Thanks for joining Kim and me for the Weekly Run Down today. I am happy to report that I am feeling a lot better this week. Thanks for all the good vibes you sent they must have helped. I am back at it this week with a little caution.
Back At It
Monday- upper & lower body strength + core + stretch + Peloton Cycle
I woke up feeling so much better today! I am hoping the week off did the trick. Well the week off and the Prolo and the stretching and the PT-LOL. I was back at it with my usual Monday routine. I used slightly lower weights to make sure I did not tweak anything.
Tuesday- 3.5 mile run + stretch + barre
Yay! I ran today! I kept it super slow and steady and relatively short. So far so good.I did all of my warmup and post-run stretches. Fingers crossed the pain is gone.
Wednesday- core + upper & lower Peloton strength + barre + stretch
I was happy to be back to my regular Wednesday workout schedule today with a nice peloton stack. I kept the lower body weights a little lighter than normal.
Thursday- 4 mile run + stretch + hip opening yoga + afternoon walk
I kept it slow and threw in a few walk breaks. Returning to running is going well. I still have that original pain in my butt however it is much less. I don’t feel that other pain that I had last week. It was such a gorgeous day out there and was so thankful to be outside running. I got to wear some of those cute running vests I posted about last week.
Friday- lower & upper body strength + core + PT
I am feeling so much better! I jumped back into lower body strength and upped the weights back a touch. I also had another session with my PT who did some more dry needling and some manual active release. I am keeping at the exercises to target that pain in my ass.
This afternoon, I was a guest on a panel at Georgetown University on health and wellness influencers. I was so nervous but it turned out great. I would not have been a real “influencer” if I did not get the students to do a group selfie at the end.
Saturday- 2.5 mile walk and Peloton Yoga
Easy walk otherwise rest day.
Sunday- On the plan: 5 run
I am happy to be back at it this week. Feeling so much better. My glutes and hips are down to manageable annoyance for now.
Thanks for joining us today!

I am SO GLAD you’re feeling so much better! My PIA is at the manageably annoying stage, too. I am considering a week-long running sabbatical to really nip it in the bud…we’ll see. Stay strong 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
It is annoying but also manageable. I did take a 9 day sabbatical which helped the other part. It can’t hurt to take a week off
Melissa says
wow, great to hear you’re feeling better!! you put in some hard work last week even without running- sounds like it paid off!
Deborah Brooks says
I do feel so much better this week but still have some of that piraformis pressure off and on. Super annoying
Marcia says
Oooh I’m so glad everything has calmed down after you threw all the treatments at it. How fun to be on an influener panel! I’ve noticed that even 10 yr olds know what influencers are these days. It’s crazy!
Deborah Brooks says
It is crazy! They had a bunch of great questions and turned out to be fun
Darlene says
So happy to hear you are feeling better. And resting helped.
Did you sign up for NYC?
Congrats on the panel. I bet you were great.
Deborah Brooks says
yes I am thankful! Yes, I did sign up 5 months will fly by
Coco says
I am SO glad you are feeling better! I hope your glute pain goes away soon too.
The Georgetown event sounds great!
Deborah Brooks says
It is still there but much more manageable. Georgetown was fun
Wendy says
I’m glad to see you are feeling so much better. How cool that you were on that panel. We can say we knew you when… :p
Deborah Brooks says
ha ha yes, there’s that!
Jenny says
Yay! This is all good news. Yes, I remember the olden days of running (in my youth) where if something hurt, you just rested a little and it went away. Not anymore! Now we go to PT and get shots and dry needling and stretch and strengthen…whatever it takes to get back to running asap.
What a cool event at Georgetown. You obviously put a lot of time and effort into your blog and social media, and it pays off. I like the selfie- looks like a nice group of people!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, gone are the days where we can just rest a day and feel better. My Dr calls us “seasoned”. Thanks yes, I was flattered to be asked to speak on the panel and it was lots of fun
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
Ah, that’s great news that your pain is going away. It sounds like your rest and rehab work paid off. Congrats on being on the Georgetown health and fitness influencer panel – sounds fun and scary.
Deborah Brooks says
It was fun and scary but glad I did it. I am feeling better and the pain is down to a manageable pain
Chocolaterunsjudy says
That’s great that you are feeling better! Congrats on being an influencer. I can definitely see you nailing that. 🙂
Onwards & upwards!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, it was fun to do. I love being on college campuses too. Such great energy
Cari says
How awesome on the Georgetown event.
And yay on the pain improvement. Life is better without literal or other pains in the ass.
I know they’re running and not indor/weights shoes, but your Monday pic is calling for our twin “spin art” Ghosties
Deborah Brooks says
I do love those ghosts! Lately, I am back to wearing my Glycerins more. Do you switch around? Yes, life is better without any type of pain in the ass 🙂
Cari says
The Glycerins don’t work for me for longer runs, so I’m mostly in Ghosts. Plus um I might have five times the pairs o:)
Spin Art, pink confetti, reflective/pink and yellow ( both nearly out of miles), purple animal print. Not a problem if we’re happy with it, right?
Deborah Brooks says
absolutely!
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Yay on feeling better! I think it definitely was the result of all of the things! I have been diligent on my PT exercises this past week, but my sore hand today will keep me from it today (because I’m being lazy mostly!!).
Congrats on the influencer event!
Deborah Brooks says
I am pretty diligent about the exercises as well and it’s hard to know exactly what is helping. I am going to keep at and try to knock this thing out for good
Kim G says
How exciting that you were a guest panelist for the event at Georgetown – that is so cool!
So glad that you were feeling better this week 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
It was fun to do something different like the panel. I love being on a college campus it’s energizing
Liz Dexter says
So glad you’re feeling so much better and able to get out there again. My back is feeling OK now and I’m going to try some light jeffing this week, though I was laid out by my Covid booster on Saturday!
Deborah Brooks says
OH no sounds like it is one thing after another! I hope you are feeling well enough to get out there again this week!
Jenn says
I am so, so glad you are feeling better. Even if it’s not 100%, marked improvement makes everything so much more manageable.
It looks like you had some beautiful days up there. Love that!
Deborah Brooks says
yes, ut really does thanks!
