Winter is Blowing in Weekly Run Down

Thanks for joining Kim and me for the weekly run down. This week winter reminded us that she is blowing in. While we have not been as cold and we missed the big snow, the wind has been crazy.

Winter is blowing Weekly Run Down

Sunday- 6 mile run + stretch + core

The storm that wasn’t a storm moved out overnight and we awoke to a beautiful sunny morning. It was a crisp 35 at the start but warmed up fast. My favorite running weather. Longest run in a while feeling good. Every run is a gift.

Weekly run down

Monday- Peloton walks + upper & lower body strength + core + stretch

I do love to hit it hard on a Monday! I am in week 3 of Adrian’s glutes and legs program and it’s tough. In a good way. I went out for an extra afternoon walk in anticipation of tomorrow’s big rain storm.

Today was also the start of the new Brooks Running Collective (previously the Run Happy Team). I am looking forward to getting back into my running this year and making new friends along the way.

Weekly run down

Tuesday- 3.25 rainy and cold miles + core + stretch

It was a horrendous day with lots of cold rain and wind. Did I want to go back to sleep and skip my run? Absolutely. My running buddies canceled. But, I got up and got out there and got a few miles in. Do wet and cold miles count double? You bet!

PS-My Gortex Brooks Ghost shoes kept my feet dry and warm! Best purchase!

Weekly run down

Wednesday- core + full body strength + 3 mile walk

Felt good to do some heavy strength today. It’s a super windy and cold day but when a friend suggests a mid day walk, I say yes. We sure  had to bundle up though!

Weekly run down

Thursday-4 mile run + core + stretch

I am soaking up the sun today before our next cold rain comes rolling in. The wind was crazy again today but as long as the sun is out I am happy.

Weekly run down

Friday- Peloton walk + lower body strength + core + stretch

I finished week 3 out of 4 of my Peloton glutes and legs program. I had the best sleep last according to my Oura ring. My husband is finally coming home tonight after a 10 day work trip and while I did miss him,  I am worried he is going to mess up my streak!

Saturday- Rest day from running and strength

I took a walk after the rain stopped and did my daily stretch class. We had a weird day that started off warm and end up freezing and so windy. We keep missing the snow and getting lots of cold rain and wind.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

Looks like cold will be a common theme this week.

We had snow but then lots of rain.

Supposed to be even colder this week. I hate it. But I expect it.

Good job on getting it all done. It’s tempting to bail when friends do.

I do not enjoy running solo but sometimes it has to be done. Yes, looks like we are in for a cold one this week!

This weather is messing with my plans to get outside and run! It’s very cold this morning–not to mention the wind–so it looks like the TM is in my plans. Sigh.

Glad your hubs is coming home. I’m sure you are relieved! I have no doubt you’ll continue your streak even with him home!

It’s definitely a lot colder this week but nothing like your temps. I am glad he is home and I’ve already warned him not to mess up my sleep 🙂

so glad that you’re feeling good!! nice long run to kick off the week and great job getting in those strength workouts.

It was a good workout week!

Excellent job getting out in a cold rain! Not at all my jam, I’d probably be with your running buddies.

I’m sure you can keep your streak burning even with the hubs home. 🙂

I’m not sleeping terribly, but not as well as I usually do — which is part of why I’m dragging. Then again we don’t get a whole lot of sun here.

Getting more sleep does wonders for me so I am taking advantage of it whenever I can!

We definitely had all the weather this week! Looks like you have the gear to handle whatever comes our way.

    Love the rain jacket!

Nice week and i especially hooray about the heavy strength, of course. Well done going out running in the cold rain! It takes some extra effort to go out in such weather but I think it’s very satisfying in a way! It’s been cold here all week too but dry and if I hadn’t been so busy, I would have gone out walking more.

the strength just feels good to me I love the challenge and how I feel afterwards. It does take some extra motivation to get out on a wet and cold day

Looks we all got blasted with winter this week! Nice job with all your workouts, especially the running! Maybe this will be the week I finally check out that glutes program 😉 (I’ve been thinking of it for the past month, LOL).

      01/14/2024 at 12:16 pm

I think you would really like it. It’s very challenging in a good way

Blech- cold rain is the worst! But, you got out there and got it done. That must have felt good. Yes, every run is a gift!
Love the Saturday coffee meme- I feel like I’m doing that today. It’s almost noon and I’m sipping on re-heated coffee, in my pajamas. Why not???

We all need a day like that once in a while! Enjoy

Looks like a great week of fitness for you! I still need to try out Adrian’s program.

The wind was crazy here too! Nice that you avoided the snow – we had some, it got washed away and now it’s snowing again. I’m ready for Spring lol

      01/14/2024 at 4:50 pm

I would love at least one snow day! Stay warm! I am loving the split programs I’ve done and definitely see progress

Well, I’m glad someone didn’t get slapped super hard by the storms coming through. And I love all the sunshine in your photos! That’s half the battle!

Great week! We just have to keep pushing through!

    So glad he’s home safely.
I am over this windy rain. Tuesday night sounded like someone was throwing buckets at my living room window. Every run is a gift ineed!
And congats on Brooks renewal. I think I said that before but can’t remember

It sounds like a great week despite some rain and cold temps. Most of the days looked sunny. It was very cold here too last week.. I am not prepared for almost freezing temperatures… but I got out there, too. Then the sun comes out, it’s not so bad 🙂

I have bookmarked Adrians’s program… I’ll tackle that when I have completed some of my gazillion trackers lol

You do have a lot of challenges going on. His is pretty intense and hard to pair w others. But, I loved it and made a lot of progress

What a nice surprise to wake up to a sunny day for your run on Sunday! I agree, those days are the best. I can take the cold if the sun is shining 🙂
