Thanks for joining Kim and me for the Weekly Run Down. We are still gallivanting around Italy and yes, all roads do lead to Rome.
All Roads Lead To Rome
Sunday- Path of the Gods hike ( 4 ish miles) + stretch
I was really looking forward to this spectacularly stunning hike in Positano, Italy and it did not disappoint. Italy is having a heat wave at the moment but we could not pass up the opportunity to hike the “Path of the Gods”. The name comes from the legend that the gods assisted Odysseus through the cliffs so that he could avoid the sirens (mermaids). Who else read the Odyssey in high school? Here are a few pics and there are much more on my IG.
Monday- Touring Capri and stretch class
We woke up back in Capri which gave me another chance to check off some more bucket list items. First, we hit up the Chairlift to the best views in Capri. Just stunning. Of course, we took a break for lunch-today I had gnocchi so good.
Later, we went to see the famous Blue Grotto. You are required to take a small row boat into the grotto and then you are rewarded by just stunning views. Really incredible to see how blue the water is. Full reel on my IG.
Tuesday-Peloton tread walk + barre + core + stretch
All roads do lead to Rome (and to pizza). We departed the boat today and headed to Rome to start the second half of our trip just us two. You would think I would be tired of pizza by now-nope not yet. Unfortunately, it was 104 degrees in Rome today so we did not do too much outdoor stuff.
I hit the hotel gym in the afternoon for a quick session jus to keep things moving. Later, we stopped by the Trevi Fountain of course and the Parthenon. These views never get old! It was super crowded as it always is in the summer time.
Wednesday-walking around Rome and sweating a lot!
In the morning we walked all around the Campo De Fiori, the famous market square. Today was really a super hot day! We had another amazing lunch and a bottle of wine (which went right to my head!) We noticed a movie theater showing the new Mission Impossible Movie and decided it would be a fabulous way to stay cool.
Thursday-barre and stretch class
Today we had a fantastic Italian Cooking class where we made homemade pasta and sauces. Every course was paired with more wine. We loved it! Check out my IG for all the photos. It is still pretty warm over here and the heat is exhausting but it’s worth it!
Friday-Stretch class and lots of walking around Rome.
We hit the iconic Spanish Steps in the morning and luckily found them not too crowded. Next, we walked around the Via Condotti known for it’s fabulous shops and restaurants.
Saturday-Peloton tread walk + foam roll class
We were up early to catch a train to Florence and then drive to Chianti{Tuscany) . We are in a beautiful area with lots of wineries. We spent the late afternoon hanging out at the pool.
This photo was kind of a joke but it came out kind of artsy and fun so here ya go!
As you can see, not too much actual exercise happening. Lots of enjoying Italian food and wine 🍷

been absolutely loving your feed on IG Deborah! And thinking of you, hoping y’all are surviving the heat wave. It is so hot there at the moment! But we can all see you ARE surviving it and in the BEST ways possible!
Deborah Brooks says
thanks you know it is hot but I cannot complain as we are in Italy 🇮🇹 and having a great time
Darlene S. Cardillo says
What an amazing trip! Did you come up with this itinerary?
Thanks for sharing all the IG pics.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, it’s been amazing so far. My husband came up with the itinerary after we left our friends on their boat. Since we have done lots of the major cultural things on past visits, we are just taking each day and doing what we want.

All your photos here and on IG are fabulous!! you look amazing despite the heat and it sounds like a fun time. I love the cooking class with wine — count me in!
Deborah Brooks says
thanks it’s been an amazing time so far!

Looks like you are making the most of your time in a beautiful country! The last time we were in Rome it was 106 degrees and the pavement was sticky because it was MELTING! So much fun though!
Deborah Brooks says
It was around 102 in Rome a few days ago and has cooled to the mid 90’s lol. I can’t complain as I am in Rome!
Wendy says
Idk, Deborah, it seems like all that walking and hiking counts as exercise! I’ve really enjoyed your photos on IG . I’m so glad you got to do this trip. Enjoy!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks Wendy! Me too! I will worry about the pasta detox program when I return 🙂
Debbie says
What a fabulous trip! It’s a bummer that you’re there during a heat wave, but it sounds like you’re not letting that slow you down.
Deborah Brooks says
We are not letting the heat stop us and having a fabulous time

Sounds like you are making the most of the trip! I have heard its record setting heat in the rest of Europe. We are heading to Corfu in a few weeks but it should be a wee bit cooler. Great photos, especially the blue grotto! Enjoy all the pizza and wine! And I definitely need to send you a note with your recs for Rome too!
Deborah Brooks says
yes definitely let me know when you need some restaurant info for Rome! My husband is the expert
Cari says
I forgot we had the same shoes as you wore in the Gods hike, which is pretty funny since I’m pretty sure I wore then for cherry blossom. I loved the Odyssey.
So glad you’re having an amazing time. Putting my carbonara story on the agenda for our next catch up. You will laugh.
xx
Deborah Brooks says
ha yes those shoes served me well and will probably be left here to make room for the 2 bags I purchased 🙂 I look forward to a long catch up soon!

Your vacation looks amazing! I’m pretty sure there’s much more activity just getting around everywhere — I think you’ll balance the great food out. When in Rome. 😉 Sorry about the heat wave, but it’s not a lot cooler back home so why not enjoy beautiful sights (and food)?
Deborah Brooks says
it has been hot mouth we are not complaining bc we are in Italy!
Jenny says
What an amazing trip! You guys look like you’re having so much fun. That blue grotto looks incredible. This is the perfect time to take a break from training and just walk a lot and enjoy the sights. You wouldn’t want to be running in that heat or stressing about a race coming up. AND, on the flipside, I’ll bet training for that 5K got your husband in shape for all the walking and hiking on this trip. The timing worked out perfectly.
Deborah Brooks says
It is nice to have a break from things at home and just relax. Yes, my husband is much more amendable to doing things 🙂
Jenn says
Oh my goodness. How incredible. The Blue Grotto is just stunning and I am so jealous of all the amazing views. I really hope you are all having the best time. Enjoy every second.
