Wow did August just fly right by? You know what that means? It s time for some August confessions and runfesstions. I’ve got lots to share today so let’s get right to it, shall we? Thanks to Marcia for hosting.
August Confessions and Runfessions
I confess…
Undoubtedly, I totally overacted last week! I had upped my weights for a Peloton class and was appropriately sore the next few days. The spot of my soreness was my left pectoral area and it extended to my shoulder and upper arm. After it did not go away for a few days, I convinced myself that maybe I had some sort of cardiac issue. I, of course, had no reason to actually believe this to be the case. I even got a consult from nurse Wendy who tried to reassure me.
Coincidentally, I had a well visit scheduled with my primary care doctor that week. I marched in there telling him all of this and insisted that he do an EKG. He also tried to reassure me and we even looked at my Garmin app together to analyze all of the heart rate info. I know he thought I was completely insane! He even had me listen to my own heartbeat with his stethoscope. Yes, he did indulge me with an EKG. Apparently, I have the heart of a runner.
While I did feel a little silly after my visit, we know our own bodies best. There is no shame in checking something out if it doesn’t feel right. I am glad that I did it.
I confess and runfess…
As I have mentioned a few times, I wish there was a pillow concierge who could swoop in and find me the perfect pillow. While I still have not found this person, I did recently stumble across a custom-made pillow company. They ask you a bunch of questions about your sleep style and pillow use and then supposedly design the perfect pillow for you. I have mine on order stay tuned to see how it goes!
I spilled a lot today on this August 2022 confessions and runfessions post. I hope I still have something left to share next week for the Ultimate Coffee Date!
Marcia says
Yes, it’s always better safe than sorry with chest pains. Glad you got it checked out. I have a sleep number pillow and I love it!
Deborah Brooks says
yes, always good to get things checked out. There is a 100 day guarantee on the pillow so I figured I had nothing to lose
Wendy says
Anxious to hear about this magical pillow! i have to admit that the pillows in the Yotel Pad were pretty comfy. And I’m picky, lol
Deborah Brooks says
you will be the first to know! 🙂
Jenny says
In next week’s coffee date you can tell us how the pillow is working out (assuming you have it by then.) I think you’ve found the closest thing possible to a “pillow concierge.”
Yes, I’ve had those weird chest pains and am always convinced I’m about to have a heart attack. Better to be overly concerned than not concerned enough. Glad everything is okay!
Deborah Brooks says
You can’t be too careful with those kinds of things right? I did feel a little silly admittedly. I am hoping I get the pillow soon. You will be the first to know!
Terah Ramaekers says
Keep me posted on the pillow! I found Sutera with a Blissy pillow case to be my best combo yet, but I’m always eager to have the best pillow situation I can.
Glad the heart issue turned out to be nothing but a healthy heart too!
Deborah Brooks says
I also have a Sutera one I liked for a long time and now not so much. It is an on going struggle for a good night’s sleep!
Judy Litt says
Yes, you do know your body best — but glad there isn’t any cardiac issues!
I actually really like my pillow. It’s Enerplex (I think that’s it) and I bought it on Amazon. I like that you can customize the stuffing — and it comes with extra stuffing (which I haven’t had to do yet). It’s the first pillow that hasn’t gone totally flat after a year!
Deborah Brooks says
The struggle to find a good pillow and have a good night’s sleep is real
Kimberly Hatting says
That’s interesting on the customized pillow! I’m really interested to hear how you like it. I sleep with a lot of pillows (like, four LOL), so I might be a good candidate for a more prefect one 😉
Deborah Brooks says
I also sleep with a lot of different sized pillows. I have not received it yet but will let you know how it goes
Jenn says
I have this amazing pillow. I got it with my DreamCloud mattress and it’s magical. It’s a cooling pillow and it’s kind of dense and perfect for back and side sleeping. I have no idea the brand or I would tell you. I hope your custom is just what you need.
Deborah Brooks says
ooh that sounds perfect too!
Zenaida Arroyo says
Definitely keep us posted on the pillow. Mine are very flat and sometimes I wake up with a sore neck. I also have yet to find the perfect pillows for me.
Deborah Brooks says
It is not an easy task!
Michelle says
No harm in being overly cautious – glad to hear there was nothing there.
I’ve been on a never-ending quest for the perfect pillow so I can’t wait to hear about your custom pillow.
Deborah Brooks says
Agreed and yes, I am excited to receive it
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
I’m glad everything was okay with your EKG. It’s always good to have it checked out for peace of mind. I had something similar happen several years ago when I got a chest X-ray due to having pneumonia. My doctor called me to say that I had an enlarged heart and her office had made me an appointment with a cardiologist for later that day. She was sure that I had a dangerous virus that causes the heart to enlarge. I tried to explain that I was a runner, but she said she had many other runner patients and had never seen that before. I saw the cardiologist that afternoon and it turns out, I have the strong muscular heart of a runner. 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
It is good to get it checked out.Sometimes we know our own bodies best
