran after breakfast so even though the gap was shorter, that run was easier. Anyway I volunteered twice this weekend so didn’t run so it all evened out. AND I have finally caught up with my blog posts so can read all the running blogs again!

I don’t think I’ll be blogging about my running for the foreseeable as a) it’s very dull, b) I’ve just broken down again with high hamstring tendinopathy. I do love reading the blog posts though!

        • Deborah Brooks says

          02/04/2023 at 4:55 pm

oh no! I have had that before it is no fun at all

Great week, Deborah! The sausa session sounds awesome. I am usually not a sauna fan, but it’s been cold in CA and a hot sauna sounds really nice right now 🙂

It was nice for a change and something to do on a rest day. I get super antsy!

Ooooh, love that infrared sauna! How relaxing and what a great way to recover. It looks like you had a really solid and productive fitness week!

      thanks I guess I did!

How cool that you’ve been on a podcast!
That looks like a very good fitness week and I hope you had a good long run too. I hadn’t heard of infrared saunas before. I think I would prefer that to a standard sauna, I can’t tolerate them because of the steam, I think it’s hard to breathe with all the steam in normal saunas!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/30/2023 at 5:30 pm

I agree I can only last a few minutes in a traditional sauna but I was able to do 30 min the infrared

  15. Jessie says

    01/30/2023 at 12:25 pm

Those split classes sound interesting, I will have to take a look.

I like the sounds of the MP then HMP workout as a progression. Solid!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/30/2023 at 5:31 pm

The progression run was harder than I thought but I always feel so accomplished afterwards. I am really enjoying the split classes

The infrared sauna session sounds really relaxing! Definitely needed after your great week of workouts.

I really enjoyed it and it was relaxing

Great job on the training this week! Looks like you have some good running buds there. Nice! I’m debating if I want to join a group run this week for my long run. I need to get my week planned because it looks like it might be pretty cold out there and maybe I can pick a better day. Looking forward to hearing the podcast!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/30/2023 at 5:35 pm

I definitely am so lucky to have a running group. Long runs would be much harder for me without them!
