June 2025 Runfessions and Confessions
I Runfess and Confess….
In an effort to get in more steps without really trying, I’ve started to walk my errands when possible. We live in the suburbs so I am not really near anywhere to really walk to. What I have been doing is parking “in town” and walking to the post office, dry cleaners etc whenever possible. Sometimes grabbing an iced tea or coffee and often with a friend. I realize people who live in the city do this all the time but it’s not that easy in the suburbs. I was especially proud of myself when I walked 3.5 miles to pick up my car after it was serviced.
I Runfess and Confess…
Like many of you, I suspect, I have a large list of little projects I’d like to complete around the house. I don’t always get around to them. So, when I saw the Washington Post had a one week minimal effort cleaning challenge last week, I opted in. The challenge was emailed daily and involved little tasks that took a short time to complete. I cleaned out my dishwasher filter, replaced a mat in laundry room (instead of cleaning it!), cleaned out crumbs from the cutlery drawer and descaled my coffee maker. This is the kind of cleaning challenge I can get behind!
That’s about all I’ve got to Runfess and Confess today. See you next week for the July Ultimate Coffee Date. I will be enjoying my Cafè with a view.
Great job on the extra walking! It feels good to sneak in a little extra movement while doing other tasks 😉 Total win-win!
it really does when I can make it happen
That does sound like a doable household project challenge! I do enjoy walking to do as many errands as possible, but like you it’s kind of difficult living in the suburbs.
Yes, there are only so many CVS trips to make! LOl
So great that you managed to boost your step count just by doing errands! I noticed the same thing when we were in Boston in April. It’s surprisingly tricky to get much walking in the suburbs. Nicely done!
Also, I love your cleaning challenge! Those little daily wins really do add up, just like your steps!
yes, it is so much easier in the city for sure
Nice work on all the walking! Now that I’m sidelined from running, I’ve been doing a lot more walking! I have no excuse–where I live, we have a lot of great places to walk. My goal is to get out after dinner. Idk why that is so hard.
I do much better after breakfast and lunch. We eat dinner later and it’s too late to walk then except when we travel so that’s a plus
Walking is so beneficial. I learned the hard way by stopping the habit we’d cultivated over the past 5 years. Once I ran a couple miles to pick up a rental car. That was a mistake because I was such a sweaty mess. Haha! Oooh I love a good cleaning challenge. Great job!
I do really enjoy my walking and it is so good for us
Last week in Boston I got so sick of taking taxis/ubers, when Google said it was a 45 min walk to my lunch meeting and I had 45 min to get there, I walked — luckily it was cooler than it has been this week.
I should take on a cleaning challenge, but I’ve only got motivation for one day of it!
Oh, I need a cleaning challenge- but I think I need a more “remedial” one. Like, one that tells you to get rid of the cobwebs around the baseboards (yes, I have been slacking a little!)
It is hard to get in lots of extra steps when you don’t live in a city. Sounds like you’re figuring it out though- I bet that feels good.
