Whether you are training for a triathlon or just looking to mix up your running or biking routine, this is a great workout to give a “tri”. Challenging yourself to add in a short run after a short bike ride can really bump up the intensity & make it a lot more fun.
Doing a 3-5 mile training run or a 15 mile bike ride may get a little boring after a while. I just realized that my next tri race is in 6 weeks! Instead of doing a traditional “brick” workout of a long bike ride and then a run, I’ve decided to switch it up a little. For me, the first mile off of the bike is often the most challenging when my legs feel like jello. This is what I need to practice most. I will be throwing in a couple of these “ton of bricks” workouts over the next 2 months.
These types of workouts are great for increasing your over all fitness and cardio levels whether you are training for a race or looking for a change of pace. Teaching yourself to run on tired legs helps you push through on race day.
What do you think? Ready to give it a tri?
