The end of April really snuck up on me this week! This Fit Friday is all about baring our sweaty soles in a Runfessions post. A place to spill all that is on our minds concerning running, cycling, swimming and gym going. Let’s get right to those April Runfessions I’ve got a few to share.
April Runfessions I’ve got a few
I Runfess…I really thought that spring might have bypassed us all together this month. Just when I was about to give up, we were rewarded with some beautiful spring running and cycling days. Definitely worth savoring before our usual heat and humidity come rolling in.
I Runfess…I have no problem running outside all winter long but cycling is another story all together. I am a biking wimp when it comes to cold temps. I just don’t warm up as well on my bike. So, I’ve only had about 5 outdoor rides so far this season which would be fine if my first sprint triathlon for the year was not next weekend. Yikes! I would have liked a few more weeks on the bike before the race.
I Runfess…This season of Girls on The Run is just flying by. We are only 3 weeks away from our end of the season 5K race. I am really proud of my 3rd-6th graders for getting out on the field to run and participate through less than ideal weather conditions. Seeing the smiles on their little faces as they complete each lap is just priceless.
I Runfess…I am feeling much better about my running right now so of course, I am looking around for more races to sign up for. Looking at maybe RnR Chicago in July and/or Philadelphia half in November.
Mark your planners for the next Ultimate Coffee Date Linkup Saturday, May 5th.
Felt good to get all of that off of my chest! Are you finally having great spring temps? Should I sign up for one of those races? What do you have to April Runfess?
Linking up
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
I also thought we were going to skip spring so the warmer temps have been nice! I think I would have a hard time cycling during the winter as well.
Deborah Brooks says
cycling sure has been challenging this year!
Wendy says
Did you say RnR Chicago? Can I do anything to convince you to come? I’m working on Holly as we speak… Marcia will be there…
Deborah Brooks says
Yes I am thinking about it! I would so love to hang with you all. I am just wondering how hot it will be!? I could also do the 10K I see it’s at the same time
Maureen @ Maureen Gets Real says
I was convinced we would go from winter to 90+ degrees and humidity. I’m so glad spring decided to show up so our bodies could adjust to those temperatures before the real heat comes.
Deborah Brooks says
I know it’s been a crazy year!
Emily @ Pizza & Pull-Ups says
A friend of mines daughter is part of a girls on the run group here, such a cool program. Hope you have a great weekend!
Deborah Brooks says
It’s a fantastic program I love working with them
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
You definitely don’t warm up as much on a bike!
We had some nice weather & then it totally disappeared. ๐ But next week looks to be nice. Skirt weather, at least. April showers were in full force up here this month!
Just think of everyone you’ll get to meet in Chicago . . .
Deborah Brooks says
Yes I am waiting for skirt weather! I agree might be worth a trip to Chicago just to hang out with everyone
[email protected] says
Wait, spring? what is that? LOL I would be happy to just skip to summer weather but it looks like spring is finally coming out of hiding.
Good luck picking what races to do. This seems like a very stressful thing for a lot of people!
Deborah Brooks says
ha ha it does and for totally no reason! Hope you get some great golfing weather headed your way
Deborah Brooks says
I think your site does not like me today it thinks I am a bot ๐
Laurie says
I have done the RnR in Chicago and loved it. I wish I had done the half in Philly. I did the full and struggled for the last half. It’s one of those races where you see the half finishers turning to the finish line at mile 13, and you have another 13.2 to go. I think that’s tough mentally. It was for me!
Deborah Brooks says
I can totally see that! I might have to do the Philly half and RnR too
Darlene says
Spring has skipped April but I think it will arrive in May.
You should sign up for a NYC race!
Deborah Brooks says
I have not done a race in NY yet either! I am going to be an empty nester soon so next year may be the year. Which one do you suggest? Maybe a 10 miler or 10K
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
I’m with you – so happy for the spring weather, though it’s currently raining in Philly! I would love if you ran the Philly half – I’ve been on the fence about signing up!
I’m sure you do awesome in your triathlon! ๐
Deborah Brooks says
I will let you know! A few friends are trying to talk me into it
Susie @ Suzlyfe says
Well, you know that if you come to Chicago you need to make a little time in your schedule for me! And Chicago is an amazing city ๐
Deborah Brooks says
Well absolutely! I need to see that little cutie of yours and you always have the best food ๐
Marcia says
You know I’m raising my hand for RnRCHI. All the cool kids will be there…
I think the extended winter weather made time seem to stand still, except it didn’t. We have track conference next weekend and I feel like we just got started!
Deborah Brooks says
I am leaning towards coming to RnR. Just need to nail down a few dates w kid stuff. It would be worth it just to hang out with you and Wendy! I will figure it out soon!
Marcia says
Yay! Kim (Kookyrunner) and Kim (RunningOnTheFly) are planning to be there as well.
Deborah Brooks says
Peer pressure at it’s best!
Erinn says
I wouldn’t be able to bike in the winter either!! We really did skip spring all together…next week will be in the 80s, it’s like we went straight to summer!
Deborah Brooks says
I know it’s crazy this year!
Megan @ Meg Go Run says
I never road bike outside in super cold temps. That must be tough! My brother is an avid cyclist and he was in his basement on his trainer all winter!
Deborah Brooks says
Cold weather biking is not for me at all!
Elizabeth at Reserved for Running says
I runfess that I think about what I’m going to eat after my run for a ridiculously long amount of time! It’s an ongoing battle!
Deborah Brooks says
Right there with you!
Kim G says
Can I convince you to sign up for RnR Chicago since I’ll be there? LoL. Wendy and Marcia will be there too! Also RnR Philly is in September if you’re looking for another Philly race to do ๐
Deborah Brooks says
You are going to be there too?! Peer pressure at it’s best ๐ I am leaning towards coming but need to figure out a few things w my kids first. I may even do the 10K bc I am worried about the heat. Will let you know!
Lesley says
I finally got outside yesterday a run. It’d been over two weeks since that happened. It always seemed the weather was good on my non-running days.
Deborah Brooks says
Ha it does seem like sometimes!
Chaitali says
I’m glad the weather seems to have settled in to warmer temperatures ๐ And I’ve heard great things about both those races, sounds like either would be a good option!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes the weather finally seems to have turned around for us!
Fairytalesandfitness says
I don’t bike in cooler temps either. We’re as running makes me feel warmer, biking just makes me feel colder! Good luck with your girls on the run group.
Deborah Brooks says
Biking does seem to not warm up my body as much either. It’s great in the height of summer though
Coco says
Ooh, I might be interested in Philly …. Our spring weather still seems fleeting – but I hear that it might be summer next week.
Deborah Brooks says
I think it is going to be summer for a few days. I am looking at the Philly half. It’s 2 weeks after Ragnar so have to see how it’s going
Teresa says
I’m with you regarding the bike and cool weather. I rode today with temps in the upper 60s and felt fairly cool at times. I need it to be HOT when I ride! Good luck on the tri and yes, you should definitely go for one (or both) of those races!
Deborah Brooks says
I was cold on the bike today and then immediately ditched my layers for my run. Lots of wardrobe changes around here!
Kimberly Hatting says
YESSSSSSS….you have to trek to Chicago! Hands down, end of discussion ๐
Deborah Brooks says
Well I just heard you were going to be there too! I am a little worried about training for a half in the heat but they also have a 10K so I may do that. I am leaning towards coming!
Akaleistar says
It’s finally starting to feel like spring here, too ๐
Deborah Brooks says
It did for a few days but now ??
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
I haven’t been on my bike since last August. Today we were looking at bikes and my husband asked when I plan to get back on mine… I told him as soon as it gets warm enough! ๐
Deborah Brooks says
Seriously It has been picture perfect for running not so much for biking
