Hello August! Let’s catchup over a cup of coffee ☕️. Grab you mugs and join us to chat about whatever is on your mind. So many of the best chats happen over cups over coffee (and maybe wine 🍷).
August 2023 Ultimate Coffee Date
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
I might already miss Italy and all things Italian. First, the coffee. It’s just so much better. I mostly ordered an Americano which is espresso and water. Since I like a little milk in my coffee, what arrived was full fat cream. Let me just tell you, there is nothing better than full fat cream in coffee! I savored every cup and I miss it already.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
Speaking of creamy goodness, I enjoyed Caprese Salads almost everyday. The mozzarella was just life changing honestly, so creamy and delicious. The tomatoes tasted like they were just picked. So simple with just a little olive oil and this girl was in heaven.

more about the food! The pasta is so fresh and light. Italians traditionally do not twirl their pasta with a spoon the way we do here in the U.S. Portions are so much smaller (thankfully) and have less sauce. In addition, adding Parmesan cheese on top is not really a custom. Did I mention, I ate pasta almost everyday so I now consider myself an expert. LOL
As you can probably tell, I really enjoyed eating all the foods for 3 weeks. In fact, I think I will do a whole post next Friday with all of my favorite foods and restaurants. Stay tuned!
Yep, I am pretty sure eating in an “Italian” restaurant here in The US is not going to cut it any longer! I will just have to go back soon.
Well, I’ve been chatting away, it’s your turn. If we were having coffee, what would you tell me?
Mmmm! Thanks for sharing. I loved your posts while you were away. Agree on the coffee and food. At least you learned to make pasta the correct way!
Yes, I might have to start making my own!
I could not agree more about authentic Italian food. SO delicious and nothing like the American version. When I was last in Rome, which was I believe 2015?? there was not yet a Starbucks and the Italians were adamant about not having the brand in their country. I believe that has changed, but still. True Italian coffee is so darn good!
So I saw one Starbucks at the train station. I would never pick it over any Italian coffee!
It all looks so delicious! Interesting on the cream. My least favorite part of ging to Europe is only having milk for my coffee — maybe I can find cream instead.
The cream was so delicious! I had no idea what I’ve been missing
I have heard about how great Italian food (in Italy, LOL!) is! Some day I must get there.
Well, you did take that cooking class while you were there . .
I sure hope you do make it there sometime soon!
Well I love Italian food! I’d be enjoying all the authentic cuisine as well 🙂 Not sure about the coffee, LOL
I am having serious withdrawal from all of it!
I am drooling!!
Coffee in Europe is so much better or maybe all food!
I think I need a trip to Italy.
all food for sure! I am having withdrawl
I think you can definitely consider yourself a pasta expert now! Maybe you can recreate some of those dishes at home?
Funny that we had similar titles for our posts- mine is “Texas Style” but strangely Waco isn’t really known for its cuisine. I won’t be writing any posts lovingly describing me meals here!
Ha ha I guess Waco is not a culinary destination 🙂
Now I’m hungry! I’m glad you had a great time in Italy, I haven’t been there yet but I always hear that the food is amazing!
It is nice to have you back to the coffee date! Yes, the food in Italy was amazing, the scenery gorgeous and the people very friendly
Italian cuisine is just delightful all around. I’ve stopped using a spoon and eat pasta like the Italians now 🙂
that;s the way to do it!
I was in Italy years ago for about a day or two. I know I ate but unfortunately cannot remember too much about the food. Shocking! I know it was good because some of my reminds keep reminding me about a great pasta lunch we had while there.
Nothing better than real Italian food!
The food in Italy is so fresh and delicious! I look forward to reading your recap on Friday.
I am already missing it!
All of that food looks delicious! Now I’m hungry:)
I missed the link-up cutoff this time but still wanted to join in: https://www.livingonthesunnyside.com/chat-over-coffee-august-2023/
the food was amazing!
so really you’re Gabriel Allon and having wine with your coffee? I chuckled at that.
Yes please on the favorites, although I was taking notes when we spoke and from your stories.
Yes on the portions — when it’s so well made we don’t need filler
Maybe I will start drinking coffee and wine together! Why not 🙂
Ahh, Caprese salads…it’s been a while since I’ve had one of those but I love em’! So, so good. I’d love to go there to eat everything sometime!!
Hope you have the chance to get there!
