What happens when 150 Brooks Run Happy ambassadors meet up for a weekend of fun and fitness in Park City, Utah? A full weekend of all things #CampRunHappy. Brooks running generously invited all of their ambassadors to attend an all expenses paid weekend in Park City. You know I am in for that! Here’s a recap of our whirlwind weekend.

Camp Run Happy

Park City is not the easiest place to get to from the DC area but I was not going to miss this! I flew out early Friday morning and finally arrived in Park City at around 5 pm. I met up with the other Run Happy team members at the YotelPad. My roomie for the weekend was Wendy. She was very gracious and gave me the better bed and put up with high maintenance sleeping routine. Yes, I do travel with my white noise machine, sleeping mask, and ear plugs. Don’t you?!

Friday night

After meeting up with Wendy and chatting nonstop, we headed down to meet all the other happy campers. It was so cool to finally meet so many “IG friends” in person. I was especially excited to meet Natalie and Lauren both of whom I have been following for a while.

We were treated to live music with Stray Local, dinner with a food truck, and cocktails. Friday was a science-themed night to go along with the new “run on Nitro” campaign from Brooks. I did my best with the science look! We were both tired from the day of travel and the time change so headed off for an early sleep.

off to camp

Saturday morning

We were up bright and early to meet up for the group run. The cool mountain air was such a gift. This girl is not used to any altitude and I was huffing and puffing for dear life as we began to ascend the mountain to the trail. Wendy did her best to try to convert me to trail running, but no such luck. We decided to make our run mostly a hike and enjoy the gorgeous views.

After that workout, we treated ourselves to a great breakfast before showering and heading to the activities. Next up was an inspirational Q and A with Jeff Binney (a self-described husky ginger runner) on the Run Happy Team. He taught us all a fun tik tok dance which was a hoot to film. We are on the left side midway in.

We walked around the quaint ski town and hit up a few boutiques before heading back to get ready for dinner with the crew. This evening’s theme was retro ski night at a local Brewery. Everyone had a blast with the creative costumes and of course all of the beer choices.

Sunday morning

We woke up to another gorgeous cool morning (high 40’s!). The fresh mountain air was calling us. Some of the campers headed out for another run while Wendy and I opted for a power walk. We were all treated to another breakfast with coffee and mingling. So many photos and videos! You sure could tell we were a bunch of savvy social media runners.

Before we knew it, the weekend was coming to a close and we were ready to head back to the airport. We piled on a few shuttle buses and were off. It was a whirlwind, activity packed weekend of fun and new friends.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. Just reading this makes me want to go back and do it again. Truly, my only complaint is that the trip was too short! Ok, the altitude was an issue, lol. Thank you for joining me on this journey and being such a great traveling companion. We would have gone hungry otherwise…lol

It was too short! No one ever goes hungry on my watch 🙂

What a fun whirlwind adventure! I bet you really liked those cooler temps (you know me, I would have been shivering, LOL). Looks like you scored a new coffee cup (among other fab loot) from the swag pic. Glad you had a fun time 😉

I don’t think you can judge trail running by running at altitude! That is no joke. But a hike is always worthwhile! We did lots of hiking when we were in UT (also Park City for the race) a few years back & we had a great time.

Glad you guys had such a fun weekend!

The altitude was crazy! But it sure was a beautiful place to visit

Wow, those temperatures combined with the scenery sound like heaven. Except for the altitude- I know how hard that is. I was visiting my aunt and uncle in Denver several years ago and was huffing and puffing while going for a walk! Anyway, the whole weekend sounds amazing. Glad you guys had so much fun!
