I have sure had one of those weeks! You know what I mean, your schedule gets all bolluxed up which stresses you out. The phone notifications keep coming and they are hard to keep up with. I over committed myself to a few events and my husband has been away all week. Ahh that felt good to get off of my chest. Anyway, today I am appreciating the little things that make me smile.
Appreciating the little things that make me smile
Enjoying coffee outside on the deck
On one of those where it was spring for hot second, I popped outside to the deck to savor my morning coffee. Once the trees and flowers all fill back in, it will be even more relaxing.
When the shampoo & conditioner run out at the same time
Seriously, how great is it when your shampoo and conditioner bottle run out at the same time? It rarely happens to me as I use so much more conditioner than shampoo. The little things indeed.
A good night’s sleep
How fabulous is it when you wake up and realize what a good night’s sleep you had last night? I think I now officially sound like an old person. I do love my sleep! I never sleep well if I have a race or even an early run the next day. The little things.
Nooks & Crannies
Does anyone else get excited to watch the butter melt into the nooks and crannies of a piping hot English Muffin? The little things.
5 minutes of fame?
Hopped in bed the other night to read my Women’s Running Magazine. No one was more surprised than I was to see one of my recent Instagram photos showcased. We are following each other on Instagram right? The little things.
Tell what little things are making you smile this week? Happy Weekend!

Congrats on being in Women’s Running Magazine! That’s awesome! I have not been sleeping well this week (this morning I was up at 3:30 am!) I cant wait to be able to use the deck more. We cleaned it last Saturday but it wasn’t dry in time to sit out there before the cold and rain returned.
Deborah Brooks says
yes I am looking forward to more outdoor coffee dates too!
Darlene says
Happy to be home and have dinner out with friends esp one who is going thru chemo.
Deborah Brooks says
That is something to appreciate for sure!
Wendy says
Your post made me smile! The sun is shining and it’s going to be 60. I only work a half day today. It’s Friday!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes a lot of little things to smile about for sure. Have a fantastic day!
Laurie says
Love the picture of you with coffee on your deck. That is me in the summertime! We went to Richmond, VA for the weekend, and the weather was beautiful – warm, spring-like and sunny. Now, back in PA, it is winter again. Ugh! The thing that makes me happiest this week is the anticipation of seeing my Colorado grandson on Sunday. Hubby and I are babysitting for a week. Yay!!!
Deborah Brooks says
Enjoy your grand baby! That does sound perfect
Maureen @ Maureen Gets Real says
Watching butter melt on English muffins is so satisfying to me for some reason! One thing that’s been making me smile this week is the weather. It hasn’t been super warm but it’s warm enough that I don’t freeze going outside.
Deborah Brooks says
I was freezing my butt off last night at my son’s lacrosse game! Looks like things might heat up this weekend though. Enjoy your weekend
Marcia says
Oh how fun! I haven’t cracked open my WR yet but I will! I wish they’d give us a heads up when they include our pics. Envious of your coffee time on the deck. I hopeful that may happen soon here….Happy Friday!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes a definite heads up would be nice so we could enjoy our 5 minutes of fame 🙂
Emily @ Pizza & Pull-Ups says
Totally with you on the English muffin, the little things are the best sometimes. Hope you have a nice, relaxing weekend!

Oh, wow, how fun to your IG in print!! I love all those little things – especially coffee outside — what happened to my coffee outside weather?
Deborah Brooks says
I am sure it will come back just in time for us to start complaining about the humidity
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Butter melting into nooks & crannies yum!
I think by now I’d take some sunshine even if it were cold, which is probably exactly what I’ll be handed tomorrow morning. I can’t even tell you how starved for sunshine I am.
Birdsong in the mornings makes me smile.
Deborah Brooks says
The sunshine does wonders for my mood even it is cold

My mouth is watering for that english muffin with butter right now! I may have to pick up a bag this weekend…we haven’t had them in ages!

Deborah Brooks says
I had not had them for ages either and then I was craving one!
Lesley says
I’ve always enjoyed my sleep. I need a lot in order to function. This has been a pretty busy week with all-day trainings at work and then playing catch up. It feels good to get to bed and sleep.

It sure does! Hoping to get some extra sleep this weekend

Have a great weekend!

I love watching the butter melt on my English muffins too!
My fav little thing was finally figuring out a leg exercise….I was super excited!

I saw you IG about that! Nice job

It’s always a good reminder to stop and think about all the little things we’re grateful for! I’m so thankful for my wonderful family and the ability to spend my day with my baby! He’s changing so much everyday!
Deborah Brooks says
It’s such a special time for you-enjoy everyday with him. It goes by so fast
Rachel says
I’ve NEVER had the shampoo and conditioner run out at the same time. I usually buy two bottles of conditioner for every one bottle of shampoo. If that ever happens to me I will be popping a bottle of champagne!!
Deborah Brooks says
I know it never happens! I think it was the second bottle of conditioner running out with the first shampoo. Just made me smile
Megan @ Meg Go Run says
Aw, it is good to appreciate the little thing! Even when we have one of those days, one of those weeks, or one of those months (ack!) we are so much luckier than a lot of people in the world, so it’s good to keep things in perspective and appreciate the little joys in life. This week was a little busy but just fine for me. However, some of the “little” things I appreciated was seeing the birds in our bird bath, eating Wendy’s chicken nuggets, and snuggling with my kitty.
Deborah Brooks says
We have seen really pretty birds in our backyard lately too. Have a nice weekend
Jessica Levinson says
I would have to agree with appreciating the little things in life. Especially looking forward to warmer weather and getting outside more.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes we all are wishing for warmer weather lately!
Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
How in the world did the shampoo and conditioner run out at the same time?! I’m in awe. You need to go buy a lottery ticket or something!
Deborah Brooks says
That never happens right?! Good idea on the lottery ticket
Lucy Edwards says
I love these little things, especially the shampoo & conditioner one. My conditioner always runs about before my shampoo too! The thing which is making me smile it’s the weather in the UK, it’s finally turned warm and sunny this week- spring is finally here!
Deborah Brooks says
Yay for warmer weather! Enjoy it while it lasts
Chrissy says
That’s so fun that you were in the magazine! What a cool thing to randomly stumble across. Also, 100% with you on the butter in the nooks and crannies of those english muffins – yummmm.
Deborah Brooks says
It does make for a pretty yummy breakfast huh?!
Natalie says
Oh I feel you my friend. My last two weeks was so stressful, I could hardly breathe. What really helps me is early morning yoga. That 20 minutes “me” quiet time, and afterwards just sitting on terrace and soaking the first sunrays… that’s what I appreciate the most these days.
Deborah Brooks says
I like that idea! I usually do my yoga later in the day but I bet it’s really helpful to start off your day with it
Julie @ Running in a Skirt says
So much to be happy for this week. Congrats on your photo in print and yes, I love some nooks and crannies too. Happy weekend!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks hope you had a great weekend too
Jenn says
Congratualtions on your photo! How cool is that!
It’s been a rough week, but I am grateful for the cool spring we are having and also for the sweet cards from a few friends. I really needed their kind words this week, and it made a huge difference in my attitude
Deborah Brooks says
Sweet notes from friends make a huge difference! Hope you have a better week too
