April Ultimate Coffee Date

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…I love the new spring Starbucks cups. Now if mother nature could just cooperate with us and let us have actual spring it would be great. This back and forth in temps is so frustrating.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you...My Girls on The Run team is off to a great start. While I oversee the whole program at the school, I work with the 6th graders each week. I love this age! My team of girls is very motivated and they have set some fun goals for the season. Our program is 10 weeks long and we are working towards our 5K at the end of May.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…I ran on the treadmill yesterday and did not hate it. I woke up to another morning storm and torrential rain so I pretty much had no choice. I popped in my headphones and before I knew I had finished my speed workout. Now if I could just get all of my friends could just run right next to me and chit chat it would be perfect.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…Remember that group bike that I got the nerve up to join last week? I am going back to do it again today. Sounds like I may get some of my MRTT friends to join in this time. The past few weeks I’ve realized that “I can do hard things” I just have to give myself the chance. Easier said than done of course but something I am going to keep working on.

If we were having coffee, what would you tell me? What have you realized that you can do lately?

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

I am so ready for real spring weather! I so hope Mother Nature doesn’t throw the hot and humid stuff at us right away!

Your girls are so lucky to have you as their coach!

    Thanks for the linkup!

Run well in humidity, apparently! Too bad I’m back to winter & dry cold. Spring is not making an appearance here anytime soon.

You got your girls planking! How cute!

Those Starbucks cups are definitely cute. I agree, the weather fluctuations are frustrating. Just when I packed off my winter gear, we have a storm. Oh well! Kudos on enjoying your treadmill run. That deserves a special award of its own! As always, thanks for hosting the coffee date link-ups. It’s so much fun to join and check out what everyone is up to.

I guess I need to check out these Starbuck cups- I think I am behind! You can do hard things- it is impressive! Moving out of my 5K comfort zone was tough but fun!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      04/01/2017 at 7:02 am

It is hard to move out of your comfort zone but it feels so good when you do

  7. Marcia says

    04/01/2017 at 7:12 am

You can totally do hard things! I need to follow your lead and ride with a group outside already. I’ve never done it!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      04/01/2017 at 3:11 pm

honestly I am so glad that I did. Just a few rides in and I am already feeling so much stronger. It has made a huge difference. Or you can take a road trip here and we can ride together 🙂

I am not sure there is a bike group in my area but I did commit to riding bike everyday in April! We are in another season of GOTR and my team went from 9 to 16! Learning all the names has been a fun challenge.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      04/01/2017 at 3:13 pm

Wow riding everyday is a great challenge! Hope the weather cooperates with you. Isn’t it great when the GOTR group grows? It is hard to learn all of their names isn’t it? Have fun with it

  9. HoHo Runs says

    04/01/2017 at 7:32 am

I haven’t seen the new Starbucks cup! I’ll definitely go check that out. It would be fun to run on the treadmill if we could have our running buddies besides us. I’m glad you are enjoying your group ride. Thanks for the linkup!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      04/01/2017 at 3:21 pm

It would be fun if they could be there!

  10. Coco says

    • Deborah Brooks says

      04/01/2017 at 3:26 pm

Yes they are loving the season so far. I was telling the other MRTT ladies I was going to try to get you to come out for a ride

  11. Darlene says

    04/01/2017 at 7:51 am

Still feels like winter here 🙁

I may skip GOTR this year. Did not have a good experience as a running buddy the past 2 years. GL with your biking. I should drag mine up from the basement.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      04/01/2017 at 3:28 pm

OH too bad you did not have a great experience as a running buddy. I love the biking as a great cross training. thanks for joining us for coffee today

  12. Kimberly Hatting says

    04/01/2017 at 8:27 am

You are so inspiring with your biking (and swimming and running and coaching, etc.). I need to look into starting a GOTR program here….That would be a “hard” thing for me…starting something like that from scratch LOL

    • Deborah Brooks says

      04/01/2017 at 3:33 pm

Oh I think you would be a fabulous coach! They have a whole program that all the chapters use so you just have to implement it. Let me know if you ever want to chat about it

  13. Tamieka says

    04/01/2017 at 8:54 am

I mean come on Spring….those Starbucks cups are to cute!!

Glad GOTR is going well. Ooh 6th grade….I can’t deal after 10 yr olds…Lol.

I am so reluctant to join a ride group…..maybe once the weather warms up.

Been training for my TriAthlon in AprIL and running around with the kiddies.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      04/01/2017 at 3:34 pm

Thanks for giving me an excuse to visit Starbucks! I have not seen their new cups yet. 🙂 My 3rd grader is in GOTR this year and loving it! Our oldest participated for 2 years as well and loved it. It is a good program and fun for the girls! Plus, it’s fun for mom to get to be a “run buddy” in the 5k!

    • Deborah Brooks says

I do love those Starbucks cups too! The color is just fabulous. I’ve realized lately that I can do hard as hell HIIT classes without dying. Yep, we can do hard things …even in our more “mature” years! 🙂

    • Deborah Brooks says

      04/01/2017 at 8:05 pm

      We definitely can!

I love how active you are between the running, cycling and Girls on the Run! And, I think the new Starbucks cups are so cute! Spring is great, if you can get it. 🙂

Here in Central FL, we don’t exactly get Spring, it’s already getting warmer. Wasn’t horrid today for my 14-miler, but I know the humidity crud is right around the corner!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      04/01/2017 at 8:07 pm

While I am looking forward to spring and summer, we get crazy humidity here too

  19. Marsha says

    04/01/2017 at 6:05 pm

We have a local running club and a local cycling club. It’s so fun to run and bike with other people!
