    • Happy Friday! I am linking up with Cynthia, Mar & Courtney for the Friday Five! This week I am giving you a glimpse into what my typical Friday is like. Has you on the edge of your seat huh?
    • 1. My alarm goes off at 6:15 and I get up with the kids to make breakfast and lunch. Yes I have 2 teens and of course they are perfectly capable of getting up on their own. Much to my husband’s dismay, I like to get up with them and appreciate this time with them in the morning before school. We are in a rush but they get out the door by 7 am.
    • 2. Then it’s me time! While my husband is upstairs getting dressed, I have my coffee and check emails and do a little blogging. I am really into omelets packed with veggies and avocado for breakfast. I usually have some MRTT admin stuff to do-checking on the scheduled runs for the day, admitting new members etc.
    • 3. Then I am off to spin class with my friends followed by our Master Swim Class. This is one of my hardest workout days. About 2 1/2 hours of exercise leaves me completely starving and exhausted on my way home. Love that feeling! How about you?
    • 4. Home for a quick lunch. This week I am into roasted sweet potato, squash, black bean and spinach salads. I tend to eat the same thing a few days in a row. I folded a few loads of laundry. Seriously it is never ending and why is it always at the top of the stairs??
    • 5. Today I am doing something special and heading downtown to meet up with my friend & Co-Meatless Monday host, Tina Muir. She is coming to DC to run The Rock n Roll Marathon tomorrow. I am so excited to meet her “in real life”. She is going to “rock” it on Saturday.
    •  I ran out of space on my Friday Five! I am sure I have lots of other Mom things to do today. Those kids should be coming home soon and I guess someone needs to make dinner…
  • Thanks for taking a glimpse into my day. What are you up to today?

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

My parents were always up before me so we’d spend the mornings together and one of them would take me to school, before I could drive and park at school myself. At least by the car ride time I was a functioning human being after breakfast.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      03/13/2015 at 7:02 pm

I like the morning time with them because I know it wont’ last forever.

I’m in awe of the swimming. I feel bad for not cooking my teens their breakfast now. Ha. They coffee themselves up in the mornings without my help. I do cook them healthy dinners every night. My two “boys” at home are 6′ 1″ and 6′ 4″ and need a truckload of nutritious food.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      03/13/2015 at 7:06 pm

Ha don’t feel bad! LOL. My hubs thinks I am crazy. My son is tall too it’s crazy how much they eat!!

  12. Meranda@Fairytalesandfitness says

    03/13/2015 at 9:32 am

That omelette looks good. My kids get up at 6:30 am and we leave the house at 7:50 am and we are still always rushing because they just lag behind! UGH!!! My typical Friday would BORE YOU. We actually had a little treat and went out for dinner yesterday…it was fun.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      03/14/2015 at 5:50 am

I seriously doubt you are boring!

  24. Toni @runninglovingliving says

    03/14/2015 at 8:50 am

My daughter is up by 6 and out the door by 7:10, I work nights so I am not up with her. My typical day is running, blogging, doing schoolwork, cooking and heading to work. Have a great weekend!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      03/14/2015 at 9:07 pm

You pack a lot into your day too! It’s crazy how early they have to leave for school isn’t it?

  25. Karen @ Fit in France says

    03/14/2015 at 3:40 pm

Wow that’s a lot of exercise in one day ! Since laundry is never ending, I decided to do it only on the weekends. I start Friday night and finish Saturday. If someone needs something during the week, it can wait. I could literally do laundry forever but this has really helped concentrate it. Do several loads, then fold once. Sunday morning. Have a great weekend, hope your foot is better.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      03/14/2015 at 9:08 pm

I do feel like the laundry is never ending. I know lots of it is mine. I need to teach them to do their own right?

  26. Jennifer says

    03/14/2015 at 4:39 pm

I always feel like I am doing laundry. I guess it is all the workout clothes.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      03/14/2015 at 9:10 pm

It totally is and multiply that by 2 kids! Crazy 🙂 Hope you have a great weekend

  27. Kathryn @ Dancing to Running says

    03/14/2015 at 7:27 pm

Your kids don’t get up til 6:15? I have several students who complain about having to be out the door well before 6am in order to make the bus on time.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      03/14/2015 at 9:13 pm

Fortunately they drive to school for that reason. Although we live 1 1/2 miles from school if they took the bus it would come at 6:40 just ridiculous! Looking forward to the schedule change next year for sure.

  28. Sandra Laflamme says

    03/14/2015 at 8:30 pm

Sounds like an awesome day to me! Plus you pack in tons of good stuff! Today we did a little workout in the gym and then it was off to the movies to see Cinderella!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      03/14/2015 at 9:14 pm

I am dying to see to Cinderella everyone was so busy this weekend we haven’t had a chance yet. It looks so good. I love a good princess story

  29. Sue @ This Mama Runs for Cupcakes says

    03/15/2015 at 8:07 am

    • Deborah Brooks says

      03/15/2015 at 11:18 am

She is a doll and she crushed it yesterday! I can’t believe people can run that fast

  30. Mar @ Mar on the Run says
