Happy Friday five everyone! As you probably know, I am off running my Ragnar race today but couldn't pass up the opportunity to honor Mother's Day. You all know how much I love my MRTT mamas everyday but especially on this weekend. I crowdsourced with them and came up with a few fun answers as to why "Runners Make the Best Moms" I'm joining the fabulous DC Trifecta-Cynthia, Mar and Courtney for their Friday Five link up. 1. We always have snacks in our cars and bags and basically … [Read more...]
How To Pack For A Ragnar & How NOT To Train For One
Ok I admit it-I am a notorious over packer. I wrote a post last year all about my over packing tendencies. So in a quest to improve my skills I am trying it again. Tomorrow, I head up to Boston with my fabulous team to run the Ragnar Cape Cod. Packing for a relay is hard enough but packing for a out of town relay race is quite the challenge for this girl. Where to start? First I decided what I would be wearing for each of 3 runs. It's hard to predict the weather but I figured chillier at … [Read more...]

Happy May everyone! I love our Ultimate Coffee Date posts so much and reading all about what you are all up to is so fascinating. Please join me and my fabulous co hosts Coco and Lynda- Pull up a chair & let's catch up! If we were having coffee, I would tell you...I am embarrassed to admit that I balled my eyes out watching Grey's Anatomy. Oh Dr. McDreamy what will we do without you? First McSteamy now you! I was so over you, hadn't watched you at all this season and then you sucked me … [Read more...]
Are you Fearless? 261 With Skirt Sports
fearless [feer-lis] adjective without fear; bold or brave; intrepid. (source) This past weekend I participated in the Skirt Sports 261 Fearless Virtual Race in honor of Kathrine Switzer. If you are not familiar with the story, in 1967 Kathrine entered and ran the Boston Marathon when women were barred from doing so. The race director tried to push her off of the all male race course but she wouldn't budge. She finished the race with her bib number 261. Very fitting … [Read more...]
Women’s Health Action Hero 2015
So I have some exciting news...A few months back I was flipping through Women's Health Magazine and saw a contest "Enter to Win to become one of our 2015 Action Heroes". I thought, "Ok sure why not! Nothing to lose." Well fast forward a few months, I had totally forgotten I had applied, until I got the email telling me I'd been selected. What?! Really? What's an Action Hero anyway? WH Action Heroes are women who are active and passionate about fitness in the their communities, motivating … [Read more...]
Welcome Runs, BRF’s & Coffee
This past weekend we had our Moms Run This Town Spring Welcome Run. What's a Welcome Run? A chance to come out and meet "the group" in non threatening way. It certainly didn't feel too "springlike" this morning but that didn't stop us. After the winter we've had, ladies couldn't wait to get out again. Our chapter has been growing so quickly the past few months that it is impossible to know everyone by name or sight anymore. We've noticed that many ladies join our group and then don't come out … [Read more...]
5 Reasons To Try A Tri
This week's Friday Five link up is a "free" topic-oh the possibilities!! A few years back (2006) I did my first tri race. I loved it and I felt like a rock star afterwards. I continued to do them for a few years and then I just sort of got burnt out and stopped. It's been a few years now but I've decided to jump back into them. Here's why: 1. Everyone likes a challenge-Training for a tri race is a challenge. It's way harder than doing a plain old running event. Most likely you are already … [Read more...]
5 Races on My Bucket List
I was excited to see the topic for this week's Friday Five Linkup and tweaked it a little bit to be 5 Races on my Bucket list. Disney Princess Half How have I never done a Disney race? My kids have been there over 10 times and I've never run there. When they were younger I thought it was logistically challenging so I am going to need to get on that now they are teenagers. Bonus the medals are cute too! The Nation's Tri Ok so confession-I am terrified to swim in … [Read more...]
Are you Over Training?
We fitness enthusiasts are a unique bunch. We've found our passion and nothing can keep us from reaching our fitness goals-or can it? You many have noticed that this Mother Runner hasn't been doing much running lately due to plantar issues that won't really go away. What I have been doing is everything else I can possibly think of to keep up my fitness. I have been spinning, swimming, kick boxing, strength training and hot yoga. I've also noticed how exhausted I am the past few weeks. I … [Read more...]
5 Reasons Runners Make Better Lovers
I'm having a little fun with the Friday Five today with a "tongue & cheek" Valentine's Post. We all know how great running is for your physical and mental health so I am giving you a few more reasons running can improve your love life. 1. We like to get our Heart Rate up- Runners will use any excuse to get their Heart Rates up and often have our Heart Rate Monitors/Watches on all day long. It's probably super easy to convince us to get a little extra cardio & a healthy … [Read more...]
My Favorite Winter Jacket-The Gemini
With the very chilly winter we have been having, I realized that I've really come to rely on my Skirt Sports Gemini jacket quite a bit this year. I noticed that most of my pictures the last few months have me wearing one of my jackets. As you may know, I am a Skirt Sports Ambassador however, I was not asked to write this nor am I compensated in any way for my thoughts. Just sharing the love! So why do I love it so much? First of all, it's reversible! One side has a soft fleece … [Read more...]
