Thanks for joining Coco and me for the October 2023 Ultimate Coffee Date. Coffee Dates with friends are one of my favorite activities and the best way to catch up. So, if we were having coffee, what would you tell me?
October 2023 Ultimate Coffee Date
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
Often, when my husband is traveling for work, I decide it’s a good time to reorganize things around the house. This week, I did some pantry reorganization with some new storage containers. I also switched out all of our old plastic Tupperware for new a glass set. Sometimes, I rearrange the stuff on his side of the sink just to see if he notices. Yes, he notices.
Admittedly, I get a little chuckle when I see him searching around for something and wondering where it is. Oh, it’s the little things that keep a spark in the marriage. Ha ha! I do wish someone would come in and do my closet for me. It seems like a never ending task each season.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
I pretty much never carry cash anymore. I find it so much easier to just Apple Pay everywhere and use Venmo to tip people when necessary. It seems like no one really wants to deal with cash in stores anyway. Do you find this where you live? Do you still carry around cash at all?
If we were having coffee, I would tell you…
It seems that everyone is all about those pumpkin spiced lattes. Honestly, I don’t get it. They are so super sweet and just not very tasty to me. I am all about my coffee but call me old fashioned while I sip my drip coffee with half and half. Yes or no on the pumpkin spice?
I do love Pumpkin Spiced Banana Oatmeal Bake though.
If we were having coffee, what would you tell me?

I’m with you on the PSL thing. I love pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, pumpkin bars, etc., but I really don’t want to be drinking it, LOL.
Deborah Brooks says
Exactly!
Darlene Cardillo says
Yes. I rarely use anything but Apple Pay or Venmo. I don’t get why folks are afraid.
Yes. On pumpkin Spice. Sorry. But love it more for foods.
Deborah Brooks says
Apple Pay is so easy who wants to carry cash and a wallet!
Marcia says
Did you notice that nobody accepts cash in Europe? I think that would be a great idea here too. Send that closet organizer over this way when you find one. The struggle is real! Haha! I agree the PSL is way too sweet.
Deborah Brooks says
Yes we never even got any Euros in Italy! We tipped a few people w US cash and they were happy
Michelle says
Apple Pay and Venmo are so much more convenient. I honestly cannot remember the last time I used cash.
I keep saying that I want to splurge on hiring a closet organizer/consultant once our remodel is done to help set up our walk-in closets. My current closet situation is utter chaos!
PSL is very sweet – I definitely prefer pumpkin in my food vs. my coffee.
Deborah Brooks says
I do need a closet organizer in a big way!
Jenny says
I don’t drink the PSLs because they’re not vegan and have a ton of sugar… but the truth is, I would probably like them! Like you, I make my own pumpkin treats at home. Pumpkin oatmeal has been my favorite breakfast lately.
I actually always have cash on hand, because I get cash tips at work. I feel like I’m turning into an eccentric old person- carrying around heavy books (instead of an e-reader) and paying for things in cash. Oh well!
Deborah Brooks says
ha ha we know who to come to when we need cash!
Debbie says
Well, since I don’t like coffee I’m sure I wouldn’t like PSL. Overall, I’m not a huge pumpkin fan, but I do like to have pumpkin bread at least once during the Thanksgiving season.
LOL on rearranging stuff and your husband not being able to find it. Sounds familiar!
Deborah Brooks says
It is kind of fun to watch them looking around for stuff!
Erica @ Erica Finds says
I’m a no on PSL! I like pumpkin stuff and pumpkin spice but not in my coffee!
Deborah Brooks says
yes, same. Who are all these people drinking PSL?
Chocolaterunsjudy says
I don’t have venmo or apple pay. I rarely pay with anything but CC, but I do carry a little cash with me because you just never know.
I don’t get the whole spending $5 (or whatever it is) on flavored drinks when I can just make my own! I can be lazy, but not over that. We’ve all got our quirks, though, that’s for sure.
Deborah Brooks says
We sure do!
Coco says
I just got cash for the first time in months. I didn’t even use any in Copenhagen. Well, I tried to use up the kroner coins I foudn at home, but it turns out some were Swedish kroner, so I didn’t have as much as I thought!
LOL on our opposing views of PSL. I generally prefer my plain coffee, but do like a PSL from time to time.
Deborah Brooks says
well you go for it and enjoy your PSL! We never used cash in Italy either no one wanted it!
Farrah says
hehe, my parents are traveling right now so my brother and I are taking this time to reorganize/declutter the house!
I very very rarely ever have cash on me anymore either, hehe. It’s so much more convenient with card (or phone)!
I’m not a PSL-er either. Chai lattes for me!
Deborah Brooks says
I am sure my parents would love for me to declutter their house! No thanks though 🙂
San says
I always carry a little bit of cash (for emergencies), but I usually like to pay with my card/Apple Pay. Last year when we traveled though, there were places that only wanted cash and I sure was glad that I had cash on hand… it depends on where you are. Big cities? No problem. Out in the boons? Might be different 😉
Deborah Brooks says
good point!
Jenn says
I do the same when my husband is out of town. This time, I warned him that I am looking to update our plates/silverware/glasses. He’s afraid. Very afraid.
I don’t like PSLs, but I do like peppermint mocha. When I make my iced coffee at home, I drink the kind that’s black (an espresso blend, actually) with just less than a tbsp of flavored creamer. Usually vanilla. No sugar.
Deborah Brooks says
ha ha he should be afraid!
Zenaida Arroyo says
I like pumpkin-spiced coffee here and there. I won’t drink it every day. I rarely use cash anymore but use instead my credit card. I’ve never used Apply Pay and don’t know how to use it! I guess I should learn.
Deborah Brooks says
Apple Pay is great and you don’t have to carry any credit cards
