A few days in Sin City Weekly Run Down

Thanks for joining me and Kim for the Weekly Run Down. This week was busy and fun with a little last minute escape to Sin City for a few days. My travel bag is always packed!

A few days in sin city Weekly Run Down

Sunday- 4.75 mile run + stretch + core

Finally, woke up to a rain free morning. The humidity is just rude but we’ll take it. It was nice to have an easy paced run today.

Weekly run down

Monday-6 mile hike + stretch class

Something different! A group of my running friends headed out to the countryside hike part of the Appalachian Trail. It ended up being a beautiful day and the views at the top were amazing. Kind of cool to hike from Virginia to West Virginia and back again. This was a tough workout! Those Peloton lower body strength classes are paying off!

Weekly run down

Tuesday-3 mile walk + stretch and foam roll

wow I was surprisingly so sore from the hike! Mostly, it’s my calves that feel tight. We all decided to take a day off from our normal run and took advantage of the nice day for a power walk.

Wednesday-3 mile walk + full body strength + core

It felt good to get back to some good strength today! It was a beautiful muring for an outdoor walk as well. Later, I headed downtown for my FBI class. It was a really interesting class about counter terrorism cases. We also learned a lot about how China, Iran and Russia attempt to gain access to and exploit intellectual property.

Thursday -early morning flight to Vegas

We had a very early flight to Las Vegas which meant we also arrived early with the time change of 3 hours. After lunch, I planted myself at the pool for some reading and people watching. Always an interesting scene.

Weekly rundown

Friday-So much walking + Peloton hike +upper body strength + core

I hit the gym in the morning which was surprisingly packed. Later, we walked all along the strip, did some shopping and had lunch. I visit to the spa was on the schedule which is always relaxing and loved the Moroccan decor. Stats say I walked about 8 miles. I drank way too much wine at dinner and woke up in the middle of the night with a massive headache.

Saturday- 4 miles walking + stretch class

I was not feeling stellar this morning likely from the wine mentioned above. Walking around helped a bit otherwise had a pretty chill day.

Later, we went to see Ringo Starr “and his all Starr band” perform. They played a bunch of his own songs, Beatles songs a bunch of other classic rock covers. Of course we stopped for a photo in front of the sphere. One of these visits, I will make in there for a concert.

That’s my week at home and here in city! Hope you are all enjoying a long weekend.

What a fun getaway! I don’t think the sphere was in LV when I went with my sister.

The Appalachian Trail sounds like a fun outing!

You covered a lot of territory this week- literally!

The sphere looks so odd — is it strange just having it in the background or does it blend in with all the other Vegas glitz?

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/26/2024 at 4:23 pm

no not odd at all it is really spectacular in person

Your Vegas getaway sounds like a fun one! Yes people watching at the pool is always “interesting” Haha! I did an early morning run down the strip one time and some people were still staggering out of the casinos. Sounds like an awesome hike!

Sounds like you had a fun hike with your friends. Isn’t it amazing how when even though we’re in great shape, doing something different can really make us sore?

    Enjoy your weekend getaway!

      05/26/2024 at 4:26 pm

yes absolutely different can be challenging. I was really surprised how sore my calves were

I can imagine the gym would be packed in Vegas – too hot to exercise outside! (or maybe too “public” to be running around…) Sounds like a fun trip! I haven’t been there in a super long time. Ouch on the wine 😩

      05/26/2024 at 9:02 pm

I figured everyone would be hung over and sleeping in! Lpl

You look absolutely incredible! That pool photo is gorgeous!

Would love to hear more about your AT adventures. I was considering doing a small multi-day hike but the stories and legends have gotten in my head!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      05/26/2024 at 9:05 pm

definitely a fun getaway. I would not hike like that on my own but great to do as a group. I am not a camping person so one day for me

That sounds like a fun week! I like your day of relaxing by the pool- sounds VERY appealing! It’s funny I was just thinking about Ringo because I was listening to the Beatles Blue Album on my car trip. And… that hike sounds amazing. Always fun to hike to a different state!
