Happy Friday! I am linking up with Cynthia, Mar & Courtney for the Friday Five! This week I am giving you a glimpse into what my typical Friday is like. Has you on the edge of your seat huh?
1. My alarm goes off at 6:15 and I get up with the kids to make breakfast and lunch. Yes I have 2 teens and of course they are perfectly capable of getting up on their own. Much to my husband’s dismay, I like to get up with them and appreciate this time with them in the morning before school. We are in a rush but they get out the door by 7 am.
2. Then it’s me time! While my husband is upstairs getting dressed, I have my coffee and check emails and do a little blogging. I am really into omelets packed with veggies and avocado for breakfast. I usually have some MRTT admin stuff to do-checking on the scheduled runs for the day, admitting new members etc.
3. Then I am off to spin class with my friends followed by our Master Swim Class. This is one of my hardest workout days. About 2 1/2 hours of exercise leaves me completely starving and exhausted on my way home. Love that feeling! How about you?
4. Home for a quick lunch. This week I am into roasted sweet potato, squash, black bean and spinach salads. I tend to eat the same thing a few days in a row. I folded a few loads of laundry. Seriously it is never ending and why is it always at the top of the stairs??
5. Today I am doing something special and heading downtown to meet up with my friend & Co-Meatless Monday host, Tina Muir. She is coming to DC to run The Rock n Roll Marathon tomorrow. I am so excited to meet her “in real life”. She is going to “rock” it on Saturday.
I ran out of space on my Friday Five! I am sure I have lots of other Mom things to do today. Those kids should be coming home soon and I guess someone needs to make dinner…
Thanks for taking a glimpse into my day. What are you up to today?
Natalie says
I love this!! What a fun day you have planned! The exercise with friends looks like a blast!! I am all about that omelet 🙂
And yes, WHY is the laundry never ending?!!
How wonderful that you get to meet Tina in real life and see her race!! I can’t wait to hear – I mean read – all about it on Monday!!! 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
I do love working out with friends always makes it more fun. So excited to meet Tina IRL. Have a great day!
Kelli says
I am so with you on those days with more than 2 hours of training generating a GIANT appetite! You seem to behave better than me with your food choices, though. 😉
Deborah Brooks says
Ha I only showed you part of what I ate! Damn those girl scout cookies 🙂
Coco (@Got2Run4Me) says
Oh how fun to be meeting Tina! Have a great day!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks I am excited to meet her in person. I kind of feel like she is my little sis
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
Isn’t it amazing how full our days can be? I have one day off during the week and it’s never spent just laying around…..
Deborah Brooks says
I know we can certainly multitask and cram a lot in there!
Susie @ SuzLyfe says
Have fun with Tina! She’s a gem 😀
Deborah Brooks says
Can’t wait to meet her IRL!
Betsy says
I think it is great that you get up with your teens! My son is 7 and I love that time together before the day begins.
Deborah Brooks says
I do too! My hubs thinks it’s ridiculous 🙂
Jennifer @ Running on Lentils says
That salad sounds great! I’m the same way with eating the same thing a few days in a row if I really like it. Have fun with Tina!
Deborah Brooks says
We did! She is a doll!
Mary Beth Jackson says
great day! I love Fridays! I am at work (hehe) and today is my bosses birthday. We all have to leave for annual conference on Sunday by 1pm so guess what? We are having cake at 1 today and then all leaving for the day! So I need to count cash, send out emails and look busy 🙂 Have a great weekend!
Deborah Brooks says
You do look busy with all that typing 🙂 Have a great weekend!
Lesley says
My parents were always up before me so we’d spend the mornings together and one of them would take me to school, before I could drive and park at school myself. At least by the car ride time I was a functioning human being after breakfast.
Deborah Brooks says
I like the morning time with them because I know it wont’ last forever.
Chaitali says
That’s awesome that you’re meeting Tina in “real life” later 🙂 And I’m sure your kids appreciate you being willing to get up with them! I think I would have missed it if my mom hadn’t gotten up with me in the mornings.
Deborah Brooks says
It was so much fun to meet her today-such a cutie!
HoHo Runs says
I’m in awe of the swimming. I feel bad for not cooking my teens their breakfast now. Ha. They coffee themselves up in the mornings without my help. I do cook them healthy dinners every night. My two “boys” at home are 6′ 1″ and 6′ 4″ and need a truckload of nutritious food.
Deborah Brooks says
Ha don’t feel bad! LOL. My hubs thinks I am crazy. My son is tall too it’s crazy how much they eat!!
Meranda@Fairytalesandfitness says
No doubt you are one busy bee! That salad looks fabulous! I think I will steal that recipe!
Deborah Brooks says
It was an easy throw together with balsamic-yum!
Jen @ Pretty Little Grub says
That’s a jam packed day! Your salad looks delicious.
Deborah Brooks says
I always seem to be running around doing I don’t know what!
Ivanna says
Sounds like a great time. I’m working from home today and multitasking
Deborah Brooks says
Multi tasking is my specialty 🙂
Nicole @ Fitful Focus says
2 1/2 hours of working out!! That is some serious dedication! Also – very jealous you and Tina get to hang out! Have a blast!
Deborah Brooks says
That is my usual Friday workout. Got to stay young! Tina was so sweet 🙂
Stephanie (@FitMomTraining) says
I like that you get up with your kids in the morning. When mine are older and able, I think I’d still want to get up with them and have some quality time with them before school.
Deborah Brooks says
It really is a nice time! Hubs thinks I am crazy
Ange @ Cowgirl Runs says
How great that you get to meet Tina this weekend! I love her blog.
I also eat the same thing for breakfast and lunch for days in a row – it helps to simplify my life.
Deborah Brooks says
It does help simplify things a lot! Tina was great-so sweet
Courtney @ Eat Pray Run DC says
Have fun meeting Tina. Your Friday sounds awesome!! I’ll be cheering tomorrow so maybe I’ll see Tina out there!
Deborah Brooks says
I hope you do see her wiz by 🙂
Annmarie says
Love learning about how you spend your day…looks very similar to mine! I always wonder what all the other bloggers are up to! So fun you go to meet Tina, IRL- I bet she is awesome!
Deborah Brooks says
I do think we have lots in common! Tina was so cute and sweet.
Kim says
I always like reading day-in-the life posts. So exciting that you are going to meet Tina today – fun for both of y’all!!!
Deborah Brooks says
I like to read them too. It was hard to fit it all in the post. I had a busy day :0
Debbie @ Coach Debbie Runs says
I love day in the life posts. So fun to see what other bloggers (moms, runner, etc.) do throughout their day. And you got to meet Tina! How fun. I know she’ll rock that race tomorrow.
Deborah Brooks says
I hope she does!
MCM Mama Runs says
So cool that you and Tina got to meet up. Hope she has a good race tomorrow…
And, ugh, laundry. I have two clean loads to fold still and the laundry hamper is already full again.
Deborah Brooks says
She was great so sweet. Laundry ugh! Hope you have a great race
Diatta @ Femme Fitale Fit Club says
That omelette looks good. My kids get up at 6:30 am and we leave the house at 7:50 am and we are still always rushing because they just lag behind! UGH!!! My typical Friday would BORE YOU. We actually had a little treat and went out for dinner yesterday…it was fun.
Deborah Brooks says
I seriously doubt you are boring!
Toni @runninglovingliving says
My daughter is up by 6 and out the door by 7:10, I work nights so I am not up with her. My typical day is running, blogging, doing schoolwork, cooking and heading to work. Have a great weekend!
Deborah Brooks says
You pack a lot into your day too! It’s crazy how early they have to leave for school isn’t it?
Karen @ Fit in France says
Wow that’s a lot of exercise in one day ! Since laundry is never ending, I decided to do it only on the weekends. I start Friday night and finish Saturday. If someone needs something during the week, it can wait. I could literally do laundry forever but this has really helped concentrate it. Do several loads, then fold once. Sunday morning. Have a great weekend, hope your foot is better.
Deborah Brooks says
I do feel like the laundry is never ending. I know lots of it is mine. I need to teach them to do their own right?
Jennifer says
I always feel like I am doing laundry. I guess it is all the workout clothes.
Deborah Brooks says
It totally is and multiply that by 2 kids! Crazy 🙂 Hope you have a great weekend
Kathryn @ Dancing to Running says
Your kids don’t get up til 6:15? I have several students who complain about having to be out the door well before 6am in order to make the bus on time.
Deborah Brooks says
Fortunately they drive to school for that reason. Although we live 1 1/2 miles from school if they took the bus it would come at 6:40 just ridiculous! Looking forward to the schedule change next year for sure.
Sandra Laflamme says
Sounds like an awesome day to me! Plus you pack in tons of good stuff! Today we did a little workout in the gym and then it was off to the movies to see Cinderella!
Deborah Brooks says
I am dying to see to Cinderella everyone was so busy this weekend we haven’t had a chance yet. It looks so good. I love a good princess story
Sue @ This Mama Runs for Cupcakes says
I was so bummed I couldn’t meet up with Tina this weekend. We tried, but our schedules weren’t going to mesh unfortunately!
Deborah Brooks says
She is a doll and she crushed it yesterday! I can’t believe people can run that fast
Mar @ Mar on the Run says
there is never enough time to do laundry! when I think I have it mastered, it just adds up again!
Deborah Brooks says
Seriously I know! My son has practice everyday and so much gear to wash. I need an assistant 🙂 or a wife 🙂
GinaB @ Mirror Watching says
It’s all about prep and a little exercise today. Sounds like you had a great Friday. It’s fun to meeting online friends in person.
Deborah Brooks says
It is fun isn’t it! Hope you had a great day thanks for stopping by
Sam @ PancakeWarriors says
Deborah, I love this day in the life! I am super jealous of your daytime workouts – that sounds fabulous! I love that you get up with your kiddos, those will be the memories both you and the kids cherish when they are older! Enjoy your day, can’t wait to see you tomorrow for Meatless Monday!
Deborah Brooks says
thanks! Absolutely it’s a date 🙂
Salt says
Love it! And I love that you got to meet Tina! I wish I had been down in DC for the race yesterday. (Despite all that rain!)
Deborah Brooks says
It was so great to meet her in person!
