Flying Through February Weekly Run Down

Sunday- 7.2 mile run + stretch class

We woke up to a chilly but sunny day which offered up fabulous running conditions. I’m thankful and very happy to be making progress on my long runs. I posted this IG reel with my “unnecessary” girlie thing I do before a run. How about you?

Monday- Peloton walk, upper & lower body strength + core + stretch

A little bit of everything today. I am loving Rebecca’s 4 day split and continuing to lift heavy things.

Weekly run down

Tuesday – 4.5 mile run + stretch & mobility classes

It was chilly but oh so sunny which made for a fabulous run with the squad. Thinking about upping my run intervals for Thursday.

Wednesday-Peloton walk + lower body strength + core & Pilates + evening stretch

Another great day in the gym courtesy of Peloton. Today’s lower body class was spicy! We will see how that feels on tomorrow’s run!

Check out my review of Peloton’s Beginner Pilates Program

Beginner Pilates program

Thursday- 5 mile run + foam roll + stretch

I upped my intervals today to 5:1 and felt great on this 5 mile run. Big thanks to my run squad who have been sticking by me on this build back. They suggested that I give it a try based on our last few weeks, and they were right.

Weekly run down

Friday- Peloton walk, upper body strength + core + stretch

Rounding off the week with another great strength session. Later met up with a few friends for sushi. Looking forward to a relaxing weekend ahead. I did not take a workout pic today so here is my breakfast tostada.

Weekly run down

Saturday-Rest day

Morning Peloton walk and a few stretch and mobility classes. I upped my mileage this week and my strength sessions so I wanted to make sure to take my recovery seriously to day.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

So nice that you have running partners.

And your running is progressing so well.

I use my friend’s 90:30. It works well. I tried longer but still out of shape. But running is running. We both know injuries suck.

Running is running and I am just happy to be out there doing it

It’s so great to see you making such a strong comeback. Are you still taking the creatine? I swear, that has really helped my workouts and runs feel so good.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/25/2024 at 1:17 pm

Yes I am liking it! I am happy to be making a slow comeback too. Can’t wait to run with you

Glad you had such a great week! I need lip balm before a run, but you can tell from my photos that I don’t do anything to sort out my hair!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/25/2024 at 1:18 pm

Yes I do most likely have more time to spend on my picture ready routine lol

Great job on your week as you work toward making your way back!

Yes on the lipgloss/lipstick! As I mentioned recently in a post, two of my three reasons for wearing lipstick when I workout are not for vanity reasons.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/25/2024 at 1:19 pm

Ha yes it sure does help with the selfie too though. No shame here

Yes, I’m also a card-carrying member of the Primp & Shimmer Club. My skin is very dry, including my lips. Why not add some color & shine 🙂 Besides, selfies happen, LOL. Your rally-back is going so well, keep it up!

thanks I am excited to be making progress. Slow and steady!Selfies do happen- no shame here

I am thinking about trying Rebecca’s 4 day split, I have read great things about it! I have also read a lot of people are sore for days after her lower body class…

So glad you are feeling strong on your runs! You had a great week and that tostada looks yummy!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/25/2024 at 1:21 pm

Some days I am more sore than others. I really love her classes and the challenge of them

  7. Melissa says

yay for some good runs!! glad the intervals are working and you have a great running crew to help you get back. I don’t typically wear lipstick but if i had to put something on it would be mascara.

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/25/2024 at 1:22 pm

Well, admittedly I do wear mascara as well 🙂 Intervals are working well and making a slow comeback

The tostada looks delicious! A great post run meal.

I’m so glad your running is feeling strong! You’re doing a fabulous job with the build back. And sunshine always helps!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/25/2024 at 1:22 pm

Thanks trying to stay slow and steady to avoid any other injury holding me back

  9. Jenny says

    02/25/2024 at 10:53 am

Hmm, now I know why everyone else looks so good in their run selfies while I look like death (I’ve had some special ones at the gym lately!) Maybe I need to put forth a little more effort.
Glad to hear you’re feeling so good! So, you and Coco and Melissa… I need to jump on this comeback train! Seriously, it just goes to show if you hang in there and don’t give up, you’ll get there.
    Your run squad is awesome!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/25/2024 at 1:23 pm

I am all for a little primping pre workout 🙂 no shame there. As you told me once, you have recovered from 100% of your previous injuries and you will from this one too. Slow and steady!

You seem to be in good form! Yay for upping the run intervals! I’m so glad for you for having your support team aka your run squad. That’s fantastic.
I use lip balm for practical reasons only (my lips go mad in the winter) but before starting an at-home workout, I pimp myself a bit in case I want to take selfies!

    • Deborah Brooks says

      02/25/2024 at 7:33 pm

      nothing wrong with that!! 🙂

I took my hat off at breakfast this morning and oh the static. I need to do some pre run beauty if I’m going to lose my hair ties. Love the Monday tights!

Ha I do like to be selfie ready 🙂

So happy to hear you’re getting in longer runs. And chilly, but sunny weather sounds perfect.

I also love your leggings in the weight lifting photo!

    • Deborah Brooks says

Thanks I am happy too and feeling good 🙂

I’m not a lip gloss/lipstick girly, but I do always put on mascara. I have no idea why, especially because I usually wear sunglasses. It’s just one of those habits that’s hard to release.

Love seeing your progress and watching every day get stronger and better! Way to rock that recovery!

I also wear mascara and perfume LOL. Thanks it is nice to be slowly making progress
