California State of Mind Weekly Run Down

Thanks for joining Kim and me for the weekly run down today. We are in a California state of mind as we headed out to a wedding and then fun in the wine country. Here’s a peek into my week of fitness and fun.

California State of Mind

Sunday- 5K run with the hubs + stretch

Another successful run in the books with the hubs. ✅ He still does not “love” running but is a good sport for the photos.

California state of mind

Monday- Peloton walk + lower body strength + core + intervals and arms cycle + stretch

I am in the 3rd week of Andy’s density strength program and today was mostly heavy lower body strength. I had to dig deep on this one today. It is another gorgeous day here with low humidity so an afternoon walk is on my schedule as well. Keeping busy and keeping moving forward.

California state of mind

Tuesday-3 mile run/walk + barre + core

We were gifted with a cool (for June) morning and it was nice to be out on the trail with my squad.e I’ve b even continuing with my A to Z joy of running challenge on IG. R is for Resilience. Running teaches us that we are resilient. We can retry, restart, rebuild. (Ok now you say it back to me lol)

Weekly run down

Wednesday-Peloton walk + stretch

I had another sleepless night from some more muscle pain (a nice side effect of some of the meds I am taking) I was glad I did my Global Running Day run yesterday because we were in a code red from the wildfires today. I also was exhausted and after a frustrating doctor appointment, I was pretty much done.

Thursday- yoga class

Another poor sleep night due to muscle pain. My GP gave me some muscle relaxers and I am hoping to have some better sleep tonight. My Oura ring was yelling at me to pay attention to my rest and get some more sleep. I am trying I really am! Our air quality was in the purple range for the first time ever in DC!

Friday- Peloton walk + core + upper body strength

I finally got in a good night’s sleep of 8.5 hours and was feeling a lot better today. It was a pretty mild workout day but I did hit some Peloton milestones which always keep me motivated.

1700 Peloton strength 💪 ✅

8 K minutes for the year so far ✅

Saturday-Fly to California

First stop Berkeley. We have a rehearsal dinner to go tonight and a wedding tomorrow. After that we are headed to Napa for a few days.

It was not my best week of workouts and kind of a tough week all around. I’m hoping that some California state of mind will do the trick next week.

About Deborah Brooks

Hi I'm Deborah! I spend my days successfully raising a husband & 2 teens in the VA/DC area. I am a lover of all things running & fitness. As a life long vegetarian, I've always been passionate about healthy living & exercise. Looking for partners in crime, I started my own chapter of Moms Run This Town (MRTT) which has grown to over 700 members. I've met so many amazing women who inspire me daily to keep moving forward. You can usually find me running with my crew and training for the next crazy adventure they talked me into. I love to keep up to date on new running & fitness trends. I definitely choose my running gear based on color and love to express my fashion sense while exercising.

I am sorry you had some sleep issues this week. Not getting restful sleep is THE WORST. I hope that is the exception, not the rule for you going forward!
