A Rain Filled Weekly Run Down 🏃‍♀️

Thanks for joining Kim and me for the Weekly Run Down. This week, we barely saw the sun. It wasn’t super cold but we had lots of rain and it was just kind of dreary. That did not stop me though! Here is a peek into my fitness for the week.

weekly run down

Weekly Run Down

Monday- core + mobility + upper body push + Peloton cycle + stretch

I decided to repeat the same 3-day Peloton split this week. So, today was Push Day again with lots of chest and tricep work. It was pretty tough so just a short and easy Peloton cycle. I am determined to keep up my 30 minutes per day of some sort of stretch/mobility/yoga combo.

Weekly run down

Tuesday- Run day 6 miles + stretch

It was a rainy one today! My plan had a warm-up + 25 min at half marathon pace + 15-sec striders/45-sec recovery x 10. I was a little worried about the fast finish but it went pretty well even in the rain. My new Gortex Ghosts were a game-changer. Full review coming soon!

Weekly run down

Wednesday- core + upper body strength + Peloton cycle + stretch

Today’s strength was biceps and back “pull”. I did a short cycle class and my stretches later in the day. I am doing much less cycling right now as I am upping my run mileage and intensity.

Weekly run down

Thursday- 4.5-mile hill repeats + stretching

My plan called for :

3 x 1 min up hill/1 min downhill

2 x 3 min uphill/ 3 min downhill

I did a 2-mile warm-up and cool-down. We can call this challenging but not crushing. It was raining again today but we caught a break and got most of our run done keeping dry. What doesn’t kill you…

Rain weekly run down

Friday- 30 min lower body strength + core + stretch

lower body Peloton class was spicy 🌶️ I think I am going to feel all those squats tomorrow.

We had our 10th Birthday party for our MRTT group at a local restaurant. It was so much fun to see everyone out of their running clothes. We clean up well!

Saturday-rest day and stretching

I am tired today! Glad it’s my rest day. We have another dressy 50th birthday party to go to tonight. It is kind of fun to  have some more social stuff back.

Sunday-on the plan 8 mile easy run

I have 8 miles on my Wilpers run plan again this week. Looks like the rain will hold off until afternoon.

It has been a super rain-filled week here and we did not see the sun ☀️. I won’t complain too much because the temps are pretty mild and we don’t have any ice or snow.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

Looks like you didn’t let the rain stop you! I love those GoreTex Ghosts! My trail shoes are also GoreTex, which will come in handy today since we got a dusting of snow overnight. Here’s to hoping for some sunshine for all of us. Have a great run today!

Wow, so much rain! Great job not letting it get on your way. As you know we had snow, from Wednesday on… but we did also have sunshine, so I guess it’s an even draw 🙂 Good luck on your run today, and Happy Birthday to your MRTT family!

I was grateful that there was no ice & snow south, so I could actually get a nice walk in on the way home. We still have a dusting of snow and ice — with more snow on the way.

Congrats on all the fun stuff this week in addition to fitness! Yes, you definitely clean up well.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/22/2023 at 12:46 pm

I am definitely grateful for no snow or ice but miss the sun. It is fun to get dressed up every once in a while

It’s funny to hear about everyone’s weather- snow! Rain! Gray skies! 85 degrees (oh, that’s probably just me.) It was a perfect week for you to try out those shoes. You had a lot of great runs!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/22/2023 at 3:26 pm

it was a perfect week to try the shoes! I was glad I had them

  12. Susanne says

    01/22/2023 at 4:42 pm

Looks like a nice week! You look so posh in that party dress. 🙂
Before my foot injury, I did a lot of hill walking and enjoyed it so much!
Running in the rain is quite nice if it’s warm enough – my only problem is having my glasses covered by raindrops. But I hope you get to see the sun soon again!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/22/2023 at 8:46 pm

Yes, I could see having glasses in the rain would be annoying! It was fun to get dressed up 🙂

Ugh, it’s so hard to dial back on cycling when running ramps up. I want to do it all – haha. Hope your training plan is going well – I wanna do Matt’s plan some time. Curious how you like it.

Love that picture of you all dressed up! Hope it was a fun party!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      01/23/2023 at 4:25 pm

I want to do it all too but not get hurt 🙂 This is my 4th round of Matt’s training I love it
