Admittedly, I am a real cardio junkie. I love to get my heart rate up by running, cycling, kick boxing and strength training and I am happiest when I am sweating it out. I have tried the original barre classes a few times and honestly, found them kind of boring. When I had the chance to try out this new Pure Barre Reform class, I was intrigued and signed up right away.
Pure Barre Reform Class Review
Pure Barre Reform class is inspired by resistance training to bring a 50 minute total body workout. Combining many of the traditional Pure Barre moves on the barre with strength training. Reform classes offer a blend of balance, strength and coordination exercises. Sliding discs are used for challenging core moves incorporating planks and lunges.
After a very quick explanation of the class format, we were off and using the sliding discs. I enjoyed the extra challenge of the sliding discs and the fact that you really have to engage your core to keep your balance while using them. The Pure Barre Reform class moved very quickly transitioning into using the mounted stability bands.
It takes a little maneuvering to figure out how far away from the barre to stand to achieve enough but not too much resistance on the bands. There were a few times that I was sure I was not quite in the correct position. I would have like a little more guidance on back positioning.
If you are a regular Pure Barre attendee and you are already familiar with the terminology and moves, this reform class offers a nice change of pace. I am a huge fan of using resistance bands as part of a strength training workout. I enjoyed that the emphasis was more on core moves than the traditional Pure Barre classes that I have taken.
Pure Barre Reform class also has more strength based exercises such as plank variations using the gliding disks. Learned some new variations to ty on my own. I would have appreciated more of a warm up and cool down perhaps extending class to 60 minutes.
If you are looking to add some strength training moves to your barre workout, Pure Barre Reform offers a change of pace to the traditional class. Fast moving and much more varied, the Reform classes will most likely be quite popular.
Tell me-Do you do Barre classes? Have you tried Pure Barre Reform?
