Bodies In Motion Weekly Run Down

Thanks for joining me and Kim for the weekly run down. The first half of the week we really struggled with serious heat and humidity which kept me from getting in some planned runs. No fear, I found other ways to keep busy. Bodies in motion was my intention. Let’s see how it went!

Bodies In Motion Weekly Run Down

Sunday-4 mile run Power walk + lap swimming and stretch

Well, I had hoped to get back to running today but Mother Nature was mot cooperating With temps in the triple digits, my run was switched to a power walk. It’s ok, I will be back when I feel it’s safe (and enjoyable) to do so.Lap swimming was my reward to cool off.

Bodies in motion

Monday- Peloton hike + upper body strength + core + pilates + 2 m iced tea walk

I started off this toasty Monday (we are around 100 again) with a 2 mile walk with a friend to grab some iced tea. It was already 90 when we finished! I started Andy’s new density program on Peloton last week. Today was day 2 upper body and core. My arms were toast!

Weekly run down

Tuesday- 1 hour pool running class + lap swimming and stretch

Our actual temps were 103 today so I opted to do a pool Fluid running class with a friend. Pool running is so under rated! It is a tough workout. Later, I had another play date with a friend who came over to swim laps. Perfect way to deal with the heat and keep our bodies in motion.

Bodies in motion

Wednesday-Peloton tread hike + core + upper body strength

This was a tough strength workout on a very hot day. Always feels good to get it done.

Thursday – 3 mile run (finally!) + core + barre + stretch

Last night’s storm brought us some slightly cooler weather and I was ready for it. We finally got a run in after 2 weeks!

Weekly run down

Friday- 3 mile walk + weighted core + Pilates

It was a little cooler this morning so I took my walk outside. I am newly excited about some of the recent Peloton Pilates classes that are using the small ball. These are core type classes that are quite challenging and 10-15 min.

Saturday-Peloton tread hike bootcamp + hip mobility + lap swimming

I tried a hiking bootcamp today and loved it! While Saturday is usually a day off for me, I wanted to feel back on track after all of our recent travel. This was fun and challenging with intervals of hiking on the tread and strength. Later, I jumped in for a few laps in the pool.

I guess I was not in photo taking mood the past few days! However, I did accomplish my theme of the week: Bodies in Motion. Happy Sunday!

It was a hot one for sure this past week! Swimming laps on those terribly hot days sounds like a great way to stay cool. It looks like this week won’t be quite as hot.

It was quite the struggle but yes, the pool was a perfect retreat

This has been such a hot summer! You’re lucky you have a pool–I’m glad to see you enjoying those Fluid Running workouts. We’ve enjoyed some cooler weather the last couple of days as well. It sure makes a difference!

The pool has been a real luxury this summer. It is always good to mix things up.

I get in. My body was barely in motion. I hope it is cooler this week.

You looked pretty busy on your run down! Hope it is cooler for all of us this week

I need to checkout Andy’s density program (totally forgot about it #FacePalm). I’d seen all the new Pilates classes, I may give those a try as well!

I really liked the challenge of the density classes but I struggled with the 10 AMRAP and wanted more structure there. Ah the struggle to find the perfect workouts! I may just keep mixing things up. Rebecca’s new 3 day comes out for next week

This defintely has been pool weather! Or for me, basement gym weather. 😉
I love Andy but don’t have the patience for his Density programs. I need my workouts to be fun.

I really like the challenge of his new workouits but I struggled with the 10 min AMRAP. I need more structure to keep at it. I was pretty sore from the classes so they did something!May tough it out until Rebeccas next week

I runfess that all of my runs last week were on the treadmill. I just don’t feel like suffering in the heat. Glad you are taking full advantage of your pool! So wonderful when the mercury soars.

I just cannot and really do not want to run in this heat! Feeling lucky to have the pool option for sure

  7. Jenny says

Yes, we have to keep moving! I’m glad to see others are joining me for pool running (although I don’t think I’m enjoying it as much as you guys- it is a good workout though.) I like the sound of the “iced tea walk!”

I have the guided pool running classes to listen to which are fantastic. I would not like it as much without them

  8. Susanne says

Well done keeping the body in motion despite the hot weather. So good for you to have different options!
Hope you continue getting some running-appropriate weather.

it is nice to have lots of options!

That’s very hot: well done for getting stuff done. I prioritised sleeping over getting out for a short run today (I’m still rehabbing my knee).

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/21/2024 at 5:22 pm

that sounds like a smart idea to me!

Wow, you have had some hot temps! Way to still get in some workouts and pool time. I love the green swimsuit!

It really has been way too hot for me for running outside. This week ahead looks better!

What perfect pool opportunities this past week. Somehow I didn’t get any pool running done! I wasn’t feeling motivated to do it.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/22/2024 at 8:18 am

I am more motivated some weeks and the heat just lent itself to it this past week. We have a rainy one ahead so probably not as much pool time

  12. San says

I am really glad you have pool to use during this heat wave!

me too! It’s been the best

  13. Cari says

Water yourself. So true! No better way to spend time than with friends in the pool. Can enjoy it while not melting. I’ve done some pool running and holy resistance! So good to catch up

    • Deborah Brooks says

      07/22/2024 at 11:51 am

always great to catchup! Stay cool 😎

  14. Jenn says

    07/23/2024 at 3:54 pm

It has been a time with this heat, for sure. I am glad you are able to make use of a pool, because that seems like the only realistic way to run.

It has been super challenging for sure!
