Thanks for joining me and Coco for the December 2024 Ultimate Coffee Date. We have some unusually chilly and windy temps this week. I’m all bundled up with my extra hot cup of coffee this morning. Grab your mug and let’s chat.
A bundled Up December 2024 Coffee Date
I always think I won’t have anything to share for the coffee dates, silly me. Here goes!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
While I have never been a run streaker, I do enjoy participating in other types of exercise streaks. Right now, I’m doing the #3for31 challenge from Peloton’s Robin Arzon for the 3rd or 4th year. It’s a totally doable 3 miles or 30 minutes of exercise everyday in December. Honestly, I do that anyway everyday but there is something motivating about being part of a wider challenge and checking it off daily,
IF we were having coffee, I would tell you…
It feels strange and a little sad to know that I only have a few weeks left on the Brooks Running Team. I was lucky enough to join the team in 2020 and it’s been quite a run. Not only did I receive dozens of pairs of shoes and gear over the years, I also felt connected to a fabulous group of other everyday runners.
Brooks really embraced the everyday, regular runner and made us feel special. No one cared how fast or how far you ran. I was lucky enough to attend 2 in person retreats (in Park City and Chicago) where I was able to meet so many of my team mates in person.
I’m definitely going to miss my time on the team. I will need to find a new running identity of sorts. For now, I will just be an average runner with an above average running wardrobe.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
I’ve been switching up my workouts a bit (more on that later). While I’ve been a fitness enthusiast for decades, and have tried so many different types of classes, learning to be a beginner is hard. I’ve added in Pvolve workouts to my existing schedule, and it is a challenge. I’m embracing being a beginner. But hey, if it’s good enough for Jenn…
Your turn! If we were having coffee this December 2024, what would you tell me?
Debbie says
You’ve had a great run with Brooks! No December challenges for me, but I did set that lofty cycling goal so that will keep me busy this month. I’m looking forward to reading your reviews about these new types of workout equipment you’re trying.
Deborah Brooks says
I think you would really like the Pvolve workouts. I’m planning on a full review once I’ve used it for longer. I am sure my comments on your blog are in spam again 🙂
Debbie says
I wish your comments landed in my spam folder instead of who knows where. Once in a while your comment will show up as pending which I immediately approve. Same with Kim’s comments, they always need approving. I’ve tried many times and just can’t figure out why that’s happening to your’s and Kim’s comments and how to fix it. Your comments started disappearing when InLinkz changed way back earlier in the year. I’ve even Googled to see if I can fix it somehow through InLinkz. I’m so sorry it’s happening and I’m as frustrated as you. 🙁
Deborah Brooks says
one thing I thought helped was to uncheck the box to share your latest post. I think if you disable that it will help. It’s an outdated plug in
Jenny says
Oh, so Pvolve uses new equipment? I can’t wait to hear all about it! It’s always good to switch things up.
Now that your time with Brooks is ending, maybe another opportunity will come your way. You never know!
Deborah Brooks says
yes, all new equipment which is fun and will be great for traveling as well when I don’t have weights
Kimberly Hatting says
I’m intrigued with Pvolve also! I think it’s great, and beneficial, to mix up our fitness routines. Gotta keep those muscles guessing (as they recover, LOL), and there’s nothing wrong with some variety.
Deborah Brooks says
I am enjoying the variety and surprised that I am feeling it the way I am
Coco says
Pvovle looks intimidating!
Did you notice that Peloton has a 31-day streak challenge that fits Robin’s 30for30? If you join now it will catch you up.
I’m bundling up for coffee here in Chicago!
Deborah Brooks says
yes, I typically do just join all the challenges each month even if I don’t complete them all. Pvolve is not intimidating but it is different and I am accepting there is a learning curve. I like though!
Michelle says
I enjoy the 3 for 31 challenge too!
Interested to hear more about Pvolve – it’s fun to try something new!
Deborah Brooks says
It is always fun to try new things
Darlene S. Cardillo says
I need to try something new. Good for you.
You were lucky to beat of the Brooks group.
Good luck with the latest challenge
Deborah Brooks says
Sometimes it feels good to have a new challenge!
Marcia says
The Brooks team looks like a great time. I’m sure it’s sad to have your time on it come to an end, but on to the next! Pvolve sounds like a great workout.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes, it is sad but I am ok with it. I’m really enjoying Pvolve so far it’s a great compliment to my existing program
Wendy says
I too am sad about Brooks–also feeling a little bit betrayed? if I’m being honest. But I’m happy to take all the good that came out of this and move forward.
I’m looking forward to hearing more about Pvolve!
Deborah Brooks says
yes, it will be odd not to be part of Brooks after so many years. We will be ok! I’m really enjoying Pvolve so far and I think you would like it
Jenn says
You’ve been such a wonderful ambassador for Brooks! It must be hard to see that come to an end. 🙁
I love run streaks, but struggle with other streaks. It’s just so tough to carve out all the time.
Deborah Brooks says
I will miss Brooks but it’s ok 🙂 I am not a run streaker but definitely love to do some sort of movement daily
Farrah says
Aww, I’m sorry that it’s coming to an end, but glad you had so many great memories and experiences with it! You’ve been a wonderful ambassador for Brooks!
I’ve been changing up my workouts and just doing a variety of things again — I like thinking of it as cross-training, hehe. 😀
Deborah Brooks says
Changing it up is good!
