I don’t know about you but I am so ready to get back to the more regular schedules and set meal times that September brings. Don’t get me wrong Summer I still love you but I am ready for you to go until next year. Summer is all about being more casual and free and letting things go. Some of the things I let go (a little) were a few of my healthy eating habits. With the start of the school year, September always seems the perfect time to do a little reigning in and reorganizing before the holiday season. When I heard about the Sparkling Detox Challenge with Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water, I knew it would fit just perfectly with my September Reset. This post is sponsored by Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water. All opinions are my own.
September Reset
Yes we fitness enthusiasts like to talk about balance and yes, life is all about balance. For me, that balance means switching things up from time to time. These last few months I definitely enjoyed my ice cream cones on vacation, sampling lots of coffee shops and a few glasses of Rose wine. That’s what summer is all about! I certainly started to feel that post vacation blah and I am ready for my September Reset. Joining in on the #SparklingDetox challenge with Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water seems like an easy way to start.
How does the #SparklingDetox work?
#SparklingDetox is a 5 day challenge in which you replace all of your beverages with Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water for the full 5 days. This is not a diet so you would continue to eat the healthy and balanced diet that you normally do. See here for a store locator or find it on Jet.com.
Join the Gerolsteiner Sparkling Detox Facebook Group. There you will find nutritional tips and recipes from Nutritionist Ariane Hundt.
What are the benefits to participating in the #SparklingDetox?
A focus on hydration for a few days. On days where I know I am eating well and staying hydrated, I feel like I have all the energy in the world. Even my skin seems to look better. The high mineral content provides essential nutrients such as calcium (84 mg/8 fl oz), magnesium (26 mg/8 fl oz) and bicarbonate (482 mg/8 fl oz), which the body needs daily and cannot produce itself.
Mineral water has no calories, no sugar or added flavors. It’s a wholesome way to hydrate after workouts and a natural easy way to detox. What do you have to lose? I roped a few friends into trying it out after our recent run.
I am certainly going to have a little bit of a challenge with the coffee aspect but I am going to try to do it. It’s only 5 days! What do you say, would you like to join me for the #SparklingDetox? It starts today.

Laura @ Sprint 2 the Table says
I would totally do this! We drink sparkling water like it’s going out of style.
Deborah Brooks says
It’s so good! I need to work on reducing the amount of coffee I drink
Cyndi says
Giving up coffee would be hard for sure! I haven’t been feeling my best lately due to food choices, so I’m trying to “reset” as well. Good luck with the challenge!
Deborah Brooks says
I did not feel myself all summer really this reset seemed like a great way to start for me
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
I just don’t think I could give up the coffee. I look forward to starting my day with a cup or 2. Sipping mine as I read this. Is there a caffeinated version of this water? :p
Deborah Brooks says
ha ha not that I have heard 🙂
Marcia says
I’m totally joining you! Can’t wait!
Deborah Brooks says
Should be good for all of us!
Kimberly says
I feel like September and January are my two big “reset” months. I love water in all forms so I would definitely do this challenge, but I think it would be hard for me to give up my morning cup of tea and also kombucha.
Deborah Brooks says
I also like to do a reset every year at this time. Giving up coffee is going to be rough for sure. I just some Kombucha to try (after this 5 day challenge)
MCM Mama Runs says
Good luck with the challenge. I love sparkling water, but I’d have to start weaning myself off coffee way before the challenge or I’d have a headache the entire time. I love my coffee too much to do that LOL.
Deborah Brooks says
Yeah that ‘s going to be rough over here…
Lacey@fairytalesandfitness says
I only drink water anyway, and never juices nor sodas. But I love my coffee in the morning so I do not think I could get rid of that for 5 days.
Deborah Brooks says
That will be the challenge over here it might have to be in phases
Debbie @ Coach Debbie Runs says
Good luck with giving up the coffee! I did this last year and laughed when people talked about not being able to give up their coffee. I was more concerned about the wine! Then, after a couple days I started getting headaches I’m sure we’re from the caffeine withdrawal! But the wine was no problem. 😉
Deborah Brooks says
Yes no problem at all with wine. I am going to have to do a slow coffee detox 🙂
Abbey Sharp says
I love this time of year for setting new goals and new beginnings! Detox challenge sounds so fun! Thanks for sharing with us 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
It is a great time of the year to make some small changes
Emily says
Glad you cleared up my misconception that this was a water only (no food) fast! Rachel made it sound like it was a complete fast. This sounds like a great plan… just can’t give up my coffee lol
Deborah Brooks says
ha ha no it’s just a change up of your beverages
Kimberly Hatting says
You all have inspired me LOL I can’t do the sparkling water, but I’m thinking of doing a simple water challenge of my own. I drink a lot of flavored water (with Mio), but I have to have a couple chai latte’s everyday (sometimes more YIKES!). That’s gonna be tough! I don’t really drink the chai’s for the caffeine, but for the indulgent flavor. Stay tuned….this probably means omitting the Mio as well…yes, definitely stay tuned…. 😉
Deborah Brooks says
I drink a lot of sparkling water already. I love to put lemon and limes and oranges in it for the flavors. Maybe that will help!
Jessica @ Small Bites by Jessica says
Love to mix things up with sparkling water, especially with a squeeze of lemon!
Deborah Brooks says
I love a little squeeze of lemon or lime in mine too
Rachel says
I admit, I’m worried about the coffee. But I do have some Run Gum so I’m thinking that might actually help with the caffeine withdrawal. Woohoo, almost time!
Deborah Brooks says
I may have to do a slow reduction in the coffee 🙂
Liz says
I’m so in! Can’t wait to detox for fall!
Deborah Brooks says
It’s going to feel good!
Mikki says
I just read about this on another blog. I would be missing my coffee too. It will be interesting to see how this works out for you. Good luck.
Deborah Brooks says
The coffee is going to be tough!
Sarah says
Think I’m going to jump on and do this!! Just need to pick some up this weekend. I can cut the coffee for only 5 days. It does fall when I have the GoodBelly Challenge but I can always blend that in a smoothie bowl or just do the yogurt shots on those days. Hope you are feeling back to normal soon.
Deborah Brooks says
So glad to hear that you are in! Should feel good
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
I’m not sure I’m ready to part with my coffee yet, but this sounds like great way to focus on your hydration. Good luck!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks should be!
Nicole @ Fitful Focus says
I’d have a tough time giving up my coffee, but I’d be down to try it!
Deborah Brooks says
It’s going to be hard but I am going to try
Michelle says
I don’t drink anything carbonated, that’s just my personal preference. But for those who do, water is definitely much better for you than soda!
Deborah Brooks says
Definitely!
Judy @ Chocolaterunsjudy says
Sorry, not for me.
I only drink tea (yes, some caffeine, but not a lot), home made smoothies and water. Don’t like sparkling water at all!
Deborah Brooks says
no worries! It’s not for everyone-hope you are having a great weekend
Jill Conyers says
This is a great challenge. I could definitely use a little motivation to drink more water.
Deborah Brooks says
It is a good one looking forward to it
Esther says
I love mineral water!
I also love summer but I am so glad to be getting back to a normal routine!
Deborah Brooks says
Yes indeed me too

Adding berries is a great idea hope you will join in!
Kathryn @ Dancing to Running says
The detox sounds like a great opportunity to help reset yourself, especially at the end of the summer. I know that I enjoyed quite a few treats throughout the summer, and am taking time now to focus on getting back on track.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes me too! We can do it
Sandra D Laflamme says
I have never tried this sparkling water before but will have to give it a try. I am curious to hear how you all like the detox!
Deborah Brooks says
should be interesting!
Jamie King says
I’m definitely joining in on the fun..and we got this with the coffee thing!
Deborah Brooks says
I sure hope so! Thanks
Toni says
This detox sounds amazing! I can’t wait to read how it makes everyone feel. I love sparkling water, but not sure I could survive without my coffee.
Deborah Brooks says
It was a rough first day lol
