I’m linking up again today for the “Friday Five” today’s topic 5 Fitness Truths
1. RUN YOUR OWN RACE- I can’t tell you how many times I’ve made this mistake. I have “race plan” figured out and then I cross that start line and poof I all of the sudden decide, “I feel good I think I will run 60 seconds faster per mile than I practiced”. Yep that usually lasts for a few miles and then I totally die and blow the race. Stick with the plan that you have for yourself and try not to get caught up or come up with any new ideas at the start line.
2. NUTRITION- is half if not more of the total picture. It’s easy to get caught up in believing that because you exercise you can eat what ever you want. That never worked for me. Dieting is so last decade! Fuel your body with healthy foods and your body will respond. You will have more energy. STRONG IS THE NEW SKINNY. Eat like an athlete not a swimsuit model.
3.STRETCHING-we all struggle to fit this in. We are all in hurry to shower and change and get somewhere. Don’t skimp on the stretching! Your body will definitely rebel eventually.
4. PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR BODY- (injuries suck!)- When something doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t. Simple but true. I’ve certainly learned this the hard way. No one wants to skip a planned run or worse a race but it’s better to miss one run or one race than months of runs. When you’re in the moment, it can be hard to remember. I don’t only want to run/workout today, I want to run tomorrow and next year too.
5. EVERYTHING IN MODERATION!!
