August 2025 Ultimate Coffee Date

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

Have you also wondered why the “seedless” watermelon actually has seeds in it? It does not have the black seed but it does still have the white seeds. So, it’s really not seedless is it? Nonetheless, summer watermelon sure is delicious! I would ask you if you like yours plain or with some feta and balsamic? Both for me.

August coffee date

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

I’ve been fortunate enough to be out of town most of July this summer. July always feels so much warmer than August and this year it’s been rough. Between the crazy thunder storms and ridiculous heat and humidity, I am so over it. Many of my daily walks have taken place on the treadmill instead of outside.

I would also tell you that I used to consider myself a real warrior in extreme heat. For years, I did October half marathons for many years which required me to do long, hot summer runs. Admittedly, I have no tolerance for running in the heat anymore and no interest in doing so. You will never hear me complain about the cold though!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…

I am really not a believer of palm readers or psychics, but I did somehow find myself getting a tarot card reading at an arts festival while out in Aspen last week. Admittedly, she had some pretty accurate insights into the personalities of my kids and certain things they were both navigating in their lives.

Most of the “insight” she provided me was based on the cards that I picked from the deck. I did not ask her any questions that I really didn’t want the answers to, but a few things she alluded to were pretty spot on. My tarot card reading was most likely a one and done experience but no regrets.

If we were having coffee, what would you tell me this August 2025?

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

I love watermelon, but usually keep it plain because it has so much natural sweetness. The Tarot reading is interesting! I’ve never explored that …

it was a first for me as well!

I guess if there were zero seeds how would you grow more? I assume they breezed them for smaller seeds?

I am so ready for a break in the weather!

I am so ready for a break in the weather too!

I do love watermelon, but not a fan of those little white seeds! I’d love a truly seedless version.

Very cool about the tarot reading. I had a friend once read my cards and she very accurately predicted I’d meet the man that I’d marry–described Mike to a ‘T”!

      08/01/2025 at 8:45 am

ha that is so interesting and kind of freaky!

That’s interesting about the tarot card reading accuracy. I’ve never done anything like that. Hopefully, when the rain moves out this morning we’ll have weather much more to your liking!

It was a first for me as well. The weather looks much better the next few days

I’ve had a couple of “psychic readings” in my life and I will say one of them accurately predicted the “season of conception” as she put it, for both of my girls. I’ll take watermelon any way I can get it. I worried my flowers would die from no water while we were on vacay but we had SO much rain, they did just fine!

We had so many storms when we were away that the neighborhood boy I asked to water my plants only had to come one time

I hear you- I used to be a summer running warrior but now I just hate the heat. I’ve been doing more and more of it (as opposed to the treadmill) but every step feels like a slog. i can’t wait till it cools down- too bad I live in Florida. Eye roll.
That’s interesting about the Tarot card reading! My daughter has an interest in that. I would probably do a reading once for the experience, but like you, I think I would be one and done.

      08/01/2025 at 8:47 am

It was fun to do a reading once but don’t see me doing it again. I’ve come to really just dislike heat every year

  7. Michelle says

The heat and humidity have been horrible and I’m just so over all of it. We had one of the hottest July’s on record – I’m hoping August will be kinder!

Interesting about the reading. I’ve never had one – taking life’s mysteries as they come 😉

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/01/2025 at 8:47 am

August is usually better I think? We can only hope

  8. Catrina says

    08/01/2025 at 9:04 am

I’ve wondered the same thing about seedless grapes—how do they even work?
And as for tarot readers… I can’t help but think some of them are just really skilled at reading people and telling them exactly what they want (or need) to hear! 😅

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/01/2025 at 4:25 pm

oh yes I am sure that the tarot reader was just a coincidence

Did you know that the white watermelon seeds are packed with protein? I just got some watermelon milk to try.

I was lucky enough to get out of town twice in July, too!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/01/2025 at 4:26 pm

I did know that the seeds had protein but you have to eat a huge amount of them!

I used to tolerate the heat more. This summer has put me over the edge.

So far today is beautiful. Of course it’s a rest day.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/01/2025 at 4:26 pm

this summer also has knocked out any interest in running for me

I used to hate watermelon! but then when I was pregnant with my third it was a hot summer and I started L
loving watermelon. I enjoy it now, but really buy it because I don’t like cutting it up. but if it’s at a party I will definitely have a slice!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/02/2025 at 8:21 am

agreed it is annoying to cut

I love tajin on my watermelon. And on my cucumber. It’s so good.

I’ve had my cards read a few times. It’s always interesting how they interpret things.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/02/2025 at 8:21 am

      Tajin is a yummy spice!

  13. Zenaida Arroyo says

July was horrible here too with the heat. I love watermelon with tajin. I like all of my fruit with tajin.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/02/2025 at 5:58 pm

      yes it’s so good!

  14. Farrah says

    08/08/2025 at 2:54 am

haha, I always wondered that about the seedless watermelons too.

I’m not much for palm reading/psychics either but the concept has always been interesting to me! My friend and I found someone doing face readings for $5 and did it for fun a couple years back and she had pretty accurate insights on both our lives!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      08/08/2025 at 3:59 pm

I’ve never seen a face reading! Fun to expolore these things sometimes!
