Thanks for joining Kim and me for the weekly run down today. This week, we definitely felt fall in the air and the wind made its presence known. This week flew by and I was breezing through the last week of October.
Breezing Through October
Monday- core + upper body strength + strength for runners + Peloton cycle
My Garmin let me know that I was “overreaching” after yesterday’s 9.5 mile run. I had only planned for closer to 8 miles but tagged along with my run squad for the extra miles. I decided to take it easy on the Peloton ride today choosing a low impact ride. As I am running more miles at the moment, I am using my Peloton rides as recovery rides and keeping the intensity lower.
Tuesday- 5 mile run + stretch
The crazy headwind that is breezing through this week helped to keep me at a lower speed and intensity. Yes, Garmin I did listen even though I do not believe I asked.
Wednesday- core + upper body + lower body + stretch
I was in more of a time crunch today so I got in a short but effective workout.
Thursday- 6 mile run + stretch
Another gorgeous October running day. My running buddy and I headed back to the rose garden for another late season peak at the blooms. The blue skies, sunshine had us breezing through our run.
Friday-core + lower body strength + strength for runners + Peloton cycle
I was not really feeling it today but you cannot put the work in only on days when you feel like and expect to see the same results. Definitely happy I got it in.
Saturday-Rest Day
Short morning stroll and stretch class.
Sunday- 8 mile run (on my plan)
Happy Halloween! You know I never pass up a chance for a holiday themed run photo!

The wind really got crazy a few days this week! On the days I ran outside it wasn’t too bad. Great job this week!
Deborah Brooks says
The wind did get going this week but I still love to get out there this time of the year

I’m chatting about wind and fall-like weather on my WRD as well. It was a bit unpleasant LOL I’m all about using the bike (indoors or outdoors) as a recovery vice; it’s such a great ‘best friend” for running 😉 I love all of your colorful workout gear!!!!
Marcia says
Good for you for varying your intensity to allow recovery to happen. That’s not easy to do sometimes! Looks like you enjoyed some beautiful weather there!
Deborah Brooks says
agree it is not easy to do and I think a mistake I have made in the past that bit me in the rear. Trying to be more mindful of that
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
I really lucked out and missed the mid-week wind up here – the weather was fantastic at the farm.
I’m looking forward to seeing what Halloween themed costume you wear on your run today! Thanks for the linkup and have a great week!
Deborah Brooks says
Thanks Deb you too!

It’s nice to have something you like to work as a recovery activity! Heading out to get 8 miles in as well. I think it will be a combo walk/run.
Deborah Brooks says
Sounds perfect have a good one!
Darlene says
Can’t wait to see what you wear today.
Our weather was windy and rainy most of the week.
This week looks dry but temps in the 30s. Brrrr
Deborah Brooks says
those cold temps are moving in this week!
Coco says
Good for you for taking those recovery days. I’m trying! My Garmin’s had me in maintenance mode as I ramp up my running miles, so I guess I’m doing it right. A 75 min run doesn’t wear me out after training for a 4 hour bike ride. 😉
Deborah Brooks says
since this is a new Garmin I am not sure it “knows” me that well yet. But, a recovery run never hurts. I have that race next weekend so don’t want to over do too much

Funny how we all live in the same country (or, most of us) and yet our weather is so vastly different. I just read Kim’s post about their awful weather, and then your pictures look so beautiful. I don’t know your temps, but it looks like my favorite kind of day- chilly but sunny. We’re still having summer down here!
Deborah Brooks says
all of our morning run temps were in the low to mid 50″s this week. We did have some wind but it doesn’t bother me. I am always happy to be outside.
Black Knight says
Great job this week, your training plans are very good.
It looks like we have the same weather even if live in 2 different and distant continents.
Deborah Brooks says
It is funny how that happens!

I hear you on not feeling it but doing it! That’s me today.
I’ll bet the roses were lovely — as is the sunshine! We’ve been missing that lately.
Have a great Halloween, Deborah!
Deborah Brooks says
Most days I am really into it but we all have those days when we are not. I always feel better afterwards
Kim G says
I couldn’t believe how windy it was this week! It definitely helped some of the leaves fall form the trees lol.
I loved your IG post today – those Halloween leggings are super cute!
Deborah Brooks says
ah thanks Kim it is the little things that make me smile 🙂
Jessie says
Looks like a lovely week Deborah and you made the most of the wonderful weather!
Deborah Brooks says
I am soaking it all in while it lasts!
Lisa @ TechChick Adventures says
Looks like another great week! The weather was pretty iffy here. Too much rain! But I think this week will be better. I had to bust out my gloves and hat this morning! Sweater weather is upon us 🙂
Deborah Brooks says
yes I almost took out my gloves too! Have a great week
Liz Dexter says
I’m glad I don’t have a fancy enough Garmin to tell me these things! The app does keep telling me to exercise in order to be more resilient, though! Well done on a good week and some lovely bright photos!
Deborah Brooks says
Ha ha yes it is not like I asked Garmin for this info. Hope you are doing well xo
Jenn says
Those skies are so vibrant! Love them!
Those Garmins can really swerve out of their lane! We! Didn’t! Ask!
Looks like you had a great week! We had some headwinds too and they can really slow you down.
Deborah Brooks says
They sure can give you all kinds of info you were not sure you wanted!
Cari says
“. Yes, Garmin I did listen even though I do not believe I asked. ”
OMG. Me all week with technology trying to be helpful and so not. Or at least not helping in a useful way.
Deborah Brooks says
Ha I know! Who asked you Garmin
