A Race To The Finish Weekly Run Down

Thanks for joining Kim and me for the Weekly Run Down. It is a true race to the finish this week for me. After giving up adjusting my running goals for the year, I realized  that I had a few Peloton goals to chase. I wanted to hit 1000 cycle classes and 18K minutes for the year. Can I do it? Let’s see!

A race to the finish

Monday- Peloton cycle + Glutes and legs week 1 + stretch

Back Home and it’s time to hit it hard to achieve my year end goals. I knew I would need to complete 18 cycle classes this week. There was not a Peloton in Aruba and I don’t like doing their classes on a regular bike. Instead of my walk warm up, I did 2 cycle classes before my strength class. A new 4 week glutes and legs program dropped, so of course I joined that. After, I got in more cycle classes and a stretch.

Then, it was time for some Christmas Football and Chinese food with our friends.

Tuesday- 4 mile run + cycle warm up and stretch

I jumped on the Peloton for a warm up ride before heading out into the light rain for a run. It was a tough re-entry after the sunny 86 degrees of Aruba. It was chilly and wet but I got it done. My 2 running buddies cancelled last minute which gave me the opportunity to listen to a Peloton run and chip away at my goal. So now I just have 138 minutes to go and 13 rides totally doable.

Wednesday- Peloton cycle + lower body strength

Again, I jumped on the bike for my warm up to strength training and then again as a cool down afterwards. 9 classes to go! Today’s strength class got me to my first goal of 18,000 minutes for the year on Peloton. This is higher than last year’s total-yay!

Thursday-warm up cycle + 3.5 mile run + stretch and PT exercises

It was another rare solo run for me today. It stopped raining and the sun really tried to peak out a few times. I thought a lot about the running challenges I faced this year and how I have learned from them. 8 more cycle classes until goal.

Weekly run down

Friday-Peloton cycle + core + upper and lower body strength

Today’s strength classes were doozies! I felt my arms shaking post workout hair washing. 4 cycle classes to goal!

Saturday-1,000th Peloton Cycle class + core + walk

It was a race to the finish and I made it with one day to spare. Today, I hit my 1,000th cycle class. I’m really proud of this achievement. This year, I’ve done way more strength classes and have not focused as much on cycle.

A race to the finish

And that’s a wrap on 2023! Happy New Year friends!

Excellent job on hitting those goals this week (as well as the other milestones throughout the year). Your attitude is spot-on regarding injuries & setbacks… if we can learn from them (physically, emotionally, spiritually), they’re a little more bearable. Best wishes for a fabulous 2024, Deborah!!!
