As runners, exercise enthusiasts and moms we can all certainly use a day at the spa for a little relaxation and recovery right? I was offered the chance to come into Celadon Spa in Washington, DC (1180 F ST NW) and try out their Hot Stone massage and Foot Reflexology. Yes Please!
From the second I stepped through the door, I felt instantly relaxed. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The waiting area was warm and inviting with hot cider and fruit infused waters. Pastries and yummy looking carrot cake were available as well. I was impressed with the wide array of products they carried. A large boutique offered familiar hair care products (Bumble & Bumble, Keratase), Nail supplies, jewelry and numerous gift items. One could certainly do lots of damage in there or get all of their holiday shopping done.
Now for the good stuff: The 75 minute Hot Stone massage “An amazing treatment incorporating massage with the use of smooth basalt desert stones. Warm stones are applied with oils to chakra points and tired muscles, unlocking natural healing energies and helping to rebalance the body.” (Celadon Spa)
This was my first Hot Stone Massage and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I usually get a deep tissue massage and while I find it helpful for my sore spots, I wouldn’t say that it is relaxing. The Hot Stone massage is different from the start. Warm stones were placed in the palms of my hands and soles of my feet while I was lying on a heated massage table. Warm massage oil was applied and larger stones were used to massage the entire body. This was heavenly and I really enjoyed the warmth of the stones accompanied by the massage on a chilly day. Very different from any massage I’ve had in the past.
Next, I experienced my first 1 hour Foot Reflexology treatment. This was a like a deep tissue massage for the feet and I enjoyed it much more than I expected. As a runner, my feet and ankles are tight and always have little spots that need more attention. My therapist hit all of my sore spots and really seemed to be educated in the art of reflexology. I’m intrigued by this whole technique so look for a more detailed explanation of Reflexology later this week.
Celadon Spa was relaxing escape for this mother runner and a great way to recover from long runs. Side note: I ran my fastest race in a while the day after I had these treatments. Coincidence? Who knows? I will certainly be back again in the future. If you live in the DC area, consider visiting Celadon for one of their great services mention that you saw the review here for 10% off. Holiday Gift cards would be great for any runner or mom for a day of recovery & relaxation. I received my services in exchange for a review however all opinions are my own.
What’s your favorite way to recover & relax? Ever had a Hot Stone Massage?
I’m double linking up today with Erika and April and Jill and Joy so make sure to check out all of the great posts in the links #DishtheFit #TuesdaysonTheRun
I relax by lying on the couch and eating a mars bar… But a day at the spa sounds great too.
Well they both have their strong points! have a great day 🙂
I love getting massages! I’ve never had a hot stone massage though, it sounds amazing. 🙂
Oh I highly rec it! Much more relaxing and enjoyable than I expected
That is ideal recovery! I’m home and have one more day off from work. I should have made an appointment to get a massage. Next time. Hot stone massages rock my world!

Yes me too! Every runner and mom needs them 🙂
Oh, my! I would have been in heaven! Hot stone massages are awesome but I would have died from happiness if I had the foot reflexology treatment!
I really liked the foot reflexology as well!
I have had a hot stone massage and it was very enjoyable. I never had a foot reflexology. That juust sounds amazing for my tired feet. I will have to look into that somewhere in my area.
You know it was kind of great for my feet and ankles too!
Oh, wow. I’m jealous. I have not had a hot stone massage. Like you, I’ve always opted for the more tortuous deep tissue…OUCH. I have experienced foot reflexology. Amazing. I love any massage or treatment for the feet. Oddly, some people can’t stand anyone touching their feet. NOT ME! Bring it on.
I didn’t think I was going to like the foot reflexology but I really did!
I relax and recharge by spending some time alone. I don’t have a specific pampering routine, but now I feel inspired to create one!
I think you need one@
I love a good massage and the hot stones sounds like a great addition. I’ve never tried the foot reflexology though. It sounds interesting!
It really was interesting and different. Fun for a change
Hot stone massages are my jam–i get so cold that they are the way to go for me. But then again, I’ll take any option 😀
It was great on a chilly day! I’m looking forward to the next one

Sounds luxurious! I haven’t had a massage in a LONG LONG time – might need to put one on my holiday wish list.
oh yea that should be on everyone’s holiday list-no such thing as too much
I had a hot stone massage on my legs once during my mani pedi for my wedding. i wasn’t a huge fan.. too hot! haha
Ha it wasn’t that hot but just hot enough to warm me up on a cool day. I was surprised by how much I liked it
I’ve never had a hot stone massage, I’ve always wanted to try one!
I would certainly rec one! It was so nice and warm 🙂
Wow that sounds heavenly!! I relax at night either reading some blogs while on the couch, or doing some mindless reading (aka looking at trashy magazines ha)
Well that’s always fun too! Thanks for stopping by!
Nice! I’ve never had a hot stone massage. Sounds so nice! The foot reflexology treatment sounds interesting too. I will have to try both at some point!

The hot stone massage sounds amazing, and the foot reflexology sounds intriguing!
Loved them both!
I had my first hot stone massage when on vacation in Jamaica this summer! It was amaaazing! I need to get another one soon!
You do for sure!!
Hot stone massages are my favorite! They really help to get the muscles warm and loose! Great review!
If you are looking for a spa day I highly recommend Celadon. I loved the hot stones 🙂
The Foot Reflexology sounds so interesting. I curious to know if you felt the benefits throughout your entire body.
You know I was trying to think about that and it was hard to tell bc I had the hot stone massage as well. It was totally relaxing though.
That sounded heavenly!!! Why wait for a race? I could use a great massage right now! Great review. The next time I am in the DC area I may have to add this to my “to-do” list!
Yes why wait indeed! Next time you are in DC call me and we can meet there!!
You are one lucky lady!!! That sounds wonderful! I love going for the spa pedicure after a long race- it feels heavenly! They do they hot stones on the legs but getting a hot stone massage all over sounds even better!!!!
Really it was just what I needed that day! (or any day really!)
I’ve had hot stone and foot massages, and would happily repeat both.
Oh yes me too! Sign me up 🙂
I had my first stone massage a year ago and it was amazing!!
They are great! You should check out Celadon if you are looking for a day spa or race recovery
I could sure use this!! Sounds wonderful!
It was the best!
Oh this looks like heaven! Perfect way to relax! 🙂
Absolutely! We all need a spa day every now and then
So fun!!! Getting a massage is one of my favorite way to treat myself. 🙂
For sure! We all need them every so often
Ohhhh yes please- a spa day is SO what I need right now
Meant to ask if they also had spa services at BL ranch?
I could really go for a spa day right now! Heck I will settle for just a message. This time of year I find it really hard to relax.
Things do get a little stressful this time of year don’t they?!
I LOVE a good massage! If only they weren’t so expensive! I am planning to get one this Sunday, a week before my marathon.
That’s a great idea! Good luck next week
This just reminds me I SO need a spa day!!! This sounded so relaxing.
We all do! Go for it 🙂
Sounds fabulous! You know I have never went for a spa day in my entire life… I know I am seriously deprived:)
oh you are! Maybe a gift card for the holidays to a spa day is what you need
GAHHH GIGI NEEDS A MASSAGEEEEE ASAP! But seriously, I need to calm down, relax and just forget about the world for 1/2 a second!!! HA HA HA! Yeah, not possible…. However I came PRETTY CLOSE during my last massage!!
That’s the best part of a massage isn’t it?
Day at the spa sounds like a dream come true right now. I need one of those.
WE all do! Go for it 🙂
Oh wow, that sounds wonderful! I’m not even a runner but who doesn’t want a foot massage!
oh you don’t have to be a runner to love a massage-go get one too!
I didn’t see the foot reflexology on their webpage. Do you know who I can contact about it? I’d love to try it since I’m having so many issues with my feet right now…
Weirdly it’s not on their website. I suspect if you call to make an appointment they can tell you all about it. It was really very enjoyable. Sorry your feet are bothering you
