Hope everyone had a relaxing and meaningful Thanksgiving. Staying on track during the holidays is not always easy but it can be done. Knowing I am writing the Weekly Wrap helps me stay accountable and motivated. Joining in with Hoho and Wendy to share my week of Thanksgiving Happenings.
Weekly Wrap Thanksgiving Happenings
Sunday- Rest day
Drove back from Philly and headed home to meet our kids who arrived from home from college. Sitting in the car driving is the worst the day after a race. All kinds of stiffness going on. I realized I have not yet done my Philly Half recap. Coming this week I hope.
Monday- 60 m stretching and upper body, 2 mile walk + massage
Had a nice stretch from my trainer and did a little upper body exercises. Met up with a friend for a quick 2 mile walk and catch up before heading over to get a much needed massage.
Tuesday- Walking coffee date + 60 m hot yoga
Still in recovery mode. The crew and I took a walk to a local coffee shop to stretch out our legs. Later did a challenging hot yoga class and walked 2 miles home. Feeling stretched out and back to normal.
Wednesday- 90 m strength training and kickboxing
Finally feeling ready to get back to my normal workouts today. Spent the rest of the day setting up tables and finding all of my platters and serving pieces.
Thursday-Thanksgiving 4 mile morning run
Opted to sleep in a bit and skip the turkey trot this year. Ran in the neighborhood to burn off some crazy before heading home to cook and prepare. We hosted 12 people and as much as you do in advance it is always a mad hustle at the end. Up super late cleaning up-the worst part. So glad to get this family photo in before the other guests arrived and we forgot.
Friday- hot yoga 60m
Perfect post Thanksgiving activity. Still kind of tired from the night before and lots of clean up to get everything back where it goes. There may have been a little Black Friday on line shopping but I did not find too many things that seemed like a great deal.

Saturday- 4 mile run
Slept in a bit and did a later run before the crazy cold rain started.
The best part of this Thanksgiving happenings week was having my kids home again. I just love it when they are home in their beds. It’s the little things like sitting on the couch together watching college football that makes my heart so happy and full. What was the best part of your Thanksgiving week? Did you host dinner?
Kim G says
It looks like it was definitely a busy week! I’m so glad that you were able to celebrate Thanksgiving with friends and family – that’s the best part of the holiday. Okay, well the food is good too, lol
Deborah Brooks says
I am always happy to have my kids home with us
Lisa @ Mile by Mile says
Glad you had a nice Thanksgiving! It always feels good to stay on track with workouts during weeks like this. It’s great that both of your kids were able to be hoe with you!
Deborah Brooks says
It does feel good to try to keep up your normal schedule with all the eating that goes on
Kimberly Hatting says
YES!!!! Having all the kids home is the best. Watching college football is a close second, though 😉 Such a great family pic!!!
Deborah Brooks says
I definitely agree! My Hoosiers unfortunately lost though 🙂

It must have been wonderful having the kids home again, I know my mom is dying for me to come home for Christmas.
Deborah Brooks says
I bet she is! It will make her so happy
Wendy says
I LOVE your family photo. You guys all look great and so happy! That was my favorite part of Thanksgiving, having all the family together. Even Cocoa was more playful than usual (and that’s saying a lot!).
Deborah Brooks says
Yes it is great to have the kids home even if just for a few days.
Becca | Rabbit Food Runner says
Hosting is always stressful – my mom hosts Christmas and gets so worked up about it that I have started to take over as much as I can. Prepping dishes the day before is key! Glad you enjoyed time with your kids. From a kids perspective, we love being home too.
Deborah Brooks says
aww thanks for saying that! It was really great to have them home all week long. Now just 3 more weeks until they are back again
Coco says
Your family photo is great. <3 No matter how simple I keep a menu or how much I do in advance, I always feels like it takes all day to fix a meal for guest. At least on Thanksgiving the results are worth it! Saturday's weather was miserable!
Deborah Brooks says
It definitely takes all day to cook and then another day to clean up. I slept very well last night and finally feel back to normal
Lesley says
Happy Thanksgiving! Glad you were able to get out for a run. Almost my whole family was there on Thursday. I have a cousin in Europe teaching, and she should be back for Christmas.
Deborah Brooks says
That’s great that you had so many family members to celebrate with
Laurie says
You have a beautiful family! Loved your picture. I did not host Thanksgiving this year. My youngest son cooked and we went to his in-laws’ house for dinner. Can’t believe that all I had to bring were the pies – after years of cooking the whole shebang! Looking forward to reading your Philly recap. I loved that race!
Deborah Brooks says
Sounds like you got the better end of the Thanksgiving deal! Hope you had a great weekend
Jessie says
Busy week, but how lovely to have your kids home to celebrate 🙂
The mad hustle right before the meal is always crazy no matter how much you prepare ahead of time 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving!
Deborah Brooks says
Having them home was the best gift ever!
Marcia says
Glad your Thanksgiving went well! You’re so right about that crunch time when everything needs to be finished and hot at once. So stressful. I didn’t host but I schlepped SO much stuff to my BIL’s. It was hard to corral all the platters/serving pieces etc afterward to bring them home.
Deborah Brooks says
So stressful! Hope yours was drama free this year
Courtney Wells says
Without sounding like a weirdo and not addressing all the obvious feels in this post…. can I ask what “you” eat on Thanksgiving? With the traditional turkey out the window… do you eat all the sides, substitute for the Tom or what? I appreciate your dedication and the fact that you posted for the massage!! Treat yourself!!
Deborah Brooks says
You know-I guess I forgot to post about what I was eating! I made a yummy eggplant dish for myself with barley. I ate some sweet potato rounds that were delish. I ate tons of the cheese board appetizer. My favorite. Hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving!
Michelle @ Running with Attitude says
Oh I so hear you on how great it is to have everyone home under one roof! So glad you had a great holiday!
Deborah Brooks says
I am having the Monday morning blues without my babies!
Janelle @ Run With No Regrets says
It sounds like you had a great Thanksgiving! It had to be wonderful to have your kids back home.
I look forward to your Philly Half recap…I wish I was in town that weekend! All that recovery yoga and massage sounds amazing!
Deborah Brooks says
I loved having my kids in town for the week. Having a little Monday Morning blues now
Hannah says
Sounds like a great week! I “host” Thanksgiving just for us – my husband goes in to work that evening and it’s nice to have some downtime just with us over the long weekend. I don’t like turkey, so we go a bit non-traditional. But we still have to have the pumpkin pie!
Deborah Brooks says
I am all for non traditional! Sounds like a great week for you both
Debbie @ Deb Runs says
Yes, we hosted (13 people) and we forgot to take any family pictures this weekend. Having my kids home is always the best part! Glad you were able to have yours with you for a few days, too!
Deborah Brooks says
Having them home for a few days is everything!
